Gracenote updated their projection. Although the things are still very unrealistic, they erased some players not competing in this olympic.

Haven't they seen the Badminton draw. They predict Akane Yamaguchi to win gold and An Se Young to win silver, but they are expected to meet each other in the quarters

I'd give them a pass on that. If they can't figure out who is attending then they definitely aren't looking at the draws.

Today's L'Equipe says 3-3-5---11 for Poland. We'll see.

G - W team epee (fencing), Świątek (tennis, W singles), Mirosław (sport climbing, W speed)

S - Nowicki (athletics, M hammer), M team (volleyball), M quadruple sculls (rowing)

B - Kaczmarek (athletics, W 400), W K2 500 (canoe sprint), W K4 500 (canoe sprint), Rudyk (cycling track, M sprint), Tarnowski (sailing, M iQFoil)

Interesting predictions overall. But not accurate as well, e.g. they forgot there are TWO bronze medals in each wrestling event...

The Hungarian national sportsnewspaper is far more hopeful for :HUN than I am or L'Equipe.

My prediction: 5 gold and 16 total medals.

L'Equipe's prediction: 5 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze

Hungarian national sportnewspaper: 8 gold, 8 silver, 9 bronze

Gold medalists:

  • Hungarian men's epee team, Fencing
  • Csipes / Gazsó, women's K2 500m, Canoe Sprint
  • Mária Érdi, women's ILCA6, Sailing
  • Bálint Kopasz, men's K1 1000m, Canoe Sprint
  • Hubert Kós, men's 200m backstroke, Swimming
  • Dávid Losonczi, men's 87kg GR, Wrestling
  • Omar Gergely Salim, men's 58kg, Taekwondo

Silver medalists:

  • Dávid Betlehem, men's 10km open water, Swimming
  • Csaba Böhm, men's individual, Modern Pentathlon
  • Hungarian men's water polo team, Water Polo
  • Michelle Gulyás, women's individual, Modern Pentathlon
  • Bence Halász, men's hammer throw, Athletics
  • Nádas / Tótka, men's K2 500m, Canoe Sprint
  • István Péni, men's 50m rifle 3 pos, Shooting
  • Hunharian women's K4 boat, Canoe Sprint

Bronze medalists:

  • Hungarian women's sabre team, Fencing

This is very close to a best case scenario for Hungary. But for some reason they aren't predicting any medals for Milák.

It’s hard to see how Walsh will handle the pressure, but given that she’s produced the two fastest times in history last month by a couple of tenths, don’t think Yufei has a gold medal chance here. Same for the men’s 4x100m medley relay, the gap between them and US is too much ;)

Zhang Yufei, Qin Haiyang, Chen Jun'er and Wang Changhao are in the same group. They are not on their best status during Olympic trials as they didn't change their training schedule to adapt the Trials. It's reported that it was the reason why they underperform on trials. From recent interview, they are on better status right now so I still have confidence on them. Still I admit that Walsh and USA are favorites on these two events, while China is challenger.
