I will be delighted if that prediction comes true for :IND

9 medals with 3 Golds :hyper: Yesss, Please.

I think that's being highly optimistic. The prediction is of 3 golds with one being Sandeep Singh in 10m Air rifle which is highly unlikely (although I hope it comes true 🤞). A lot of medals have been predicted in shooting like last time, but historically we have underachieved massively at the Olympics in the sport. So my estimation is of 5-6 medals with 1-2 golds (Neeraj, Nikhat and Sat-Chi being the most probable ones to fetch gold).

Can you mention the medallists for India

I checked the simulations posted on Twitter. The following medalists have been predicted:

1. Mixed 10m Air Rifle Bronze

2. Mehuli Ghosh (Women's 10m Air Rifle) Bronze

3. Women's Doubles (Badminton) Bronze

4. Mirabai Chanu (Weightlifting) Silver

5. Neeraj Chopra (Javelin throw) Gold

6. Deepak Bhoria (Boxing) Bronze

7. Nikhat Zareen (Boxing) Silver

8. Antim Panghal (Wrestling) Bronze

However, Mehuli Ghosh isn't a part of India's shooting contingent for the Olympics and neither is Deepak Bhoria a part of the boxing contingent. Also, the simulation predicts a bronze in women's doubles in badminton, whereas our men's doubles team has a much greater realistic chance of obtaining a medal.

Gold for Tentoglu (long jump)

Silver for Theodora Gkhontura (epee)

Bronze for Georgios Kougiomtsidis (wrestling, 74)

Anna Koraki (pistol, 10 meters), skeet mix, Emmanouela Katzouraki (skeet) and Eleftherios Petrounias (parallel bars)

What do you think?

Thank you for the 7 medals! Just a small correction, Gkountoura is sabre not epee, and Petrounias is rings not parallel bars.

Also I am surprised that between you, Gracenote, and the Italian site, no one picked us to win a medal in men's water polo even though we won medals at the 2021 Olympics, 2022 World Championships, and 2023 World Championships...

I think 3 shooting medals is a bit ambitious because of how surprising the sport can be, also I think tennis we have a strong chance (Tsitsipas is very good on clay, almost never loses before QF in a clay tournament, actually happened only once in the last two years, and also there is the mixed doubles event).

I know we don't have any medal favourites in rowing or swimming but I can see us winning one medal in each as we have many people who are prob top 4-8 or so in people's predictions but not top 3, and Teltsidou (judo women's 70kg) I think has a 50/50 chance to win a medal.

Also same for Emmanouil Karalis (men's pole vault) and the women's water polo team, I think they are probably 4th or 5th in most people's predictions.

I was trying to find out what were the 'official' medals/placing target of likely top ranked countries set by sports officials. Here they are, feel free to add any.

:FRA "Top 5 of the medals table"

:ITA "Better than in Tokyo"

:ESP "Better than in Barcelona" (> 22 medals)

:AUS "We don't do that kind of thing, piss off mate"

:NZL "Between 13 and 18 medals"

:HUN "Between 15 and 25 medals"

:KOR "5 gold medals at least"

:JPN "55 medals, including 20 golds"

:BRA "Better than in Tokyo" (> 21 medals, >7 golds)

:GER "Keep our Top 9 from Tokyo"

:NED "Top 10 of the medals table"

:BEL "Better than in Tokyo" (>7 medals)

:GBR "Top 5 of the medals table, between 50-70 medals"

:KEN "6 gold medals at least" (athletics only)

:SUI "As good as Tokyo" (≥ 13 medals)

PS : I found nothing for :CAN:USA, :JAM or :POL
