  1. 5th for Dunfee in the men’s 20km race walk. Valiant effort.
  2. 3rd red card for Barrondo
  3. Barrondo with another red card This guy
  4. Wouldn’t a good result be him finishing?
  5. Does CBC really have to be going to ads during the middle of the race? I mean seriously, we’re here to watch sports not 80% ads.
  6. 50km was a great event, yeah But I’m talking about the judges, I see people take their heels off the ground all of the time and… nothing. Edit: Didn’t see @heywoodu’s reply.
  7. Given I won’t have time to do it later, I’ll start on my preview for today. Evan Dunfee is going for a medal in the men’s 20km race walk right now, women’s 3x3 team takes on Germany in pool play at 12:30/3:30 AM, women’s eight go in the repechage at 1:10/4:10 AM, women’s foil team takes on France in the quarterfinals at 2:50/5:50 AM, Sanford takes on Abdullaev in the men’s 63.5kg boxing quarterfinals at 3:56/6:56 AM, women’s basketball team will continue their group stage campaign against Australia at 4:30/7:30 AM, Sophie Bukovec/Heather Bansley try to advance out of the group stage in women’s beach volleyball at 7:00/10:00 AM, Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on Casper Ruud in the men’s singles quarterfinals at 7:00/10:00AM, Felix Auger-Aliassime/Gaby Dabrowski take on Machac/Siniakova in the mixed doubles semifinals at 9:00 AM/12:00 PM, and Summer McIntosh goes for gold in the women’s 200m butterfly at 11:30 AM/2:30 PM, women’s 3x3 team takes on Germany in pool play at 12:30/3:30 AM, and finally our women’s 4x200m freestyle relay goes for a medal at 1:03/4:03 PM. El-Nahas also goes for a medal in men’s -100kg judo.
  8. Still can’t believe this is an Olympic event
  9. Another decent day overall, slightly overshadowed by the fact that we suffered our biggest disappointment of the Olympics thus far. Illya Kharun, won Canada’s only medal of the day with a bronze in the men’s 200m butterfly, with a HUGE NR of 1:52.80, taking almost a second off his previous mark. Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Medvedev for the first time in eight meetings in the men’s singles round of 16 in tennis, then later later teamed up with Dabrowski in the mixed doubles quarterfinals to defeat Gauff/Fritz. Women’s soccer team beat Colombia 1-0, off another goal by Gilles to advance to the quarterfinals, despite facing a lot of adversity with the drone scandal. Canada defeated China in waterpolo to pretty much keep their quarterfinal hopes alive. Tyler Mislawchuk and Charles Paquet finishing 8th and 13th in the men’s triathlon. And finally, our women’s 3x3 team demolishing China 21-11 to improve to 2-0. As for the disappointments, we’ll nothing will beat Tammara Thibeault losing to Ngamba by split decision during the women’s 75kg round of 16. She hadn’t lost a match the entire Olympic cycle. Jill Moffatt/Jenny Casson failing to advance to the final in women’s lightweight double sculls (and well off an advancing time) was another, they were medal contenders. Caeli McKay/Kate Miller finished 4th in women’s 10m synchro, and while it is a good result for them it’s now Caeli’s 2nd in a row. Felix Dolci had a nightmare of a day in the men’s all-around, falling numerous times on the bar to finish in 20th. Leylah Fernandez/Dabrowski losing to Andreeva/Schnaider in straight sets in the women’s doubles round of 32, including getting bageled in the 2nd set. Lastly, Melissa Humana-Parades/Brandie Wilkerson losing to Esmee/Zoe in 3 in women’s beach volleyball group stage action
  10. Good night! Back up in an hour and a half I’ll do the rundown of the day of Canadian action as soon as I wake up.
  11. Sanford gets Abdullaev in the quarterfinals of men’s 63.5kg No medal for him unfortunately Edit: Jinx works AGAIN!
  12. Can anyone do the calculations and tell me what needs to do to avoid in their half? Or is there no chance?
  13. Serbia, Spain, Australia, South Sudan.
  14. Why would there need to be a backup? It’s not like the triathlon, the race walk will take place tomorrow
  15. I suggest you wear a toque! So that you can sneak wireless earbuds underneath obviously, and at the very least get to listen to the action.
  16. OK, I know we had a decent day today, but I still can’t believe Thibeault lost Ngamba is a tricky boxer to face but still… FYI she’s turning pro after this, but she hasn’t ruled out a return to amateur boxing for LA 2028, hopefully we’ll be seeing her make another run.
  17. Going to sleep after I’ve finished the athletics prediction contest, and waking up at 10:00pm. Fingers crossed for Dunfee!
  18. / means that the match has yet to be played and the winner will either take on one or the other Stupid scheduling to be honest, only having 3 of the 4 quarterfinals on the same day.
  19. Poppy cheering on Crozon (her mom) gets my vote for the gold medal for the most heartwarming moment of the day https://www.instagram.com/p/C-GCcyqNuVH/?igsh=NTc3MzVzOHl2cWdl
