  1. No Olympics* for Usman Khan. He jumped clear but was 6 (!) seconds too slow. 1:21 behind the optimum time while 1:15 is the maximum allowed for MER. Unbelieveble! https://www.nominate.com.au/equest/nsw/results/syd3de21/XC_2104_CCI4-s.html Reallocation provisionally goes to Zimbabwe (MER not confirmed yet), and after that it would be Austria. * Theoretically, he still has a chance if he sets off to Europe immediately and competes in Italy in two weeks. Even if he already had a sponsor for transportation, I highly doubt this would be logistically feasible. Surely not.
  2. Dupont rises from the ashes for the umpteenth time.
  3. And with this, Venezuela will go from 9 (!) in Rio to 0 in Tokyo...
  4. Khan scored 13% better than in Robertson few weeks ago... No idea what happened then, but today's score of 32.60 puts him past the point of no return. Meanwhile, Collins obtained 1/2 MERs on a new horse Chuppy Checker in Madrid today (68%).
  5. Yeah. I'm sure most of the medal outsiders, dark horses, or even just those hoping for one final, will choose to contest their one and only main event. We may end up with some London 2012 slalom replay, when only used an option of having two C2 boats...
  6. To be fair, this pandemic thing certainly prevent some nations from attending.
  7. QS is pretty clear about this. Double starters are a subject of only NOC selection. B.4.3. An athlete participating at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 may participate in more than one (1) event in Canoe Sprint at the Olympic Games. This is subject to the selection of the athlete by their NOC.
  8. Canoe sprint is much like shooting (only without MQS). A nation can do whatever they want as long as they compete in the events where they qualified directly. Specifically, using their six women's kayak athletes, China can theoretically enter two boats for both K1 events, and an additional K2 boat. But the athletes entered for these events must compete in K2 or K4.
  9. Pretty inconsequential but... Women's welterweight Melieva out -> Yunusova in http://boxing.athlete365.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/20210414_Tokyo2020_BOX_Quotas.pdf
  10. According to Olympedia - the first time since Amsterdam 1928.
  11. Well, I don't know the details in wrestling, but some federations do have strict nationality requirements. World Athletics changed it recently, slowing Qatar down. ISU requires the athletes to skip a whole season of international events if they wish to make a change. And so on.
  12. Win for Slovakia! Win for Totallympics!
  13. Usman Khan is competing in Sydney this weekend. He has a little wiggle room left. Should he fail to score under 45 in dressage (again), he can withdraw before cross-country and re-route to either Naracoorte or Tamborine next week. But, if he starts the cross-country and fails to obtain MER, it will be game over. Mandatory rest period is two weeks, even if you retire after clearing just one obstacle.
  14. Funny to point that out when there are literally tens of Russians, Georgians, Cubans competing for nations all over Europe (including Italy)...
  15. Oceanian quota for W K1 will get reallocated to . Could explain why their best athlete was absent from Thailand.
  16. And now a missed gate for Korpes...
  17. Oh well, Switzerland will likely decline this without much thought. I have to check their selection policy to be sure. Tragedy for Bengeri who wasted a chance of a lifetime. Looks like she will be first under the line. So typical for this damned Olympic cycle...
  18. GBR, not SGP. Host quotas in M K1 and W C1 got reallocated to the World Championships previously.
  19. Any indication if Hungary will be sending two boats for C1/K1/K2 events? Curious how the powerhouses will go about this. More boats, or focusing their effort.
  20. Well, anything less than a qualification would be a massive disappointment for our W2- crew. Fingers crossed.
  21. 68% for Ellen Brigitte Farbrot & Red Rebel today... Their previous Grand Prix scores were abysmal, but looks like Red Rebel learned to piaffe during lockdown. Too bad. With this, the chances of Slovak reallocation went from 'good' to 'unlikely'.
  22. Which begs the question... Why did Japan enter a women's kayak here?? K2 quota is not awarded in Asia, so they can't increase their numbers in any case. Moreover, earning a spot in K1 here would reallocate their host quota to a stronger athlete. It could make the difference between qualifying for the semifinals and taking an early exit this summer! So dumb.
  23. Should Japan qualify in W K1 200, their host quota will get reallocated to
