  1. In Italy Giovanni Malago- the head of CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) will reach an agreement with any government: the centre-left, the technical government and now the right-wing coalition led by Prime Minister Meloni
  2. According to bookmakers and most predictions we could win about 45 medals, including 12 gold. The number of gold medals was perfectly predicted. In terms of the total medals, we tied with Tokyo - 40 medals but we fell a little short of 45. 20x 4th place played a significant role. We reached the number of 40 medals thanks to a great finish - 10 medals in the last 3 days. However, I wrote earlier that I would prefer gold in women's volleyball than even 4-5 bronze medals more in some individual competition and that's exactly what happened - this is our first gold in a team sport since 2004 and the first in history in volleyball. That's why I consider these games a moderate success, although of course it can always be better.
  3. Montenegro probably had it`s best team just after separating from Serbia? Am I right?
  4. Instead of looking to the south of Europe, maybe they should follow the example of Norway and Sweden?
  5. Objectively, the USA is better because they won many more medals, so in my opinion it's good that they take 1st place here, just as I think we are at a higher level than Korea, even though we won 1 gold less.
  6. All the more so because in winter sports they are also much weaker than they used to be. Maybe instead of choosing cool prime ministers - like this attractive woman - they should choose competent people who will revive competitive sports in Finland?
  7. These are objective calculations that we have the most 4th and 5th places (5th place in judo is the first place behind the podium). On paper we should win about 45 medals here - that's what the bookmakers' predictions indicated before the games. But personally, I prefer gold in volleyball than 4-5 bronze in track cycling or archery.
  9. Objectively, we should be in 8th place, if not for Korea's sensational efficiency in gold medals, but that's nothing. If at least 1/4 of these 4th places were converted into medals, it would be our absolute record + add injuries, illnesses, bad luck, etc.
  10. But she competed in Tokyo and at the 2023 World Championships, only then was she in poor form and didn`t win medals. Only here did the Taiwanese and Algerian jump out in such high form. I`m interested in this weight class because of the successes of our Irma Testa and she won gold at the World Championships in 2023. In Tokyo 2021, the gold was won by a Japanese woman who is no longer competing and in the final she defeated Petecio from the Philippines.
  12. It's always easier for an authoritarian country in this regard. Look at the DDR: was about 16 million population but they managed to win a similar number of medals as the much larger USSR in some editions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Germany
  13. Before the Beijing Olympics, the central government in China designated each province to train a different sport. In the USA, this is not possible. There, each state has its own independence, and training is based on universities. This cannot be centrally controlled but this is the only way to clearly beat China.
  14. Ok, but once upon a time divers from the USA, Canada, or Russia were able to beat the Chinese, but since the beginning of the 21st century they practically can't anymore beat him. What has changed since then?
  15. I wonder if anyone is able to compete equally in diving with China? Maybe they should try to change the rules to make the competition more equal? Competing only for 3rd place in individual starts is a bit boring, and there are a lot of such competitions there. Table tennis is not that big of a problem, because there are only 5 events, I think.
  16. The USA still wins the most medals but China is going more into specialization, e.g. in diving they have collected a dozen or so gold medals (a full set). The USA has recently entered fencing and wrestling more strongly but these are still not disciplines where they can be 100% sure of gold, like China in diving or table tennis. In general, the USA, as a country, has big problems now, also financial ones and this is also reflected in sports. It`s not an authoritarian country that tried to cover up its internal problems by winning a lot of medals at the games, e.g. the USSR, the DDR, etc.
  17. I hope that tomorrow we will win the women's volleyball final against the USA and their 1st place in the medal table will be strong dangerous by this :P
  19. If it`s definitely kidney stones, then they probably can't stop him from competing. It`s a very painful disease but it`s not a dangerous. After all, if it was dangerous for life Tamberi would not have received permission to start from CONI, like Garozzo, who felt well but had heart problems.
  20. I was only in hospital once with that, because I didn't know what it was and I was afraid it was something serious. Later, I had kidney stone attacks many times in my life, both bigger and smaller. I simply knew how to do: take the right medication and be constantly moving. Such an attack usually lasted about 2-3 hours. Vomiting did happen, but not blood. Such an attack could pass in a few minutes and I felt good right away. Afterwards, I often wanted to eat. The doctor told me that drinking a lot of Coca-Cola can increase the number of these stones in the kidneys.
  21. I have had many attacks of renal colic in my life and I have never vomited blood. When I went to the hospital the first time, I got an injection and it went away the same day. Since Tamberi was in the hospital a few days ago in Italy, it`s impossible that they didn`t find another large stone in the second kidney, since he had tests done. And only large stones can cause severe pain. Maybe it is a different disease?

  23. We are going to win 2 golds in boxing but we won't even have 1 bronze. It's the biggest shame about Abbes in the 92 kg category, because the Uzbek, who he lost to after a questionable result in the 1st round, won gold today and won all the next fights very confidently. If the Italian had made it through the 1st round, he would probably be happy with gold today. And we might miss that 1 gold very much at the very end of the games
  24. I have friends in Poland and I know that you no longer have the right-wing government that you used to have. This new one probably won't make a circus out of sports and this fight?
