  2. Emmanuel Macron will support India's bid to host 2036 Olympics and 2030 Youth Olympics https://twitter.com/sidhant/status/1750938242839683515
  3. The 8 group winners are seeded and move into Round of 16. The 2nd place from each group shall be drawn from 3rd place from each group with condition that teams from same group can't be drawn against each other. The winners of this playoff round will play against the group winners. The winner of each match shall qualify for quarterfinals and Olympics. The entire draw for the knockout stage shall be made in one go
  4. So Asian Table Tennis Union has five zones - East Asia, South-East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and West Asia. So Asia gets 6 quotas so 1 quota gets allocated to each of the five zones and the sixth one is allocated either by ranking or competition (format for 6th quota is TBD, it was ranking in 2020 and competition in 2016). So here are NOC in each zone East Asia : South-East Asia: South Asia: Central Asia: West Asia: so Central Asia quota is tough battle between and players unless anyone gets team quota
  5. Totally undeserving if the team can't defeat two lowly ranked teams at home and can't convert plenty of penalty corners. Hope this wakes up Hockey India and Sports Ministry and plans well for the next Olympic cycle. Regarding contingent size this is a huge dent as hockey is the only team sport we are good enough and have reached a ceiling in terms of quotas in other sports we qualify usually. Also we are miles from qualifying in other sports where we never qualified. But the contingent size should touch 100
  6. I think our Sports Ministry should send a research team to Uzbekistan to get tips on improving our Football, Boxing, Wrestling, Rowing, Judo and Taekwondo
  7. Is anyone aware of how one can earn quota in Sailing via 'Emerging Nations Program'. The qualification document says highest ranked among the Emerging Nations shall qualify, so Nethra Kumanan should qualify via that route
  8. Not in favour of reallocation to skeet events if we can't qualify, let our best shooters go to Paris. There is enough chances for shooters to qualify especially from Asia and Europe, if our shotgun shooters can't qualify directly it means they aren't good enough
  9. What happened to Javed Faroughi, he still couldn't qualify yet
  10. Varun Tomar secures quota in Men's 10 Air Pistol. So its 31st quota and contingent size is 46 in 7 sports. Also 14th quota in Shooting and 2 quotas in Men's 10 Air Pistol
  11. Hi @dcro, can you comment on this https://inside.fei.org/media-updates/fei-publishes-olympic-and-paralympic-rankings-paris-2024
  12. Apparently Anush Agarwalla has qualified in Dressage as being top rider in Overall Rankings. He has to maintain MER till June 2024 to confirm qualification. So its 30th Quota place and contingent size is 45 in 7 sports. Unfortunately, Fouaad Mirza missed out as there were two Chinese above him in Eventing Group G rankings and upto 2 individuals per country can qualify in Eventing
  13. Mirza won't get the quota as there are two Chinese above him, in eventing a country can get two individual quotas

  16. Indian shooters do extremely well in junior level but fall short in senior level especially in high level tournaments like World Championships and Olympics. Its partly due to pressure due to huge expectations and improper selection policy. Winning quotas isn't an issue, 13 quotas have been secured already; only China and United States have more. Our shooting federation has changed the selection policy and coaches and hopefully they will select the right squad
  17. Actually 15 November is very co-incidental in career of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulkar made his international debut on 15th November 1989 as 16 year old against Pakistan in Karachi. Sachin Tendulkar would play his last innings on 15th November 2013 against West Indies at Mumbai. This Test match although had started on 14th but it got over within 3 days only and India played just 1 inning.
  18. Our qualification campaign to 2026 FIFA World Cup starts today against Kuwait at 10pm today
  19. always depended on wildcards for qualification but Siddikur Rahman became the first Bangladeshi to qualify when he was within 60 golfers in 2016. Ruman Shana qualified in archery in 2020. They could participate in mixed event as Diya Siddique was given invitation.
  20. vs will be interesting as rain is forecasted in Bangalore. Already its overcast in the morning with thick grey clouds
  21. He equalled the most number of centuries in ODI which is 49. He is joint top with batting great Sachin Tendulkar
