Huge medal for the Philippines

The format favours high risk since you can drop 3/7 scores which gives the impression that the event is of low quality.
I found the trick portion to be a bit boring and I feel it devalued the run portion which I feel should be given greater preference. I would prefer something like three runs and taking the combined score of the top 2.

Potentially a big day for Canada tomorrow/tonight, here's a list of our medal chances
Diving - Men's synchronized 10m platform
Judo - Women's -57kg
Judo - Men's -73kg
Swimming - Women's 100m butterfly
Swimming - Women's 400m freestyle
2 medals would be an average night, but I'm hoping for at least three.

Didn't expect a medal on the first day. Rowing went well, but the loss of our men's volleyball team stung a bit, even though Italy is better ranking wise we were up 2-0 and lost 3-2
Hoping for a couple of medals tomorrow.

Not sure about, gold (have they played together in the past?), but on paper this is our best option for mixed doubles so it's great we get to see it.

JoshMartini007 got a reaction from intoronto in How many medals do you expect from your Nation at the 2020 Olympics? (Final Version)
I'd take a medal in artistic swimming team .
Also no swimming relay medals for Canada is a bit weird.

Lessmann is injured, but Germany really wants her to compete, but if she can't then Gruhn will compete. I guess both were entered...

I mean even a 500 level event (or that hybrid 1000/500 points they gave at prior Olympics) would be enough to encourage more people to stay. Really at this point there's no money and no points and Olympic gold isn't enough of a draw for what is essentially "working for free" for a week.

That's cool to see, his partner Tyler Paige also has us as a source. Not that I interviewed them of their ambitions, the date cited was the same day I wrote about them qualifying to the Olympics.

It was reallocated to the women's -48kg for (continental quota)
-
JoshMartini007 got a reaction from dcro in Judo Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
Also eight quotas have been declined.
- M -100kg
- W -48kg
- W -57kg
- W -70kg
- W -70kg
- W -78kg
- W +78kg
- W +78kg
Quotas seemed to have been reallocated in an order based on which nations declined first.
were continental quotas, but none remain so they were reallocated to the highest ranked eligible athlete (W -49kg) and (W +78kg)
was a continental quota so it went to the next highest European nation without one, (W +78kg). Same with where the quota went to (W -52kg).
The simple reallocations were going to the next highest ranked nations in the same event respectively.
hasn't been reallocated (which is why we have 391 athletes instead of 392). It should go to and if they decline it would go to before going to the overall ranking (assuming it will ever be reallocated since we are now past the deadline)

Unsurprisingly not every nation's best athlete is a 100m runner. Once World Athletics saw how many World Ranking athletes would miss out they changed the rules to force as many nations into the 100m events.

Haha, thanks. They aren't a bad team and with Canada and Greece not sending their best I felt they had a bit opportunity. Lucky for them they seized it.

JoshMartini007 got a reaction from Dolby in Boxing Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
She benefited from a rare set of circumstances. Had the BTF revealed a less favorable qualification procedure (like having the continental qualifiers in 2019) or if another Canadian athlete took prominence then she wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on.
The combination of being one of the best athletes prior to getting pregnant, BTF screwing Pan American athletes hard and having the full support of the Canadian Federation gave her the opportunity to strike.

even months after FINA officially awarded those quotas. our swimming federation was still saying. "don't worry, we got this. FINA will reschedule the qualifier "

JoshMartini007 got a reaction from szy123 in Tennis Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
I think the logic is that the European places were awarded first and then the reallocated quotas which ended up being the same nation. Of course with athletes still pulling out the point might be moot.

Not sure, usually they are one of the earliest to reveal, but since you asked, the quotas were awarded to
Sawadogo Passamwindin Faysal (M -80kg)
Farzad Mansouri (M +80kg)
Naomie Katoka Kasumpata (W -67kg)
Keila Avila (W +67kg)
