As the french Coach i would have Nominated Some different players. Kolo Muani definitely should have Been nominated.
-
Neither of them was nominated, not Sure why. The Team of missing players could have put up a Good fight against the actual german team Leno Gosens Hummels Tah Baku Kroos Can Reus Wirtz Werner Volland/Nmecha
-
Füllkrug is a striker as well. Too Bad that both Nmecha and Werner are injured.
-
Always wanted to participate in one of those contests, sadly i Missed ist this time. Considering the german Song selection it was probably for the better. I doubt that catgamer and me would have Been able to agree on a Song choice. Personally i think that a nation should always try to select a Song in their Own language (or at least not a Song with english lyrics) for this Kind of contest, so congrats to all participants who Went that way.

Indian and Nigeria competing with a mixed team in women‘s 4 x 400 m relay. „Women‘s“ 200/400/800 m have become pointless events sadly. -

No idea how many athletes Germany will send exactly, But My prediction is that it will be more than in 2021, thanks to Team sports. I think there is a Good chance that Germany will Qualify in mens football, womens Football and at least one out of mens Handball/mens basketball (and mens/womens hockey). In Terms of medals i don’t Expect any improvements. I think the negative Trend will continue and Germany will win roughly 35 medals. For Germany to win more medals again, the officials and politicians would need to wake up and finally create a more efficient system (by learning from other countries).

Swimming at the Aquatics FINA World Championships 2022

Would only be logical, given their financial situation, but Italy and Spain would rather beg the EU for more money than to cut down on nonsensical expenditures like elite sports. Of course it also helped that they reinstalled their doping program. I guess they got tired of being everyone‘s punching bag. Italian Gold medals in athletics at the 2020 Olympics: 5 Italian Gold medals in athletics at the previous 8 Olympics combined: 4 All of a sudden they can even develop world class sprinters like Jacobs or Ceccon. -

Absolutely disgusting to see the cheater stealing another medal. She wasn’t good enough to win anything anymore, then she retired and now multiple years later she returns as a grandma and is suddenly the best in the world. Even Gatlin’s Progression was more believable. -

1) You also have no idea how she felt. 2) It doesn't matter how she felt. Would be absolutely crazy if you could just claim to have depression and then you would get a pass to dope without anyone testing you. Sad that she stole a medal, hopefully she will disappear again soon. -

I think she was banned. Now she comes back and swims her best time in 5 years or so. Ridiculous really. The Justin Gatlin of swimming. Her winning a medal is a huge loss for the sport. -
Finally! Ebert might finally start to fulfill her potential. Not surprising that this happened only after Germany hired a proper coach. The lack in quality coaches might be one of the biggest issues in german sports. Extremely dominant performance by her, she beat Volpi 15:9 and Errigo 15:11. Also encouraging 5th place for Sauer who almost beat Volpi in the quarterfinal (she lost 10:11). 6th place for 16 yo Stutchbury from GB was also super impressive. Of course we have to remember that Russia didn't compete.

Fencing FIE Cadet & Junior World Championships 2022
OlympicsFan replied to Totallympics's topic in Fencing
Another expected gold for C. Heathcock at junior level at just 16 years of age, beating his 19 year old brother in the semifinal. His performances remind me of what Leonie Ebert was doing some years ago, dominating adults fresh out of kindergarten. -
I hope that Germany will go with the following squad: Neuer Ter Stegen Trapp Raum Gosens Schlotterbeck Rüdiger Süle Kehrer Kimmich Baku Gündogan Goretzka Andrich Müller Musiala Wirtz Sane Gnabry Adeyemi/Schade Havertz Werner Nmecha

Alpine Skiing FIS Junior World Championships 2022
OlympicsFan replied to Totallympics's topic in Alpine Skiing
This was an amazing for Germany: - 4th best nation overall (behind Austria, Italy and Switzerland) - No nation had more different (individual) medalists - Most individual medals since 1994 - First time since 1994 that two different men won individual medals - Emma Aicher became the first woman since 1995 that won medals in both the downhill and slalom On the men's side Steen Olsen and Franzoni (both born 2001) were the clear standouts, Ax Swartz (born 2004) was also super impressive. On the women's side Aicher (born 2003) was the biggest star, followed by Egger (born 2001) and Ljutic (born 2004). France, Slovenia and to some degree Norway (great men's team, but only one individual medalist and not too convincing on the women's side) were rather disappointing in my opinion. -
Would be extremely weird. Spain must pay insane money for him to go there. I am sure he could have gone to pretty much any world-class country (or France) for a lot of money.

Alpine Skiing FIS Junior World Championships 2022
OlympicsFan replied to Totallympics's topic in Alpine Skiing
Promising start for Germany, only the 2nd time in the history of junior worlds (after 1988) that Germany won a medal in both downhill races. Especially promising since Aicher on the women's side will be able to compete 2 more years at junior worlds while Vogt on the men's side will be able to compete one more year at junior worlds. Other german women since 2000 who won a downhill medal at junior worlds: Maria Höfl-Riesch, Viktoria Rebensburg, Kira Weidle (all of them went on to make downhill world cup podiums) -
The results of the cadet european championships are insane from an hungarian perspective: Men's sabre: Bronze, 6th, 7th Men's foil: Gold, Silver Men's epee: - Women's sabre: Gold, 5th, 6th Women's foil: Silver Women's epee: Gold, 6th, 7th - They won half the individual events - They won a medal in 5 of the 6 individual events - They had 3 athletes in the top 7 in half of the individual events

Ski Jumping FIS Junior World Championships 2022

On the women's side it should be an easy gold for Prevc, on the men's side Austria might very well finish 1-4. Austrian men seem to be lightyears ahead of everyone else at this level. Notable absances: Women: Pagnier , Makhinia , Bjørseth Men: Sadreev I think all of them could have gone for a medal, Sadreev might have even been the favorite for gold. -
The logic of the countries abstaining makes me rather angry. In a time of conflict you have to chose sides. Not chosing sides means siding with the aggressor. Their voting behavior clearly shows that they don't take the west very seriously. I am sure that most/all of those countries are more dependant on western than russian business, but they think that Russia is far more likely to cut ties with them over their vote. I think if the west would sanction all countries that abstain, the vote would look very differently.
-
1) I am shocked to see how little most people seem to know about Eritrea. 2) Afganistan's vote probably isn't the Taliban's vote. I think their representatives are still part of the old "government".
