  1. As we approach the 50 days to go milestone until the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo, it's time to reveal our official Olympic Countdown Clock. The clock will help us countdown the days until the Opening Ceremony. How does it work? The Olympic Countdown Clock consists of the numbers 1-50 arranged so that they make up the iconic Olympic rings. As each day passes, another piece of the Olympic ring is coloured-in and as we edge closer to the Olympics the rings begin to take shape. At the one day to go milestone, the 5 coloured rings will be depicted in their complete form. Olympic Countdown Clock -----------------50------------------------------------ 25------------------------------------ 02----- --------49---------------48------------------27---------------24-------------------04--------------01- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --47--------------------------46-------29---------------------------22-------06--------------------------03 -------------------------------------36-------------------------------------- 16------------------------------- --45-------------------38--43----- 30--33---------------18--21-------08-13------------------ 05 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------44--------40---41----------------28--31-------20--23----------------10-11----- ---07--- -----------------42------------------------------------- 26------------------------------------- 09------------- ----------------------39--------------------------32-------19-------------------------- 12----------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------37----------------34-------------------17---------------14------------- ------------------------------------ -35-------------------------------------- 15---------------
  2. @Sindo any chance this can be fixed at least before the Olympics? Connection issues are pretty bad.
  3. Boxing by miles for me, followed by weightlifting. Although nowhere near the worst, since we are on the topic it’s worth noting the controversy in the athletics qualification system with shoe technology making for discrepancies in the distance events but also with the unfair world ranking points system which heavily favours athletes in nations who have access to high level meets.
  4. Yes I know, but it doesn't say how they will come up with that final total of 136. The "up to 18 athetes" part is probably what they meant but don't know how they will be able to wriggle out of it when it says clearly "The 18 highest placed athletes at the FINA Diving World Cup 2021 will each obtain one(1) quota place for their NOC". So that definitely gives any athletes who finished in top 18 at World Cup every right to request their place at the Olympics as the document says they will be awarded a quota. At the very least any appeal would have a good chance. Edit: I see there is a hierarchy of qualification events so yeah they can use that to say that where they cutting the quotas. Still worth an appeal based on the wording though. And that is my quota of interpreting Olympic qualification documents for the foreseeable
  5. There is a very strong ground for appeal because although it says "up to 18 athletes", the qualification document says clearly: The 18 highest placed athletes at the FINA Diving World Cup 2021 will each obtain one(1) quota place for their NOC with a maximum of two (2) athletes per NOC. Very hard for them to then be able to deny an athlete who finished in top 18 from taking their place, no matter what rules they have about a quota limit because as far as I see there is nowhere in that document saying how that limit will be achieved (as in who do they take the quotas from).
  6. @Benolympique Ireland has 13 rowers qualified instead of 11. However, your overall total seems to be correct
  7. Ireland on track for 90-100 athletes which would be our largest ever team.
  8. TISC: Vote on Potential Rule Changes As promised, I am opening up a vote to decide on 2 separate proposals. The first involves an option for juries consisting of 2 members to opt-in to a combined voting format that would guarantee any song receiving votes from both members of the national jury would be guaranteed to appear in the final combined Top 12 vote of that jury. Both jury members vote as normal, the only difference is that when the votes are combined, if a nation that received points from both jury members does not make the Top 12, they will be added to the list, replacing the lowest ranked song in the Top 12 that did not receive points from both jurors. If a majority yes vote is agreed then 2-member juries will have the option to choose that method of voting. The default option will be the standard method of combining the votes, so if no stipulation is made by the national jury, the default method will apply. The second issue concerns hosting rights and whether there should be an option for a nation to co-host the event with another nation, and if so, should there be some kind of cultural or geographic link between the 2 co-hosting nations. In order for these rules to take effect, a simple majority of 1 is required. All previous TISC participants are welcome to participate in this vote. Polls will close Sunday, 30th May 2021, 21:00 GMT. Please answer all questions, even if you answer no to Question 2: Question 1: Should national juries consisting of 2-members be allowed the right to opt-in to a voting process that guarantees that a song(s) which receive votes from both jury members will appear in the final top 12 combined list of that nation's votes? (Read above for details of the proposed method). (a) Yes (b) No Question 2: Should there be an option for a nation to co-host the contest with another nation? (a) Yes (b) No Question 3: Should co-hosting be limited to nations with a cultural and / or geographical link? (a) Yes (b) No Question 4: Regarding potential co-hosting, there should be the following restriction: (a) Limited to 2 nations (b) Limited to 3 nations (c) No limit Thank you in advance for your taking the time to share your preferences
