  6. 3 medals in luge are possible for Italy, but gold will be difficult. Maybe a women's double?
  8. Goggia had a similar fall in Cortina 2022, two weeks before the Beijing Olympics and she can to win a medal there, but she was in worse shape than before that season, which meant an extra 1 week of rehabilitation, than now. She also skied to the finish line on her own.
  9. There's supposed to be men's training today, and the women's SG tomorrow... In my opinion, these competitions shouldn't be on the calendar at all. The World Cup in biathlon or cross-country skiing has no competitions before the Olympics in last weekend.
  10. If I was Goggia or Brignone, I wouldn't even be competing here... The Olympics are in a week, and even Goggia isn't fighting in the World Cup anymore now. For me, It's better to train in Cortina on the snow there.
  11. OA Sport is probably looking to 2022 and Beijing, where we had many medals: 17, but only 2 gold. Safeguarding expectations? Hopefully. With 28 medals overall, even 7 gold isn't a great result – a minimum of decency, with an average of 1 gold out of 4 medals. In my opinion, to get a place in the top 10 of the medal table, you need to win at least 5 gold medals and 6 to be sure of it.
  13. The first prediction is OK for us, but the second is unfortunately disastrous... With 28 medals, only 4 gold at home? And as the same number of gold medals as the UK and Slovenia, who have a combined 6-7 medals overall? It's a disaster. Anything less than 6 gold medals and a place in the top 10 of the medal standings will be a disaster for us... Personally, I'd rather even win 22-23 medals with 6-7 of which are gold, than 28 medals with 4 gold... Yes, every medal counts, but in sport, it's all about winning; the rest are just consolation prizes.
  15. You'd have to ask her simpatic boyfriend from the USA about that, who is often seen at competitions with her participation
  16. I'm curious if the Italians have tested this anywhere? I don't know if our team already has the opportunity to train at the Milan oval, where this could be done. But generally for me, it's true that a suit like this can help a little, but definitely not if someone is completely out of shape- it certainly won't improve their 5-6 seconds in a 5 or 10 km race. If anything, skates could make that much of a difference if it were a truly revolutionary idea.
  17. I just hope this has been tested somewhere before, because I remember in Sochi 2014, where the USA introduced some super-new suits that turned out to be worse than the older ones, and they had to go back to the older ones during the Games due to the disastrous results of the all USA team
  18. Could you send a link to these rumors about new time-advantage suits? Where did you get the information that Italy will also be using them, and have the Italians tested these suits anywhere? Unfortunately, this sport is practically nonexistent in the media here, and it's difficult to find any information.
  20. Ghiotto was the absolute dominant in the 10k until 2025, but since this season, several skaters have made significant progress. This hasn't happened before: in 2022, van der Poel was the clear favorite and confidently won gold. No one has surpassed him with an 8-10 second improvement in this distance year by year. Ghiotto may be a lack of 1 year of completing his winning streak, missing the Olympic gold in the 10 km, which he certainly deserved, but unfortunately, sport isn't always fair. Van der Poel perfectly timed his period of dominance and retired at a relatively young age, yet he won it all. Perhaps he knew his body was saying stop and he wouldn't be able to break further time limits, something the Swede would have to do to keep winning the 5 and 10 km.
  21. The all Dutch men seemed out of form in Inzell. Could this mean some intense strength training during this period? Overall, I think that, the progress in the men's long-distance events has been incredible since last year and I have the impression that both Ghiotto and the Netherlands team haven't caught on to some new equipment updates? The times achieved this season by: Eitrem, Jilek, Lubinaud, Semyrunyyi and Davson are incredible in terms of time progress year by year. But considering the financial potential of the Netherlands, I'm surprised they could have to by left behind technologically? Unfortunately, this doesn't surprise me in Italy's case, as we don't even have a single indoor track to test our technological innovations – the one in Milan is currently inaccessible even to the hosts. Of course, if Italy were a normal country, who supported their own athletes, the track in Milan should have been available only for the Italian team for many months ago, where would be testing various innovations there, but unfortunately that is not the case, because we live where we live
  22. Stolz recently lost twice to Zurek in the 500 meters, so I don't know if he'll even be a favorite there. He will have certain favourite in the 1000 and 1500 meters. Mass starts are a lottery and in the team race, putting him in would be a significant risk, because the team USA is incredibly well-coordinated without him and has been undefeated for 2 years. It's not certain that even someone very strong like him won't disrupt this lineup. Maybe, they only put him in the quarterfinals and give him the gold medal for only that race? In any case, for me he can realistically count on 2-3 gold medals individually + a question mark regarding the team race. Overall, I think he should focus on 500-1000-1500, instead of dreaming of 5 gold medals. And if he will win those 3 gold medals, he can then, with a clear head, attempt the mass start at the last race of the Games.
  24. I keep writing about it – about the wasted opportunity in 2006 and now. The government should have started doing this in 2019, when we were awarded the Olympics. And it should have been a bipartisan program, because we've had probably 3 prime ministers since then? Did you see what it looked like? The bobsleigh track was built literally at the last minute. Of course, they had a brilliant excuse: it was Covid, but I'm not convinced of that. 5 years have passed since 2021. Work could have started then and you're right that there's simply a miss of political plan and interest. But why apply to host these Olympics if you don't want doing anything?
