  1. Our very own @Werloc is competing in the second heat of the Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision 2021 tonight. The top 5 acts make it to the semi-finals. I believe Werloc is act number 8 tonight. You can see him perform here in the next few minutes: https://www.lrt.lt/mediateka/tiesiogiai/lrt-lituanica Good luck @Werloc... I listened to your song and it is great!

  7. This is fairly typical... Our teams (but handballers in particular) are always far from their best when playing against lower ranked teams. Back in Rio, they actually defeated both gold and silver medalists, but lost to Poland and Qatar. With 32 teams on board from now on, I guess it is bound to reoccur more often in the future...

  8. Croatia couldn't simply score in the 2nd half, Argentina's defense was GREAT. Croats rarely created any chance. it wasn't like ARG GK had to save much. Croatia scored 1 at the start and I think only 2 goals in next 25 minutes !

  11. As the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, Swimming Canada has invoked the unexpected circumstances clause of its Olympic team nomination criteria, and is postponing the Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials until late May. Swimming Canada will also plan a supplementary Olympic qualifying opportunity in June. The clause allows the Swimming Canada Selection Committee to determine if unexpected or unusual circumstances have arisen during the process of applying these Criteria and have the full and absolute discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant. Any such exercise of discretion shall be subject to the Canadian administrative law principles of fairness. The following swimmers have been provisionally nominated by Swimming Canada’s Selection Committee for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, for the following specific individual events: Kylie Masse (Lasalle, Ontario), 100m and 200m backstroke Margaret Mac Neil (London, Ontario), 100m butterfly Penny Oleksiak (Toronto, Ontario), 200m freestyle Sydney Pickrem (Halifax, Nova Scotia), 200m breaststroke, 200m and 400m individual medley Taylor Ruck (Kelowna, British Columbia), 100m freestyle Markus Thormeyer (Delta, British Columbia), 200m backstroke More: https://www.swimming.ca/en/news/2021/01/22/six-swimmers-provisionally-nominated-to-represent-team-canada-at-tokyo-2020/

  13. ahh I remember being so frustrated, our team also tied Russia in the 2nd game but then fell apart for the final games and even failed to beat KSA which would have qualified them for the next round.

  23. Not really, they need to beat a Denmark team that (probably) will already have secured 1st place and hope Argentina lose to Qatar. Both things are perfectly possible.

  30. For me that was the French relay team for the world champs. Guigonnat and Desthieux showed two good Relays, while all four Relays from Claude wasn‘t really good. As well the other four were better in the last individual races. Doll looked very killed in the finish. Such strong Yesterday, and today ...

  34. Last week Tom Dumoulin said he was looking forward to the season. Tour de France, Olympics and world championships were the main goals. Today he announced he's going to take a break in his career for an unknown period of time, so that's most likely it for at least this year.

  37. If the 2008 financial crisis didn't teach you that the rich will always get away with their greed and the poor will always pay the debts I don't know what else will? Just watch The Big Short if anything. USA and North America in general remains in awe of the "free market controls everything" and if anything goes wrong (which it usually does on a repeated basis) then all the fancy economists from left & right are quick to blame the faceless "market" or "system" clearly forgetting there are specific people behind every system to begin with. It's no coincidence Alan Greenspan - the most powerful US economist of the last 30+ years was a staunch critic of the Keynes theories because he (AG) wants the market to rule everything under every circumstances - including the poor paying off the rich's debts.

  39. I wonder if Japan didn't leak the news of possible cancellation of the Games to test out the global opinion? If the response would be overwhelmingly negative then they'd have to tough it out and hold the Games at all costs?

  40. Money is crystallised sweat. Remove the link between money & work and whatever you once called money becomes mere paper, and something else becomes money. Denying this is like denying ice is cold. A whole century of history bears this out. Anyone who says the contrary is either a fool or is bent on destruction.

  41. Trump administration introduced the"Muslim travel ban" at the very beginning of his term, abandoned Kurds allies right after use and yet pretending care Uighur muslim minorities in China and decided it is a genocide on the last day of his term. Please at least show some real care like grating Uighur terrorists green card but not stupidly stop importing cotton and tomatoes.

  43. Also a few of northern cities back to sealed off, provincial boarder roadblock back to stage. The most import thing is that government urge people not go back to hometown for Chinese new year with a potential and unclear compulsory quarantine. I bought return tickets already and also ready to be forced cancel my trip anytime. My experience told me this extremely cunning virus can only be controlled by vaccine or herd immunity. Manpower can hardly contain it by all means of intervence.
