They really should start with the Parade of Nations this time, that way athletes can enjoy the show and provide some much needed atmosphere inside the venue.

I only know Macron, other states will send some representatives other than heads of state. China will send vice premier.

Valentina Vezzali, member of Italian government , will be in Tokyo.

A month ago there were reports we will use our quota for heads of state to accomodate extra support staff. Then there was cabinet reshuffle so I don't know what will happen now maybe few ministers. 

 

Nonetheless we have a current parliament member - 6 time world champion , Mary Kom, also our female flagbearer at opening ceremony.

New text for the Olympic Oath’s: 

Quote

“We promise to take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules and in the spirit of fair play, inclusion and equality. Together we stand in solidarity and commit ourselves to sport without doping, without cheating, without any form of discrimination. We do this for the honour of our teams, in respect for the Fundamental Principles of Olympism, and to make the world a better place through sport.”

According to the IOC Press Release, each Oath will now be taken by both and male and female representative as well.

      Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

      Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
