  1. What's wrong with 300 m rifle though? That's real shooting compared to that 10 m air convenience bullshit.

  2. Rødovre Station - Photo: Secondarywaltz - Wiki We’re back in the greater Copenhagen area, where we can welcome @Vektor, @Cobi, @Bohemia and @Benolympique to Rødovre. It was at the local high school that the band Sods played their very first concert back in 1977 in 1981 the band changed name to Sort Sol and later participated in the 2017 TISC Open. Just like many other towns in the greater Copenhagen area, Rødovre was a small farming village before Copenhagen started growing. During the war against Sweden in 1660 the church of the village was destroyed and the villagers ordered to go to another church nearby. In the end of the 1800s, new fortifications around Copenhagen was built including ramparts in the west, cutting small parts of the town from the rest. Rødovre remained a mainly rural town until about 1930, where it became more of a modern suburb. As a such it started growing rapidly and even had the first indoor mall in Denmark. Vestvolden - Photo: Ole Andersen - Flickr It is hard to mention Rødovre and sports without mentioning ice hockey.Rødovre has won the Danish championships 6 times and several of the Danish NHL stars including Jannik Hansen, Mikkel Bødker and Lars Eller had their domestic career here. Heerup Museum - Photo: Ramblersen - Wiki To spend some time here, we recommend the Heerup museum, walking along the old wester ramparts and visiting the cold war bunker, Ejbybunkeren just like a stroll around the Damhus Lake is lovely.

  7. There's always the Pan American Games (or the CAC Games) and the Asian Games (also the SEA Games for Malaysia). I have to say I see no reason for the CWG to exist. It's very embarrassing to watch so many nations playing along by letting an old woman claim to be their queen. I mean, the British invaded their territories, stole natural resources, enslaved and killed a bunch of people, forced the survivors to learn their language and centuries later they want everybody to celebrate by playing lawn bowls.

  8. Tønder Station - Photo: Mef.ellingen - Wiki We can now welcome @Function CR Lee, @Manulete and @mrv86 to Tønder, just North of the German border. This is hometown of this year’s Danish TISC Annual contestant, Jacob Dinesen. The city goes back a long way, but the first signs of the city in literature is in fact the Arabian cartographer al-Idrisi who mentions the town in the 1100s. It became the first market town of Denmark when it got its rights in 1243 with trade happening from the original harbor. With the close proximity to Germany the city saw plenty of trade and travel to and from Germany. However to prevent flooding, dykes were built meaning that Tønder isn’t by the sea any longer. Just like the rest of southern Jutland, Tønder was German from 1864 to 1920. Nowadays Tønder is most well known for it’s annual Music Festival, Tønder Festival with folk music as main genre. Among the acts on this year’s festival was former TISC participant Hudson Taylor. Tønder - Photo: Clemensfranz - Wiki Tønder isn’t that much of a sports city. The best handball team, TM Tønder Håndbold, was however in the best series for a couple of years.’Former football national team Henning Munk Jensen is however from Tønder. Tønder Museum and Water tower - Photo: Jürgen Howaldt - Wiki Even though Tønder is a rather small city, we’ll make sure that you will have ways to spend your time here. We have a fine museum of cultural history, a nice exhibition of chairs from the famous designer Hans Wegner, plenty of beautiful nature, lots of historical buildings and several lovely towns nearby.

  14. I assume they weren't interested. Olympic Qualification is different than continental Championships. those without chance aren't usually interested there is also possible for Iran to withdraw. PS: in the men's tournament, they replaced Pakistan with the next team Kazakhstan, so I think they offered that to the next team here too.

  15. Can we get sort of a headcount of people who are as sure as they can be that they will or will not be here on Saturday? Obviously except for special and sudden circumstances It could make it a bit easier for the hosts to know whether or not they should post someone's votes or wait. The Netherlands will be present, so if I'm late for some reason (I get distracted easily, but I'll set an alarm), just mention me and I should be here.

  19. I think they'll start with Aegon the Conquerer though. Anyway, we will wait for maybe 10 years until Martin publishes the second part of "Fire and Blood". I have 30-40 pages more to finish the first part. Fun to read, really. And the Dance of the Dragons is so sad part. What a stupid way to lose dragons. I wanted HBO's Daenerys to burn the citizens of King's Landing -.-

  20. Nice one. btw just last night Andrei Svechnikov scored a similar one against my Flames anyway, the real starters and most perfect goal will be forever signed by Mikael Granlund In Slovakia there only one guy famous to score by the same style. Ján Sýkora against the Czechs

  21. Because there's programs my parents like and programs (mostly sports) I like. Watching TV because there's things on it we like seems like a pretty obvious reason to watch TV. "Why do you listen artist X?" "Well, possibly because I like the music of artist X?" Seriously, what a question.

  22. It's not like in 300m shooting they just go around and shoot anything that's 300m away. Really, safety regulations there aren't significantly different than in the 10m events, and if they are, they are most likely stricter. All shooting events should be outside anyway, factoring in the wind in your shooting is as much a skill that's part of the sport as anything.

    Commonwealth Games 2022

I've never really watched 300m rifle shooting, but I can imagine there you actually feel like you see them shooting? In that short distance air rifle stuff you just see them pick their rifle, not move at all, wait for a while until you hear 'tick' and that's it. At least to me it looks so insanely boring

  25. if all 4 top european teams qualify the whole package, then Carlos Llavador in men's Foil should be one of the individual qualifiers (at the moment, he and Kruse are surely the best fencers in our continent outside ITA, FRA, RUS and GER)... then, there are a couple of big "if"... Yulen Pereira has the chance to achieve the qualification in men's Epee, but here the contenders are so many and especially in this weapon it's everything so close that you can never be sure to end up on top of any tournament... and finally, I wouldn't call the women's sabre specialists out before the end of the qualification race...if all the top European teams/fencers qualify earlier, then at the final tournament, one of them could grab an Olympic spot with a bit of luck... at the same time, I don't see any chance for any team, even the men's epee (despite some good results in the recent past, there are too few places available and too many very good teams already ahead of them)...

Well, you guys discussed so many things and completely ignored one point the IOA cheif said https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cwg-waste-of-time-india-should-withdraw-altogether-ioa-president-6025737/ Now this can be considered a serious question. You have a country which is largest, population wise (Funnily even if you add all the other common wealth nations population it doesn't even add up to India's population.) and is not represented any where.

  31. Protests are about the whole system which is terrible not sure if you guys are familiar with politics in Lebanon. but there are 3 big groups in Lebanon. Sunnis, Shias, and Christians, they had bloody civil war for years and to make "peace" they created a unique political system. they have election , which is probably fair and democratic but per rules. the prime minister should be a sunni, the president should be a christian and the parliament speaker should be a Shia. and it doesn't matter who has the majority in the parliament , that rule never changes. and if I'm not wrong (I'm not sure about this part) people only can vote for their own groups. I mean christian people only vote for christian members of the parliament and etc. it seems people don't like it anymore. this is a terrible system to be honest but there is no alternative right now, any other system may lead them again to another civil war. PS: what I wrote here is probably not 100% accurate about the political system in Lebanon ( there should be more details and ifs) but you can consider it almost correct.

  32. of course I'm not complaining, more competition, more fun for me my point is, this is not as prestigious as World Juniors (U20) because at the juniors we have all best U20 wrestlers in the world. not the same here. and the level is relative, very good in some weights and very poor in some other weights. btw your 61kg Ravinder is the biggest surprise of the competition, he dominated the Russian wrestler 11-0 and then pinned the European Senior Champion Harutynyan in the semis considering he didn't medal in World Juniors this year, that's quite an improvement for such a short time, I have to say 61kg was one of those weights in a very high level. the same goes to our 74kg, he didn't medal at World Juniors but he was impressive here, beating the Russian wrestler of Hungary (who was very good in World Seniors this year)

  34. I've always wondered why Asian nations care about the Commonwealth Games. For India, in special, their top athletes have to compete at their best level at the CWG, Asian Games and the World Championships in a single year. It's a bit too much, especially in sports with world tour or world series. Now, after reading all the comments, I don't think leaving shooting out of the next edition is an anti-India thing. It's just a sport that not many countries really care, except for India. But if there are chances for medals in other events, so why even bother? I don't think any Indian shooter seriously dreams to become the next CWG champion, so just focus on the World Championships and the Asian Games. For India to threat dropping out of the Games entirely is an overreaction, and an almost childish-like attitude (unfortunately I've come to expect that from Indian sports representatives).

  35. Aarhus Station - Photo: Villy Fink Isaksen - Wiki Hello @Ionoutz24, @titicow, @vinipereira, @konig and @LDOG. Welcome to Aarhus, the host of the 2015 TISC Annual. But other than that, it is also home of Kris Herman, Danish entry in the 2017 Annual contest. Aarhus Cathedral - Photo: Nico - Wiki Aarhus is one of the oldest existing cities in Denmark, having roots all the way back to around 770 AD, where it was called Aros. The first church was most likely built around 1060. The first parts of the current cathedral was however built around in the end of the 1100s. The city grew around the church and harbor. It was however only in the 1800s that it became one of the biggest cities in Denmark when it grew, especially due to some ambitious business men helping to establish the city. During the late 1900s Aarhus was known as the rock capitol of Denmark and still hosts several music festivals and major concerts. ARoS Art Museum - Photo: Teake Oppewal - Wiki In sports, Aarhus is a has the top basketball club of Denmark, Bakken Bears and noteworthy teams in both handball and football and has hosted several European and World Championships. Among the well known athletes from Aarhus is former badminton star Camilla Martin and sailing gold medalists of 2008, Jonas Warrer and Martin Kirketerp. As a former European Capitol of Culture, we have a lot to show you here in Aarhus. The Old Town, ARoS Art Museum and Moesgaard Museum are must-see attractions, but you can also visit the theme park, Tivoli Friheden, go for a stroll in Mindeparken or by the University and go for a concert in one of many concert venues.

  36. Sønderborg Station - Photo: Beethoven9 - Wiki Well, hello there @Gianlu33, @Henry_Leon, @Pablita, @SteveParker, @Skijumpingmaster and @Wanderer to Sønderborg, birthplace of Raveonettes bassist Sune Wagner. I hope the bus ride was comfortable enough! The history of Sønderborg is too long to mention it all, but it really starts between 1170 and 1230 where Sønderborg Castle was built as a part of the defense against enemies from the South. The city grew and became an important harbor, especially for the trade with the Hanseatic cities in Northern Germany. The former king Christian II was held prisoner in the castle after he tried to retake the nation after losing it to bad decisions in 1523. 341 years later, the city was close to the centre of attention once again during the 2nd Schleswig War, where the most famous battle, the battle of Dybbøl, happened just a few km away and Sønderborg was bombarded as well. After the Danish defeat, Sønderborg and the rest of Schleswig became German territory and was so until 1920. In 1919 a famous historic myth even tells that the German soldier Bruno Topff created the “Republic of Als” in Sønderborg. In 1920 it became Danish again after a referendum and has been so ever since. Sønderborg Castle - Photo: Erik Christensen - Wiki When it comes to sports, Sønderborg isn’t one of the most famous Danish cities. It will however host the finish of the 3rd stage of the 2021 Tour de France. Meanwhile the handball legend Lars Christiansen and former PGA Championships 3rd place Anders Hansen are among the wellknown athletes from the city. Dybbøl Mill - Photo: Erik Christensen - Wiki As it’s very clear, there are certainly plenty of history to get to know with the castle and Dybbøl within a short distance, as well as several other historical sites to see while strolling around. You could also enjoy the lovely nature and of course the coastline. And of course, you can’t be in Southern Jutland without having a go at a classic Sønderjysk Kaffebord!
