  1. Based on the standings after the World Cup in Calgary, these teams would qualify for the team pursuit, if my calculations and understanding of the qualification criteria are correct. Country Women Men Host Country World Cup Ranking Time Ranking Reserves
  2. The Netherlands won the Hockey World League by winning all 6 matches with a goal difference of +18, without any of their opponents scoring a single goal against them. Group phase: 4 - 0 2 - 0 3 - 0 Final rounds: 4 - 0 (QF) 2 - 0 (SF) 3 - 0 (F) With winning the bronze medal by defeating the Olympic champions from (well won the gold in Rio, but all players were from ), all three medalists of this Hockey World League were in the same group.
  3. Harimoto will take part in the YOG? So Wang and Lin will fight for silver then.
  4. Blaak! 3/3 in elite individual events this WCH so far.
  5. And Ranomi took her world record back. First woman ever to swim sub 23 seconds!
  6. Not really contributing to this topic, but just wanted to highlight these comments, haha
  7. and the first two semi-finalists
  8. Does http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/isu/ work in Germany? Or this one: http://nos.nl/livestream/2159318-studio-sport-schaatsen-wk-sprint.html ?
  9. 12 different countries winning a medal at these World Championships
  10. Kramer is now a 19-times world champion
  11. Well, we sort of made up for it by defeating Germany today in Germany.
  12. Completely agree with everything you said. Polling was indeed very unlucky to draw an opponent who doesn't compete much during the years and therefore was not seeded, but who in the end won the gold medal.
  13. Yes, the women's hockey team was unlucky in the final. They played way better than GBR, but GBR was more effective and managed to score 3 goals. The swimming team was just disappointing, bar the marathon swimmers. The 4th place in the 4x100m relay was sort of expected, but we all hoped for bronze. Individually, only Ranomi Kromowidjojo was close to reaching her potential. So there's already a lot of discussion going on on how to move forward from here.
  14. 12th place, with all countries above us having (far) bigger populations.
  15. All of our 4 teams made the semis in their respective tournaments, but 3 teams finished 4th (Women's volleyball, women's handball and men's field hockey) Overall, most surprised by Italy's medals. Denmark, USA, Russia, and GBR also did better than I expected. Most disappointed by Mongolia, I expected way more medals from them than the two medals they won. I also expected more medals from Ukraine, Iran, Poland, and the Czech Republic. For the Netherlands, I expected more medals, but we had a lot of 4th place finished. Furthermore, some of the gold medal favorites, such as Epke Zonderland, Kim Polling, and the whole equestrian team, were disappointing. On the other hand, some nice gold medal surprises, such as Sanne Wevers on balance beam and both gold medals in marathon swimming.
  16. Three Dutch guys in the semis, with some of the favorites already out. This is looking good so far.
  17. Daudet and Strombergs already out!
  18. What a tense match. The Dutch girl grew during the match, but the Germans were really dangerous at times. The German players were excited when they realized that the match was going to be decided by shoot outs. Fortunately, the Dutch won their semi final again, just like they defeated New Zealand in the semis 4 years ago after shoot outs.
  19. Congrats to Belgium, who were better this match.
  20. First disappointment of the day for us. Hambüchen now the big favorite for gold.
  21. Nice rematch between NED and FRA. Hopefully, the score will be the other way round this time.
  22. What a match by Argentina against Germany! Congratulations Argentina! Let's hope for another NED - ARG, this time in the men's tournament!
  23. Haha, this was such an intense medal race!
