I don’t see how Dawson could be in the medal race in women’s 100 back. She would probably have to break her British record, given that at least the second American (+ O‘Callaghan, if she swims it) will be 58 low as well. I think GB not having anyone in the women’s 100 back final if far more likely than them winning a medal.

Swimming: GB winning a medal in men’s 100 back/women‘s 4x200 free and to some degree men’s 400 IM (Marchand, Foster, Clareburt) would be Haufe surprise to say the least.
Athletics: There isn’t a single track event except women’s 800 m and maybe men’s 1500 m where I would bet on a medal for GB. I absolutely don’t see where a medal in women’s 400 m is supposed to come from …

In fairness, if everyone in sport simply performed to their previously established best times, sport would be very dull. Great swimmers can perform well at their trials and then get their taper wrong. It's not unheard of.
 
Andrew in the 200IM is a prime example that a fast time is not a guarantee of a championship performance when the pressure is on. On the other hand, who predicted Hafnaoui would win the 400m free title in Tokyo? Of the 900 people who entered Swimswam's prediction competition that year, nobody had him even finishing in the top 4.
 
So whilst some of your points are correctly identifying where are not a medal favourite, none of the predictions the other poster made are beyond the realm of possibility. The women's 4x200m free, for example, would only require a poorly timed takeover for GBR to be in with a shot of the podium (although they probably would still be fighting Canada for that spot).
 
I said the following after the trials in April, and I stand by it.

9 medals between slalom and shotgun is almost every single of your guys winning a medal. I can safely predict, in such random sports, that it'll not happen, even if they all won a WCh medal during the cycle.
 
4 medals in TKD, less random sport but with loads of upsets, especially at the olympics. 4 medals would be a perfect performance. 
 
2 medals in Hockey, quite unlikely given neither is a favorite to begin with.
 
Other than that you don't predict anything crazy but it's the best case scenario in many of them. Like Athletics, Sailing, MP, BMX, all sports that often have slight upsets or with a large pool of medal candidates.
 
 

I’m not him, but I’d say Choong in men’s modern pentathlon. Egyptians have been quite dominant on the World Cup circuit lately, and whoever the Egyptian federation selects will probably be the favourites for Olympic gold. He’ll be in the mix for a medal though. 
 
Also Morgan Lake in women’s high jump, she’s competed at 6 or so competitions this year and has only managed a SB of 1.92m. 
 
Rest of the medal (and gold) chances seem accurate, but yeah absolutely no way Great Britain wins that many medals.

Yeah, Sjoestroem has 6 times which are quicker than any other active swimmer in the 50 free.
 
Cam, as great as he is, isn't even the fastest on paper if Dressel qualifies. It would be much more of a shock if Sarah lost than if Cam did.
 
That's true of many of the other strong Aussie gold chances on the men's side. As great as they are, they are often matched by a couple of other greats - the 100 free has Pan and Popovici, the 200m breast has Qin, the 400m free has Lukas Martens, the 4x100m free has the USA. And so on.
 
Obviously the Aussie men are absolutely still gold medal threats. But the women's side has more "nailed on" Aussie favourites for me.

Sjostrom is a much more consistent performer though, it’ll probably take a huge PB to beat her.

Do you even follow swimming? Please look up the results of the last world championships. When did Italy last go faster than the Chinese time from this year? 
China, South Korea and Australia should normally fight for bronze. Don’t see how Italy is relevant in this discussion.

Obviously that is nonsense. Everyone at the top dopes (at least in somewhat relevant sports), Eastern Europeans just doped more ruthlessly. Whenever there is money involved, there is cheating. Makes no sense to assume that someone who isn’t doping can win gold, when the huge majority of people live in countries where doping pays off most of the time. Why should someone in Africa/Russia/China/India not dope, when they can become „rich“ by doing it and don’t really face much consequences even if they get caught? In order to outperform the most talented, doped athletes from those nations, you have to dope as well. There is nothing to suggest that people from rich nations are genetically superior and therefore don’t have to dope to beat the doped athletes from all those other nations (that represent at least 80 % of the global population/talent pool). 
 
Anyone who disagrees has to defend one of the following two lines of reasoning and in my opinion both don’t really make sense:
a) People in rich nations are somehow special and therefore don’t have to dope to dominate the most talented, doped up athletes from the rest of the world (that makes up at least 80 % of the talent pool)
b) There is no widespread doping in poorer nations (despite the evidence from countries like Ethiopia, Kenya, Russia or China saying otherwise)

Just realized where it was held never mind

Despite getting thrashed in all 3 of our games, I'm quite pleased with our performance this week. We got into double figures against Hungary and Japan and created some good opportunities for ourselves that we unfortunately couldn't convert, which is more than I expected us to do. This is a sport that needs a lot of development in our country, and this is certainly a start to seeing us become competitive whilst trying to qualify for major championships. Just like with our Water Polo teams, this could be the boost we need to go on and qualify for Brisbane and 2036 - which should be our target off the back of this.
