With Apoorvi out, Maneesha’s chances have improved a lot. Moreover, there is decision to be made in 1m Air Rifle as well. Babuta has overtaken Deepak in ranking and Tomar isn’t far behind.
-
Chaika has two chances in European championships. She is good in both pistol events. I think will only be a couple of points ahead of (may be tied as well), so need to wait and watch for that as well.
-
Yes. Most likely he will get the ranking quota.
-
In 10m Air Pistol Women, are eligible for ranking quota and in finals. In 10m Air Pistol Men, are eligible for ranking quota and in finals. I don't think anyone else can get enough ranking points to topple them.
-
Yes. Even if Turkish guy wins, De Filippis can still be ahead of him with a top 10 finish.
-
Since you already have a quota in Trap, you are not eligible for ranking quota. In Men's Trap it is basically between Italy and Germany for ranking quota. Mauro has 450 points lead over Andreas and the only way someone else can overtake either of them is if they win a medal here while Mauro and Andreas miss out on points.
-
I am assuming it will be 2020 ranking points plus ranking points from Delhi World Cup. Regarding the deduction of points each month, more than the Delhi WC points, question is about existing points. Will some of those points expire? Or will they go down in the same ratio?
-
My mistake. I meant Norway Jenny Stenne instead of Germany. Also, how does Norway have a pass in 10m Rifle? At present Jenny Stenne has 300 points while Polish girls have less than 20 points. If the Polish girls finish below 5th, they won't get enough points to overtake Jenny. Also, there are still two more quotas for European girls remaining. So, it is possible that Poland and Norway both qualify there and Italian Petra Zubasling will get the ranking quota.
-
By my calculations, Taeyun Nam of will win the ranking quota for 10m Air Rifle Men. For 10m Air Rifle Women, it is between Germany and Poland depending on tomorrow’s final and European qualifiers.

I think Vetter, Hofmann and Kirt are the favourites for medal at present. Neeraj is surely part of the next batch alongside other Germans, Matusevicius, Cheng, Yego, Krukowski, etc. Considering his past performance, I am hopeful that he would be able to throw 90+ in Tokyo and get a medal, but as of today, I would say he is only a dark horse for a medal. Overall, I agree that this is our best chance of Olympic athlete medal since Anju Bobby George. Regarding Finals, apart from the ones you mentioned, I would put Annu Rani as long shot for Final as well.

Though I agree that Murali is not a medal chance, he himself is saying he has only 20% chance for a medal, which also I think is higher compared to reality. I don't think you can compare Murali's performance with Renjith's. Murali has been consistently jumping over 8m. Even yesterday, all 5 of his jumps were over 8m. While, Renjith improved his PB by a large amount. I don't remember the full numbers, but it was something like he was jumping in early 16m range and all of a sudden he had a 17.5 range jump. Such a feat is always suspect. That is not the case with Murali. Based on his recent performances, we can expect him to have a jump of around 8 - 8.10m jump. To be a medal contender, he needs to improve that to 8.40 (his estimate) - 8.50m.

You can check the tournaments data easily on https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/ Go to the player's profile, ranking tab. In that tab click on the rank of the category whose detail you need and you will get the full breakdown (for example click on 27 to get detail of Satwik-Ashwini ranking).

A player's badminton ranking is obtained by adding the 10 best results of the player in the past 12 months. If, you take part in a competition and earn less points than your worst result already being counted, you don't earn any more points. Lets take Lakshya Sen as an example. Lakshya Sen had 39447 ranking points in Week 18 (28 April 2020). His worst record in the ranking was 1670 points from New Zealand Open. He earned 1670 points in Swiss Open. So, no improvement in ranking points. Similarly, Prannoy's worst performance is 2750 in Syed Modi, so 1670 points in Swiss Open didn't improve his ranking as well. But, Srikanth's worst performance was 2660 in French Open, and he earned 4900 points in Swiss Open, hence his ranking points improved by 2240 points.

Historic quota for us. Bhavani Devi is India’s first ever Olympic fencer. Special shout out to @Prashanth for believing in Bhavani Devi and tracking her for past 4 years.

From the qualification PDF: (Note: Athletes who achieve both a Continental Games qualification place and, subsequently, a Direct Acceptance ranking, will qualify using the Continental Qualification quota place) Hence, Chinese girls will take the Continental quota only. I simply don't understand why the Federations (and IOC) write such complex qualification documents. Only way, Ankita Raina can qualify through Asian quota is if both the Chinese girls are not selected for Olympics.

Upcoming Qualification Events for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
Dolby replied to Matej's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
As I said, last year All England did take place and hence, last year's tournament would count in rankings and not this year's. -
Upcoming Qualification Events for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
Dolby replied to Matej's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Yes, Swiss Open counts. There might be some more tournaments (lower level) which would count but am not sure how many tournaments are taking place. I found this list of eligible tournaments, but a number of them are already cancelled or postponed. -

Based on ranking, no. Our only hope is Sania Mirza's protected ranking, which is in top 10. So, there is a chance that she can use it to qualify a doubles team for Olympics.

I can understand your shock at police agencies investigating Khalistani material. You are used to police and politicians helping them but alas, having lost a large number of people, including our Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, to the terrorist movement, we are a bit vigilant about it.
