Everything that's electronic can be hacked, so I'm honestly glad we don't use any machines here :d

Interesting, this is the same reason used here from the parties, but in the opposite direction. :d If it is paper voting, there is big chances of fraud, stuffing ballots, other ballots being thrown away etc., while machine voting is seen, as very hard to rig, faster to count and less prone to human error, whether intentional or not.

We have now largely transitioned into the machine voting in the last 2 years and this will also be the case in our next (yet again) Parliament elections in 2 weeks time. Paper voting will be held only in sections with less than 300 people on the lists, in hospitals, elderly or other caring homes, moving voting station for disable or old people and ships at seas. Or in case a machine breaks, which a few always do in every elections so far. :d

Swedish PM resigns (as she also Did the same day she was elected 9 months Ago before she immediately came back).

The parties on the right side Will have 176-173 in the parliament. Nothing is sure though. If the second largest party SD would demand to be part of the governemtn and not only support them, we can be sure that the others and in participating the liberals Will not accept

Thus proving the SDs point that there is no difference between any of the establishment parties. They always unite against the voters to protect their own privileged position, even when they don’t win.

In an attempt to further "control" the internet, Indonesian government are forcing digital service providers to register on government database (and give government even more rights to order removal of any contents they don't like) and threaten to block basically everything on the Internet if they didn't comply 20 July.

The definition of "digital service providers" in this messed-up regulation is a person/entity who owns a system that includes payment/transaction or process personal information. Millions of websites obviously fall in this category and basically the government is demanding the whole net to register. So if @Sindodoesn't register to the Information Ministry by 20 July, this forum will be blocked in Indonesia

Of course this is clearly a scare tactic in hopes of extorting tax from foreign tech giants and has always been proposed by the stupid minister for the last 2 years, but this is the first time they actually set a deadline. Interesting to see what will happen in 4 days

So far only two popular international services have registered: Tiktok and Spotify.

Fast forward 2 months, after initial block with Paypal and some game marketplaces nothing significant happened since then...

What happened is the announcement of fuel price rise and everyone is occupied enough with that, so the Information Ministry is saved from relentless online abuse and they can plan the next shady things... Happy ending.

Well not really :p

Recently the government is having a headache due to the discovery of personal data in government database for sale in the dark web. Moreover a person called Bjorka recently leaked various Indonesian top politicians data (including the Minister of Information) and some people were having fun sending messages to the politicians. The Minister of Information later stopped using his number, prompting more ridicule from the people.

Now police is searching for this Bjorka guy.. They just mistakenly arrested a man selling drinks at a market (who don't even have a computer). And Bjorka having more and more cult-like followers on Telegram.

This is like having a cheap rip-off of DeathNote's Kira cult in your own country (but nobody died from heart attack)

The issue is first and foremost with the media, which is incredibly one-sided. The power that Orbán has in his hands to control the narrative in Hungary is simply ridiculous and it shouldn't have been allowed to happen inside the European Union, but here we are. The EU should have implemented some very strict rules on state controlled media in their member states, so we couldn't end up in a situation where opposition politicians are not even allowed to speak on national television. State controlled media should represent and be for every citizen, it should be neutral, not right-wing or liberal, but here in Hungary it only represents Orbán, Fidesz and the conservative worldview.

But the damage has already been done, there's no going back. The EU is waaaay too late to correct their mistakes. Orbán is here to stay for a very long time and I can't even say that we are undemocratic. Hungarian people have decided that they want to live under Orbán, they like his way of thinking, his worldview, his narratives about decaying Western world. This is where we are now, this is what Hungarian society can reach on their current level of development and the EU can't do anything about it other than hope that Hungary will choose a different path once Orbán is gone after a couple of more decades.

    • whatever you heard is just speculation. no one knows at the moment, probably even the orange himself.   and Iranian athletes failed to get visa so many times before. even female athletes. there is no pattern, it's just too random.    and yes Iran has a system of compulsory military service for men, and there is 50% chance for anybody to be randomly drafted by IRGC affiliated organizations. that's the case for Taremi and few others in the current team.
    • Would you believe the NCAA Indoor season has already started?
    • Some changes that I've noticed:   3x3 Basketball: With the expanded 12 team field, one extra team per gender qualifies through world rankings, one extra team qualifies through the universality driven tournament and there's now an Olympic Qualifier series to award the final quotas.   Beach Volleyball: Continental qualifiers have have priority over the World championship and World Rankings quotas and there's now Olympic Qualifier Series quotas.   Canoe Sprint: World ranking system now in place and will be used instead of awarding world championship quotas. Road Cycling: 2 nations ranking quotas per gender moved to universality.   Track Cycling: Sprint and Keirin ranking list is now combined and will award 14 quotas per gender. Previously it was 7+7. Team pursuit down to 8 quotas from 10. 2 of the quotas have been moved to madison (one additional team) and 6 to the omnium.   Fencing: Can get a Continental quota of you finished in the top 24 of the rankings. It was previously top 16.    Hockey: 2 pro league quotas replace two qualification tournament quotas.   Judo: 5 less universality places and 4 more Continental places. For men, there's two more spots for Asia, one less for Oceania and 1 more for the Americas. For the women, there's one more spot for Europe, one less for Oceania and two more for Asia.   Modern Pentathlon: Less quotas awarded through world rankings as a result of quota cuts.   Open Water Swimming: Introduction of world ranking qualifier.   Sailing: In general, seems to be more quotas awarded at the last chance regatta and less quotas at the World Championships   Shooting: One less quota handed out at each World Championship and the return on World Cup qualifiers.   Swimming: Olympic qualification and consideration times renamed to A and B standard. B standard is now 1% slower than the A standard compared to 0.5% in 2024. Stroke 50s have their own direct qualification events and have minimum time standards instead of A and B standards. Qualification times have been nuked again. B standard selection process has also changed.   Volleyball: New revised format. Continental championships first, then world championships followed by world rankings. In 2024, it was 3 qualification tournaments and then world rankings. Only 3 countries per gender will qualify by world rankings now compared to 5 in 2024
    • For Italy, the match against Japan and likely the final match against Estonia will be a safe/relegation game, but I'm think that whether the match against Estonia will be decisive on anything, if we have 0 points after 4 matches. We're currently the worst team here – we have 0 points and are taking significantly fewer shots than our opponents in each match. Japan and Estonia are looking better for now and unfortunately, without significant improvement play starting tomorrow, we'll likely be relegated to the fourth division. With the absence of Russia and Belarus, this will be a shame, even for the weaker 2006/2007 age generation. Especially, since we are playing this tournament at home. For anyone could have competed with a good shape, except perhaps Hungary, who are currently the best team in the tournament.
    • They shouldn't promise additional spots to countries that qualify 3 athletes in each distance, because then taking those spots away isn't fair. For example, in Italy, Previtali won the 500m QO for country but he would likely have to stay at home because the staff probably would have chosen Casinelli for the relay (Casinelli won't be competing individually at all). I don't know what the situation is in Canada with the fifth-place skater? Will this person only compete in the relay, or will he also be a reserve there?
    • That's too bad. Athletes who finish in the top 32 (or 36 for the 1590m) should be the priority over the 5th athlete from a relay country.   So Croatia loses their 2nd women's quota, Hong Kong loses their only women's quota and Poland loses their 3rd women's quota.   This means that Great Britain, Slovakia and Ukraine should fill up the rest of the 1500m field since they are the highest placed reserves that doesn't require an additional quota.
    • Philip Rivers' possible return to NFL while being a semifinalist for the Hall of Fame certainly wasn't on my bingo card. But well. So far he's only on the practice squad
