  1. Mohammed Ahmed is just as Canadian as me. We are a nation of immigrants, including my family. The topic is done.

  2. guys, can we write only about athletics, please? I think we've gone way too far with arguments that should be discussed in the Politics thread and not here...thanks!

  4. I agree - I apologize and accept responsibility for participating in this and furthering the discussion. I should have just ignored the trolling and provocation of some posters.

  11. All you need is to read the posts of some users on this forum in this thread alone, and it's very easy to understand why extreme right-wing populism is running rampant across Europe
    3 points
  12. That’s an understanding of Canadian-ness that is completely foreign to Canadians.

  13. It's an extreme right-wing talking point, and frankly I'm disturbed that such views are being expressed on a site that's supposed to represent sport at its highest level. These people need to leave their politics at home and stop trying to tell me what Canada is and who a Canadian is.

  14. It's so funny to read your first post, and then have you follow it up with this garbage. Canada, and most western nations do not buy athletes. They are either born there, or settle as immigrants or refugees and then compete for their adopted nation. You are right, facts certainly do not matter when it comes to your posts and comments.

  15. Exactly. Same thing as, for example, Sifan Hassan. Or Mo Farah.

  33. as they wrote, he moved there when he was 11...he's been raised, educated, trained his entire life in Canada...how can people not consider him fully Canadian? OK, his blood is not from there...probably his heart's still bleeding because he had to leave his native Land, but he must be considered Canadian at 100% in any case...
    2 points
  34. To be honest he is not. You're Canadian, he is Somalian with Canadian passport. But he was raised in Canada and probably training in Canada so he's "fruit from your garden" and that's fine with me.

  35. I agree. With all the naturalizations it becomes kind of pointless to have a competition based on nationality. They should just have world championships for teams and not for nations.

  40. Based on history, I bet everyone's using doping but only some get caught. And let's be honest, there's a special emphasis on countries like Russia, China or East Africa while the Western countries are able to get away with it. The last major doping scandal involving track & field athletes from USA only got exposed because it was so big it stretched beyond this single event. Imagine if Coleman was Russian or Kenyan. He'd be eaten alive by all the Western media. Now it's just finding excuses for him. Few years ago I used to hate Dwain Chambers but at least he was honest about his doping. No typical bullshit we hear all the time now.
