  1. Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive. USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
  2. Yes and no. Flights are pretty frequent, but when you're trying to move tens of thousands of people, it becomes a lot more difficult.
  3. That's so they can play in both venues in Canada. Will mean that the UEFA Path A winner has to go from Toronto to Los Angeles and then up to Seattle. Someone was bound to draw the short straw in that group since 4 of the matches are Central, but 2 are in Santa Clara. Unfortunately, that's Algeria.
  4. It's not a coincidence that a lot of the matches that are earlier in the day are in Atlanta and Houston and Dallas where they have roofs. And most of the games in the outdoor stadiums are later in the day.
  5. Venues have been assigned to groups, but not specific matches yes. That's why most matches, pretty much everything other than the groups with the host countries, is listed as an either/or. But FIFA will release the full schedule on Saturday at 1200 Eastern Time / 1800 CET. So we'll know the answer to all of those questions in just a few hours!
  6. The 1 game I definitely have is Group I, either Norway vs. Senegal or France vs. Bolivia/Suriname/Iraq. Not terrible.
  7. Definitely looks like it's a temporary structure that's not going to be there for long. The low roof probably isn't a bad thing for the athletes. Less air in the building to move around, so hopefully it means faster ice
  8. Minnesotan Jessie Diggins announces upcoming retirement from ski racing This will be Diggins' final season of racing.
  9. LA28 Paralympic daily competition schedule released with 1,000 days to go
  10. Starting to get some pushback on the track and field schedule. Alfred Won’t Back ‘Unfair’ LA28 Sprint Plan, Agent Says Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s Coach Voices Frustration Over LA28 Schedule for Blocking Historic 400m & 400H Double Bid
  11. And for the first time since 2002.. John Shuster will not be curling in the Olympics for Team USA. He loses the best-of-3 to Danny Casper. Casper now heads to the OQE to try and secure their spot in Milan
  12. When the schedules came out for LA2028, decided to come back over here. I'll probably be around a lot between now and February! I discovered something interesting.. this is the 4th Olympic trials they've used this format with a best-of-3 series to determine the winner. All 4 men's tournaments have gone to a 3rd game. And as they noted on the broadcast last night, it's the 3rd straight time Shuster lost the first game. I remember watching 4 years ago and it was excruciating because I wanted both Shuster and Dropkin to win, but someone had to lose. This time though, whoever wins here still has to go through the OQE. So I feel more confident in that with Shuster than with Casper's team. Plus that would be really something for Shuster to make a 6th straight Olympics and to be competing for the 2nd time in Italy!
  13. John Shuster with a clutch draw on the last rock of the 10th end. Series against Danny Casper is tied 1-1. They'll play a 3rd game tomorrow to decide who will represent the United States at the Olympic Qualifying Event next month.
  14. Today is on Peacock. Tomorrow and Sunday are on USA
  15. Never made sense to have the 200 finals on the same day as the 400 finals. So that was a sensible decision. Plus it certainly helped out Marie-José Pérec as well to be able to complete her own double
  16. There's a lot of scuttlebutt online about the schedule for the women's 100 and they don't like it all happening on the first day. Have a feeling we might see some tweaks to the schedule for athletics, although to move things around for Sydney would feel like it could be some home cooking and I'm not sure how well that would be perceived outside of the US
  17. This is great stuff. I'm a ways off from building anything spreadsheet-wise for LA, but thank you for sharing!
  18. Who Faces The Biggest Schedule Conflicts In The New LA 2028 Swimming Lineup?
  19. Of note.. the women's 100m Athletics final will be on the first full day of competition. So they'll be starting off with a bang!
  20. Great first half for the US. Try and conversion for a 7-5 lead over France
  21. Team USA underway against France in men's rugby. Tough assignment for their first game!
  22. I'm going to Netherlands-South Africa on Saturday. Thought about trying to get to one of the US matches, but the schedule didn't work out. But I've been following this match today. What a result! Especially since it took a boundary to force that super over in the first place. U-S-A! U-S-A!!
  23. All medalists are tested. So by default.. yes, they did
  24. I know this is a very heavily Americanized point of view, but they're probably looking at what's going on with the NCAA and how the athletes are starting to get their share of the money that is being made and figure that needs to start happening with the Olympics. The days of amateurism are long gone and the prestige of winning an Olympic medal shouldn't be the only reward coming from the IOC (as opposed to payouts from the respective NOCs)
