Top 8 times this year of athletes who will compete at the Olympics (to the best of my knowledge):

In events, where Someone ranked in the top 8 might not compete, I also included the 9th ranked athlete. Below the top 8 I added my prediction for the athletes who will make the final.

Sarah Sjöström, defending champion on 100m fly and WR holder on 50 free and 100 free broke her elbow in february and has recovered good but only made a few races, far from medal level but with the freestyle looking better than the butterfly. She has not decided to give 100 fly a chance with lowered expectations. But considering the improved competition at the distance, I would guess the recovery has been very well last period if she still tries it.

    • I wonder if there is some drawback to this, we'll see I guess, but this sounds like an excellent change I think? I remember Acosta in Paris, that was....not amazing
    • writing here because it's going to heavily impact on the Olympics, but it's part of a way bigger blow for many sports in Italy    earlier Today, the Italian idiots running the government did change the rules about getting the Italian citizenship because of the heritage (ius sanguinis) now, only foreigners with at least 1 parent or grandfather/grandmother born in Italy will be able to ask for our citizenship now all those people with the Italian heritage coming from men/women further down the family tree won't get it because of that (of course they will still be able to earn it following the remaining pathways, like marriage or living here for at least 5 consecutive years -if coming from EU Nations, 10 if coming from outside EU)   this is basically the end of any chance to have an Italian competitive team in all those team sports where there are not enough athletes practicing within our Country like ice hockey, field hockey, baseball, cricket, lacrosse, flag football and even rugby (just to name the olympic sports), all disciplines where we always relied on major help from foreign born Italians   but this soon will affect also a few individual sports, when the consequences of the pandemic stoppage will come into effect (soon)   for this thread's purpose, it' obvious that now we won't have any chance to have a decent hockey team at the 2026 Home Olympics; we are forced to stay with the current shameful B division bunch of drunk players that can't even skate
    • NOC's qualified for the free dance (and eligible for earn Olympic quotas):    x3  x3  x2  x2  x2  x2   20 teams qualified but only 19 will earn quotas.
    • Maybe now the sport news and people here can do a little less celebration the next time a russian figure skater has their own disaster.Karma is a thing in sports too apparently, just had to get a bite in that a russian representing georgian had a disaster that opened the door for one of our own to the olympics. And now our main pair fall, whoops.
    • it took two Olympics (and 4 years) for UWW to finally realize there is a big big flaw in their current rules (we have this since early 2021)   in Greco-Roman, in high level specially in heavier weights it's just hard to score. in this case sometimes the match ends up 1-1. (1 pt for passivity caution for each) under current rules lots of wrestlers decide to be intentionally passive in first 2 minutes to receive the first caution. this created lots of ugly scenes in Olympics. for example  Yasmani Acosta won an Olympic silver in Paris without doing a thing! he was passive in his 3 pre-final matches and won all of them 1-1    UWW will test a new rule at the European Championship next week, only in case of 1-1 and only in Greco-Roman whoever gets the first point wins. I believe this will become an official rule soon, they should make this change long time ago but yet late is better than never   https://uww.org/article/uww-test-new-greco-rule-2025-european-championships
    • are my favorites for the time being.    could definitely grow on me as well. There's very few songs I'd count out before I get the chance to see them during the live shows.     P.S. "Baller"  would play at a trendy shop in LA, and I would enjoy it
    • Yes, correct. Anyway still not officially confirmed by our NOC though
    • They failed to qualify for the free dance by *0.01* points.
    • Massive upset by :LTU Ambruleviciud/Reed scoring 20 points less than usual after a fall and failing to qualify to Olympics. Massive blow and shock as they were basically almost guaranteed top10
