  1. Of course I understand it. As right now you are 3 active Irish users, it would not make sense to create a sub-forum just for you. Maybe it would if one day the Irish community would grow so much that writing here in the national thread would not be enough for you anymore and you would like to have different sections and threads to talk about Irish athletes results, medal prospects etc. Also, being English your language it makes it less useful than for other nations, where they could also gather users who are not active here because they don't speak English or feel shy to write in another language.
  2. I translated the message and I'm not sure what you mean with the last sentence You are afraid of the... ? Anyway, we can give a try with no stress and see how it goes. There is nothing to loose, there are no expenses because I already pay for the server, if it will not take off we can just close it or try again later.
  3. Absolutely, that should be one of the priorities when setting up those sub-forums. But I think we can easily avoid that. Ideally, sub-forums would take the place of Facebook groups of olympic sport fans, giving them a better place to discuss rather than a Facebook group. And at most, it would take the place of National Threads, because for nations with lots of users I think one single national thread is not enough. We have seen that with India in the past, there were so many users that the National thread was not enough anymore for them and they moved to whatsapp groups. In general, I think people interested to interact with people from the rest of the world would not leave Totallympics for their national sub-forum. A national sub-forum would bring more people who does not want to use English language or that simply are not interested to talk with people from all around the world. But I agree that is something we should be careful on and that is why I think... ...this idea could be dangerous because a multi-nations forum would take the place of the main Totallympics for spanish/portuguese speaking fans and that is not what we want.
  4. Yeah. That would be basically like moving to a Facebook group, of course with more features. The mobile experience would probably be better, but I also see many negative points.
  5. I'm not usre how tapatalk work, but if I'm not wrong that would mean to "sell" the forum to them?
  6. No, unfortunately that is not possible. It would lead to also ignoring posts from users you don't ignore.
  7. The forum will be public, so everyone can join. Of course I am talking about Canadian users because they will be the more interested But yes everyone can join. And what about the greek forum ?

  9. Not that much time is necessary, I would set up the forum, then it would be your task to run it but if all the users will contribute it will not be impossible to grow day after day. I think Brazil has a great potential because there are a lot of olympic fans around the web, but from I know they are all spread here and there, there is not an "olympic forum" yet, and we could create that. Once the content will be there, people will start joining. One very important thing is to choose the right name, I said brazil.totallympics.com, but you guys might have a better idea for that. I say it is very important because once we choose it, it would be very difficult to change it, so it's better if you take your time to choose the best one
  10. Nice to hear that. I would need a sort of "go to guy" to set this up, if someone is available to be that person please let me know
  11. I get your point. When you say I don't react and tolarate posts I accept the criticism, but it's not like I do that because I enjoy seeing provocations or because I don't care. I use it as a tactic, which maybe is not the best one everytime, but it's still a tactic. I find useless to permanently ban in the internet world (if not in case of spam), because I have no way to stop people to come back one day or one year later with another username, another IP etc. Deleting posts and keep an eye on "tricky" users, let's call them like that, allow me and the community to know who is writing it, it gives me the chance to moderate their posts when necessary, it gives users the chance to use the ignore function agiainst them so that their posts will not appear anymore. Banning them will not stop them, on the contrary it might increase their anger and frustration, they will get back to do what they did with another username, and if they are good and people can't recognize who they are, they will give the feeling there are even more people like them. Again, I'm not saying this is the best way to limit these situations, but I just wanted to explain my point of view. I know it's not easy but the best way, as in real life, is just to ignore them.
  12. Yeah absolutely! You can all use Totallympics whenever you want to interact with sport fans from all the other nations. That's a good point though, the Indian representation on Totallympics should not decrease because of that.
  13. That's nice, let's keep in touch in the next days. But please note it will not be an "Indian Thread", it will be an "Indian forum" So the home page of india.totallympics.com will look more or less like Totallympics' home page. There will be less sections than here of course, and maybe for indian smaller sports like handball, pentathlon, water polo, diving etc. it won't be necessary to have one section for each of them but you could one one section for "other sports", while for big sports like badminton, shooting, field hockey etc you will have a section. But this is something we can discuss at a later stage.
  14. Well, I'm sure there are a lot of french olympic fans around the web so with a good community they would surely join When I started the forum from scratch and it was really difficult, but if we setup the French forum we would already have some users to make it active. And you know how these things work, more people will attract more people. Besides, I'm sure you all have some places where you talk about sports where you can find some more people interested to join
  15. Nice to hear there is interested into that! I'm sure if you will all join and contribute it will become an amazing place for Indian sport fans. I would need a person who would be the "admin" of the forum. Then of course you can all contribute, but an admin is needed to take some decisions, such as the name of the sub-domain, the structure, how to make the community grow etc. Is there someone interested for this position?

  24. Unfortunately right now this is the maximum level of mobile freindly we can reach. The only way to go over would be creating an app, but that would be very expensive. Surfing the forum from the mobile's browser is pretty mobile friendly from what I know, there are also push notifications from the browser. What do you think is lacking to be more attractive from mobile? Thanks!
