  1. PAMPLONA BULLS Pamplona is a Spanish city located in the autonomous community of Navarre. It has a long history dating back to Roman times when it was known as Pompaelo. During the Middle Ages, Pamplona was an important commercial and cultural center, and the capital of the Kingdom of Navarre. The link between Pamplona and bulls dates back to the 14th century when the first bullfights were held during the city's patron saint festival, San Fermín. The festival became famous thanks to the novel "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway, which described the running of the bulls through the streets of Pamplona. During the San Fermín festival, which takes place in July, bulls are released into the streets and run alongside daring participants. When visiting Pamplona you have to go to: Plaza del Castillo: This is the main square of the city, surrounded by historic buildings and lively cafés. Cathedral of Santa Maria: This Gothic cathedral dates back to the 14th century and is located in the heart of the old town. Citadel of Pamplona: A 16th-century fortress located in the center of the city, built to defend against French invasions. Plaza de Toros de Pamplona: This is Pamplona's bullring, which hosts bullfights during the San Fermín festival. The Walls of Pamplona: These ancient walls date back to the medieval period and surround the old town of Pamplona. TYPICAL FOOD - LOS PINTXOS: Pintxos are small snacks or appetizers that are a popular culinary tradition in the Basque Country, including Pamplona. The city has a lively pintxos scene, with numerous bars and restaurants serving up a variety of delicious pintxos. Some of the most popular pintxos in Pamplona include: Gilda: This pintxo consists of a skewer with olives, anchovies, and pickled peppers. Tortilla de patatas: A classic Spanish dish, this pintxo features a thick potato omelet cut into small squares. Croquetas: These are small fried balls made with a béchamel sauce and various fillings, such as ham or seafood. Txistorra: This is a type of Basque sausage often served grilled or sliced as a pintxo. Bacalao: Salt cod is a popular ingredient in many Basque dishes, including pintxos, often served with garlic or tomato sauce. In Pamplona, pintxos are often enjoyed with a glass of local wine or cider, making for a delicious and authentic culinary experience. 2. TOLEDO EAGLES Toledo is a historic city in central Spain, located on a rocky hill overlooking the Tagus River. It has been inhabited since Roman times and has a rich cultural and architectural heritage that reflects its diverse history. During the Visigothic period, Toledo was the capital of the Kingdom of the Visigoths and an important cultural and religious center. In the 8th century, it was conquered by the Moors and became a center of Muslim culture and learning. In 1085, Toledo was captured by King Alfonso VI of Castile, and it became a Christian city once again. Over the centuries, it became an important political, religious, and cultural center, with a thriving Jewish community and a flourishing arts scene. Toledo is known for its stunning architecture, including: The Alcázar: A fortress that has been used as a palace, a military academy, and a museum. Cathedral of Toledo: A Gothic masterpiece that is one of the most important religious buildings in Spain Puente de San Martín: A medieval bridge that spans the Tagus River. Toledo is also famous for its artistic heritage, particularly its production of damascene metalwork, which involves inlaying gold and silver into iron or steel to create intricate designs. The city's museums and galleries showcase the work of both local and international artists, and the streets are lined with workshops and boutiques selling everything from ceramics to textiles. Today, Toledo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination TYPICAL FOOD: Toledo is famous for its traditional cuisine, which features a blend of influences from Christian, Jewish, and Muslim cultures. Here are some typical dishes you might find in Toledo: Carcamusas: This is a stew made with pork, tomatoes, onions, and white wine. It is typically served with potatoes or bread. Migas: This is a dish made with bread crumbs, garlic, and olive oil. It is usually served with chorizo, bacon, or other meats. Duelos y quebrantos: This is a dish made with eggs, chorizo, and bacon. It is often served for breakfast or brunch. Mazapán: This is a sweet almond paste that is shaped into various figures and sold in many of the bakeries and candy shops in Toledo. It is a popular souvenir for visitors to the city. Queso Manchego: This is a cheese made from sheep's milk in the La Mancha region of Spain, which includes Toledo. It is a staple in Spanish cuisine and is often served as an appetizer or with bread and wine. Pisto Manchego: This is a dish made with sautéed vegetables, such as eggplant, zucchini, and peppers, in a tomato sauce. It is similar to ratatouille and is often served as a side dish or with bread. These are just a few examples of the delicious food that you can try in Toledo, which offers a rich culinary heritage and plenty of options for foodies. 8. New NR in football league Exactly 141 spectators attended Yesterday´s game Liptovský Mikuláš vs Skalica It is already the second time this season less than 200 people attended our Fortuna-Liga match (and the lowest ever amount of spectators, if not counting the games without spectators or the 20/21 season under Covid measures ofc) funny enough also the previous record was set in the match between both teams, but played in Skalica This season it was already the 5th match with less than 400 spectators in the stands Can someone finally answer me, for whom and why is this competition actually being played ? what an incredible waste of money for something that nobody is interested ... even the basketball league (I am really serious) has bigger audiences so to say... 19. The public general level of interest in our club football was already very low in the last decades, this is nothing new, *older "prehistoric" uncomfortable stadiums, *bigger clubs from bigger cities for financial and other reasons gradually went bankrupt or disappeared from our National top tier league resulting on *small towns clubs without special fanbase playing the Top-Tier league, *major european leagues games in TV easily accessible, *very poor quality of football, I mean watching 90 minutes in a freezing weather of absolute boredome where 22 guys are literally walking on the pitch here and there and time by time someone kick the ball some 20 meters wide of the goal is already not the most tempting idea to do on your Saturday evening... but this season it really touched the absolute new level. It was some time ago when some our clubs wanted to restart the Czecho-Slovak league, found even aggreement on the Czech side, I do believe this would help a lot, but UEFA did not allow it and immediatelly stopped this "rebellion" and then we have the situation we have now. Extreme waste of money in a completely unattractive competition that does not attract anyone

  20. @intoronto you notified me here, apparently I can't answer you back in that thread apparently Zangeneh received the 3rd caution in the last seconds and lost the match by 3 cautions disqualification despite leading the scoreboard. (which is confusing for those who are not 100% familiar with this sport) he is OK. not bad but not good either. once repesented Iran at the World U23 Champs and won a bronze medal with a dream draw. he will never win a world medal but probably good enough to qualify for the Olympics from Pan-Ams. (if don't run into USA and maybe Cuba) but I saw another familiar name, Mehdi Zeidvand who lost to Zangeneh in freestyle but just won the Greco competition. Zeidvand represented Iran in World senior Champs before. this is probably near the end of his career

  37. So while Saturday's games are still going, Sunday's games are going to start in a few hours. Nothing too interesting in Pool B. Korea will hope their disastrous tournament doesn't get worse against the Czech Republic. Japan and Australia face off for the top seed in the Pool. Final day in the Pool of Chaos (Pool A). Sunday is going to be a lot of fun. Here's the scenarios: Scenario 1: Taiwan beats Cuba, Netherlands beats Italy: Taiwan finishes 1st. Netherlands finishes 2nd. Cuba is forced to requalify for the 2026 tournament. Scenario 2: Cuba beats Taiwan, Netherlands beats Italy: Netherlands finishes 1st. Cuba, Panama and Taiwan are tied at 2-2. Cuba would finish 2nd based on the head-to-head tie-breaker. Italy is forced to requalify. Scenario 3: Taiwan beats Cuba, Italy beats Netherlands: Taiwan finishes 1st. Italy, Netherlands, and Panama are tied at 2-2. Since they would all have a head-to-head record of 1-1 against each other, the next tie breaker is used which is runs allowed per innings defended. Cuba is forced to requalify. Scenario 4: Cuba beats Taiwan, Italy beats Netherlands: All 5 teams finish at 2-2. Runs allowed per innings defended would be used. Right now, here's the runs allowed stats. Netherlands: 0.444 Cuba: 0.538 Panama: 0.600 Italy: 0.615 Taiwan: 0.889

  38. The Oscars are this sunday, so naturally here I am with my annual predictions post. Last year was very predictable, so much that I got 22/23 correct picks. This most certainly won't happen this year, as we finally have some exciting races across the board (Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress are very hard to predict). It's been some time we don't have a Best Picture winner that also wins 6 or more Oscars. This could happen this time if the Academy goes crazy for Everything Everywhere. Right now I'm predicting 6 wins, but I can see a scenario where it wins 8 (extremely optimistic) or just 4 awards. Hopefully we get some surprise wins cause last year ceremony was kinda boring ("slap" fiasco aside). Almost managed to watch all the 54 nominated movies (including shorts), except for Avatar: The Way of Water, which had only dubbed sessions at the nearby theaters (and so far isn't available on streaming/VOD). ["will win" is my prediction / "could win" is my alternate prediction / "should win" is my personal ranking from what I've watched / "shoud have been nominated" is a way to remember other notable work].

  48. I found results from 1997 onwards, but i think this was only the second time we ever had a podium at men's junior level without Norway/France/Russia/Germany/Italy/Sweden, first time was in 2003. I think this was also the first ever medal for both Poland and New Zealand at men's junior level. The most surprising thing for me is that this wasn't a fluke result. All 3 guys had very good skiing times, Campbell had the fastest time, Gunka had the 6th fastest time and Germain had the 7th fastest time. Tomorrow in the pursuit Campbell will start 52 seconds before Hedegart who was 4th today, so him not winning another medal would be rather disappointing. It will be interesting to see how those 3 will develope. In the past we had many great talents from "exotic" nations that never did anything at senior level. I remember that i was very high on Repinc for example and now she looks completely lost. I guess talent doesn't matter much when you don't have the infrastructure to build on it. Not sure if any of those guys could train with bigger nations, i imagine that it would be close to impossible for Wright/Germain to do that.

  49. Grotian with the most expected gold of the competition in women's junior sprint, 52 seconds ahead of second place. I think since 2000 there were only 3 women who won by a bigger margin, Wierer won by 61 seconds in 2011, Neuner won by 62 seconds in 2005 and Dahlmeier won by 108 seconds in 2013.
