Canoe sprint is much like shooting (only without MQS). A nation can do whatever they want as long as they compete in the events where they qualified directly. Specifically, using their six women's kayak athletes, China can theoretically enter two boats for both K1 events, and an additional K2 boat. But the athletes entered for these events must compete in K2 or K4.

Well, I don't know the details in wrestling, but some federations do have strict nationality requirements. World Athletics changed it recently, slowing Qatar down. ISU requires the athletes to skip a whole season of international events if they wish to make a change. And so on.

Should he fail to score under 45 in dressage (again), he can withdraw before cross-country and re-route to either Naracoorte or Tamborine next week. But, if he starts the cross-country and fails to obtain MER, it will be game over. Mandatory rest period is two weeks, even if you retire after clearing just one obstacle.

Which begs the question... Why did Japan enter a women's kayak here?? K2 quota is not awarded in Asia, so they can't increase their numbers in any case. Moreover, earning a spot in K1 here would reallocate their host quota to a stronger athlete. It could make the difference between qualifying for the semifinals and taking an early exit this summer! So dumb.
