  1. That could sideline him into next season. Couldn't be a much worse day for the Chiefs who are now eliminated from the playoffs
  2. I know you're joking, but that wouldn't even work because that day is the Super Bowl. So NBC will only have coverage on the broadcast network until Noon ET and then will have a shortened primetime show and late night after the game. Which means they'll have to condense Vonn in the downhill and the final day of the team figure skating event into that brodacast
  3. Wow. That would be an incredible story if she can grab a medal in February. Can only imagine how much NBC is excited over the prospect of having her in contention.
  4. Was in a meeting so I wasn't following, so as soon as it ended, first thing I did was check the score. Go Team !! Thrilled to have both teams in Cortina. And don't need to go through qualifying in mixed doubles
  5. Team Casper is headed to Milan-Cortina!! Lots of misses by China throughout the match, some of which were just bad luck. Thrilled for Danny and company. Glad they don't have to play another game
  6. Halfway through the - men's match. US has had 3 straight steals and leads 4-2 after 5 ends. Some bad luck by China, but otherwise they seem to be making more mistakes than the Americans
  7. concedes down 10-5 after 8. is officially the #3 seed
  8. That match turned quickly for So we're all but set for the playoffs
  9. Saw that one. Would love for them to get Skubal, but I'm worried that his situation with the Tigers where they might trade him (but probably not) would prevent that from happening.
  10. Organizations that have loftier purposes than the Olympics probably won't follow suit. Seems like it's probably more likely to be more individual sports (like athletics or swimming or gymnastics) and less about the team sports. FIFA, FIBA, IIHF, etc. I doubt they're going to make any changes.
  11. It's a good start, but at most he's only pitching a handful of innings. I'm hoping him being on the team compels some other big name pitchers to play and hopefully it's better than last time where American pitchers simply don't view the tournament as a priority and would rather spend that time in spring training getting ready for the season
  12. US team still needs some pitching, but their lineup should be killer, especially with the depth now at Shortstop and Catcher
  13. defeats 9-5 to clinch a playoff spot! - still going on, currently in the 10th end, which will determine the seeding order. Wow.. with a miss on their last stone of the 10th end. capitalizes and scores 2 to tie it 9-9 and send the game to an extra end!
  14. loses to with hammer in extra ends which clinched a spot for in the #1 vs #2 game. 3rd playoff spot still up for grabs tomorrow on the men's side
  15. Do or die for the US women. Japan has nothing to play for, but I'm sure they would love to beat Norway if they have to face them again. Let's go Tabitha!
  16. That's what I figured. Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
  17. Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
  18. Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive. USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
  19. Yes and no. Flights are pretty frequent, but when you're trying to move tens of thousands of people, it becomes a lot more difficult.
  20. That's so they can play in both venues in Canada. Will mean that the UEFA Path A winner has to go from Toronto to Los Angeles and then up to Seattle. Someone was bound to draw the short straw in that group since 4 of the matches are Central, but 2 are in Santa Clara. Unfortunately, that's Algeria.
  21. It's not a coincidence that a lot of the matches that are earlier in the day are in Atlanta and Houston and Dallas where they have roofs. And most of the games in the outdoor stadiums are later in the day.
  22. Venues have been assigned to groups, but not specific matches yes. That's why most matches, pretty much everything other than the groups with the host countries, is listed as an either/or. But FIFA will release the full schedule on Saturday at 1200 Eastern Time / 1800 CET. So we'll know the answer to all of those questions in just a few hours!
  23. The 1 game I definitely have is Group I, either Norway vs. Senegal or France vs. Bolivia/Suriname/Iraq. Not terrible.
  24. Definitely looks like it's a temporary structure that's not going to be there for long. The low roof probably isn't a bad thing for the athletes. Less air in the building to move around, so hopefully it means faster ice
  25. Minnesotan Jessie Diggins announces upcoming retirement from ski racing This will be Diggins' final season of racing.
