  1. With Lourimi taking the silver in monobob, each continental zone in the Olympic Movement now has a medal at the Games. This is only the second time that has happened at the Winter YOG (Innsbruck 2012 being the other). Plus, South America even joined in on the fun this time

  2. are already qualified to the Olympics are in the OQT as a World Team. could qualify to the Olympics as the top European team, but if they don't then they will compete at the OQT as a World Team is eliminated from Olympic contention. can qualify to the OQT (as a World Team) as long as Austria does not get the European quota or Egypt wins the African quota. They cannot qualify to the OQT as a European Team could still qualify to the Olympics. They will need to defeat Iceland, Germany needs to lose to Croatia and then finish higher than Sweden. Austria will qualify to the OQT as a European Team with a win over Iceland. A draw is possible if one of Portugal or Slovenia draws or losses their match or Slovenia qualifies to the OQT as a World Team. will qualify to the OQT as a European Team if they defeat Austria by 15 goals. They could also qualify with a lesser win, but requires Portugal or Slovenia to lose their match and for Iceland to have a better goal differential (at most they would need a 6 goal win) or Slovenia qualifying to the OQT as a World Team. will qualify to the OQT as a European Team with a win over the Netherlands. They can also qualify if they get equal points as Slovenia (both draw or both lose). If Slovenia gets more points, but also qualifies to the OQT as a World Team or Austria wins the European quota then Portugal will qualify. will qualify to the OQT as a World Team if Austria does not get the European quota and Egypt wins the African quota. If not, Slovenia can qualify to the OQT as a European Team if they finish with more points than Portugal. Additionally, if Iceland > Austria then they can qualify with a win, draw or a loss depending on goal differential or if Austria wins the European quota. Overall Austria/Iceland likely determines one European OQT spot while Portugal is in pole position for the other, especially when you consider Portugal's and Slovenia's final opponents and that Slovenia has a decent chance at getting the World Team OQT spot. Still, Denmark has nothing to play for in the final match so Slovenia getting an upset is not impossible.

  5. Sabalenka grunts her way past Krejcikova in convincing fashion 6-2 6-3. Krejcikova really had no answer for Sabalenka's pace and weight of shot and Krejcikova's variety didn't trouble her at all. Gauff next up in the semi-final.

  6. more Russian wrestlers are switching NOC in Olympic year Razambek Zhamalov moved to Uzbekistan and Viktor Rassadin will represent Tajikistan from now on. they are both very good and specially Zhamalov can be a legit medal contender in Paris. you didn't hear much from him because he lost close matches to World/Olympic Champion Sidakov but he is almost as good as Sidakov. 74kg qualifiers in Asia looked easy at first but now it's a completely different thing. with Tsabalov, Salkazanov, Kadimagomedov and couple more. 74kg is more like Russian National Champs. I also can name Shikhjamalov, Kurmagomedov, Shapiev, Asluev, Budazhapov ,,, and there are probably more names

  17. So if wins or draws against they will provisionally get the second OQT spot, if they get the European quota then the second OQT spot goes to . needs to defeat by 15 goals and needs to lose to for them to provisionally get the second OQT spot, if not then it will go to . As mentioned before can still qualify to the OQT as a World Team so two of can still qualify.

  24. So I think this is a record. Bobsleigh / luge competitor Anastasiya Skulkina-Tambovtseva has been banned for 2 years until October 2025 but the positive drug test actually happened in October 2012 and she retired in 2014. The Russians hid the positive test until the Moscow Lab data was revealed a few years ago. She lost an appeal at CAS late last year and the ban was only revealed yesterday. 11 years before she was banned...

  29. [4] Coco Gauff advances to her first career Australian Open semifinal, after defeating Marta Kostyuk 7-6 (6), 6-7 (3), 6-2. 12th Grand Slam match win in a row for her as well. What a horrible, extremely low-quality match, I wanted to shut my TV off but I couldn’t. Neither one could hold serve, Gauff’ kept producing untimely double faults, Kostyuk was complaining the majority of the points. Kostyuk was also up 5-1 in set one, so a big missed opportunity there to wrap it up in straight sets. But honestly, winning a match with 16 winners and 51 (!) unforced errors (compared to Kostyuk’s 39 winners and 56 unforced errors) pretty much tells you all you need to know. Up next the winner of [2] Sabalenka v. [9] Krejcikova
