  1. I tried to make a list with eligible junior athletes (born in 2004 or later) who won an individual medal at the winter olympics or at 2022 summer world championships: - Su Yiming (snowboard) - Kokomo Murase (snowboard) - Rikuto Tamai (diving) - Chen Yuxi (diving) - Quan Hongchan (diving) - Claire Curzan (swimming) - Katie Grimes (swimming) - Leah Hayes (swimming) - Benedetta Pilato (swimming) - David Popovici (swimming) - Summer McIntosh (swimming) - Mollie O'Callaghan (swimming) - Erriyon Knighton (athletics) - Wei Xiaoyuan (artistic gymnastics) - Hazuki Watanabe (artistic gymnastics) - Shoko Miyata (artistic gymnastics) - Jessica Gadirova (artistic gymnastics) - Sarah Chaari (taekwondo)
  2. So if i want to nominate someone like Kliment Kolesnikov, i should do it in the non-olympic category?
  3. I found this (maybe it helps some people with their picks): https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/34335761/best-sports-moments-2022-year-review Some highlights: - Roger Federer retiring - Serena Williams retiring - Ashleigh Barty retiring - Rafael Nadal winning his 21st slam - Andrey Rublev writing "no war please" on the camera - Christian Eriksen's comeback in the national team - Erin Jackson winning gold - Lindsey Jacobellis winning gold - The iranian national team not singing the national anthem - Argentina winning the football world cup
  4. Or by changing nationality to Norway/Denmark.
  5. Obviously you are wrong. If everyone would have understood his intention, then noone could have justified being outraged.
  6. Personally i think that this rule is stupid. It might be ok for people form smaller nations (for example i won't have a problem only nominating 1 finnish athlete), but if american people follow this rule, they are pretty much by definition forced to not vote for the best candidates in some categories.

  8. In Germany multiple former national players basically said that in the past (for example at the 2006 world cup) they experienced argentinian players both as bad losers and (even worse) as bad winners, so this seems to be an argentinian tradition. I also think that i get what Mbappe wanted to say: Before 2022 south american teams hadn't won a title since 2002 and only made 1 of the past 3 finals (Argentina in 2014), but more importantly the argentinian/brazilian league are lightyears behind the top european leagues and less and less players from there make it at the best european clubs. In general football in south america didn't keep up with the developments in europe and at past tournaments you could often see that they weren't at the same level as european teams tactically. When you take all this into consideration, you have to give huge credit to Scaloni and his team. In the past south american teams often had more individual talent than european teams, but were behind when it came to tactics. This time Argentina had clearly less individual talent than France, but they were at least on the same level tactically and also seemed like more of a team (i think this is also the reason why teams like Morocco or Croatia also made it that far, despite their lack of individual quality). If i remember correctly, at the 1978 world cup only one player of the argentinian squad played outside of Argentina. I think today it would be unthinkable for Argentina to win a world cup with this approach.
  9. 1) I think there should be a clear definition for who qualifies for each award. 2) I think in certain sports (like swimming or gymnastics) it is much easier for young athletes to succeed, but i am not sure what that should mean for the awards ... 3) My award categories would look like this: - Best male athlete summer sport - Best male athlete winter sport - Best female athlete summer sport - Best female athlete winter sport - Best male newcomer summer sport - Best male newcomer winter sport - Best female newcomer summer sport - Best female newcomer winter sport - Best men's team (summer or winter)* - Best women's team (summer or winter) - Best moment * In my opinion there aren't enough teams in winter sports to justify an own award for that
  10. They are sitting at the source (where all the shirts are produced), so no surprise that they can change shirts that often. Would be more interesting to know if they can actually point at the countries they are "supporting" on a map.
  11. Must be tough on english fans to see someone from Scotland/Ireland winning a world cup before them.
  12. WE did it? What exactly did she contribute?* *Please ignore if this was another wrong translation
  13. Germany: 13.86 million (53.6 %) For comparison: The 2018 final was watched by 21.45 million people Overall this was a record breaking performance (in a negative sense) for german TV. In addition to that german free TV didn't even show all matches, although they paid an absurd amount of money for the broadcasting rights. German people have to pay roughly 20 euros a month for public media and part of that money is used to buy broadcasting rights for events like football world cups or olympics. Personally i hope that some day this practice will change. Pay tv can buy the broadcasting rights and whoever wants to watch events like the olympics or the football world cup has to pay for pay tv.
  14. Really? How? Mbappe scoring the most goals makes up for France not winning the trophy ... ? I think most french fans don't feel that way. Also please reflect on whether this is really how you feel or if it is just your "french nature" (of overdramatizing everything) speaking. France won a world cup just 4 years ago and is lightyears ahead of every other nation when it comes to individual talent. Unless earth is hit by a meteorite, France will win more world cups than any other nation in the foreseeable future.
  15. He is clearly mocking old man Ronaldo with this celebration. When did we last see Ronald this "vibrant" (if ever)?
  16. He is clearly making fun of retarded people (looking at his face), so he should face severe consequences.* FIFA should takes this award from him and award it to Jordan Pickford instead. *Please ignore this sentence if this is just his normal face.
  17. 1) I don't really see how Martinez would have seen what was going on in Mbappe's pants during his celebration ... ? I think Mbappe was facing away from him and towards the crowd. 2) I don't see how it would be an insult, even if he would be "imitating" Mbappe. I would rather see it as an hommage. 3) Personally i think that this was extremely childish and simple-minded. Seeing that many people call this behavior "cool", "creative" or "brave" really leaves me speechless. You could maybe call it disrespectful, but FIFA/Qatar don't deserve any respect, so if anything it was disrespectful towards the trophy itself/players who received this trophy in the past. 4) Even if he would have insulted Mbappe: How the hell does he insult all of France by insulting ONE FOOTBALL PLAYER?
  18. I didn't think you could get more pathetic, but somehow you managed to clear the lowest of all bars. How about you develop some self-respect and admit that you were the only idiot in this thread. Maybe learn the rules of a sport before commenting and then next time you won't make yourself look like a complete clown.
  19. The award for Messi is ok, Mbappe also would have deserved it. I think Messi shouldn't have gotten it in 2014. The award for Fernandez is also ok, i don't think that Tchouameni/Gvardiol/Bellingham would have deserved it more. Personally i am not sure about the award for Martinez. I am not sure if Bono or Livakovic would have deserved it more.
  20. It is beyond pathetic, but if they would have any kind of shame/self-awareness, they never would have made it to the "top". Guys like them can't accept that they will never be admired, so they have to try to steal some of the attention from the truly meaningful people in this world.
  21. You have to understand him. Italy is irrelevant in football + France is the best and will be for the foreseeable future. As an italian he can't stand it, so he probably has to tell himself that the argentinian success somehow has something to do with Italy.
  22. Says the guy who doesn't even inform himself about the rules before commenting ...
  23. On the other hand russian athletes and for example Sjöstrom didn't compete this time. The only real news for canadian swimming from this meet is that Kharun might actually become a medal contender in long course in the near future. Of course Canada had absolutely nothing to do with his development and basically gets all the reward while putting in no work. Canada should be in the mix for all relay medals on the women's side in Paris (possibly also thanks to the emergence of Ella Jansen) + 6-8 individual medals on the women's side (100 free, 200 free, 400 free, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM, 400 IM) + 1-2 individual medals on the men's side.
  24. Would be rather atypical for this french Team. Usually they only do enough to win the Game (while minimizing the risk). Also i would say that their goalkeeper isnt a weakness, certainly not compared to Most of the other goalkeepers at this tournament (including Martínez). His biggest weakness is when he actually has to Leave the line (since he isnt super tall), But i don’t Really See argentina exploiting that (given their Lack of size). I think the key is to take Griezmann out of the game (who is their most creative player) and also using the space that Mbappe gives you (since he doesn’t track back much). Unlike Morocco (Hakimi) and England (Walker), Argentina has no elite right back, so I think that Mbappe will return to his best in the final.
  25. Please name the awful matches France and Brazil had. If you refer to the french loss against Tunisia: France played their B team, so this is irrelevant and doesn't say anything about their actual strength.
