Venues are expensive, it is what it is. They made the perfect sized stadium for these Worlds with temporary seats in the upper level and it still cost a fortune.

But love this stadium, without tickets near Hammer throw I could watch  Hammer throw. Love Hungary

Pretty emphatic victory for the Good Virgin Islands :IVB over the Evil Virgin Islands :ISV in the 400m hurdles there.

Let’s play a round of women’s basketball then :bones:

Kerley just said on US TV that s*it happens and he f*cked up but he's healthy and life goes on.

NBC really did a full-on inquisition with that interview though. I mean…making the guy re-watch the race on a monitor and narrate where it went wrong seems like a step too far to me. Athletes are still people as much as pundits/fans want them to be robots.

Bottom line, it isn’t how I conduct interviews.

Maybe try writing something on twitter? Over here it worked during Tokyo OG or Eugene WCh that our lead commentator apologized on air for his mistakes after several twitter users mocked his errors

Never heard of it :p

Women's long jump: Pretty weak behind Spanovic. Insane that she peaks at such an old age. Mihambo shouldn't lose too much sleep over this. Iapichino was a massive letdown. Luzolo for sure had the chance to finish top 6, but sadly she couldn't even replicate her performance from prelims.

Women's heptathlon: Pretty low level for bronze. Right now Thiam, KJT and Hall look like the clear favorites for the medals next year, but maybe someone else can step up and get to 6700-6800 points. Weißenberg would have won bronze with 6.40 m in the long jump.

Men's hammer throw: Insane that Katzenberg improved by 12 m in 2 years ... i wish Germany would some day find an athlete with such a rate of improvement.

Heike Drechsler was winning gold medals at 36 so it's not that insane - especially that Vuleta still has Paris OG on her mind.

Germany had their golden era in the throwing field events - but the overall German athletics has regressed badly once the last athletes who remember the 1990s training programmes retired.

    • no idea. I just repeated what I read  but I won't be surprised if they make a mistake like this. the officials here are usually terrible in reading the rules. if I remember correctly they sent an Ice hockey team to the Games back in 2017 but most of the players were ineligible to play per IIHF rules and they played some friendlies instead    btw there is a federation, but not an ISU member. Ice Skating (which has a very very limited activity here) was a part of Skating (roller sports) federation but now moved to Skiing federation which officially changed its name to Skiing and Winter Sports Federation.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
