  21. TAISC 2024 - Opening Ceremony TEATRO ALLA SCALA March 22nd, 2024 h. 17:00 GMT (18:00 Local Time) Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2024 ----------------------------------- Opening Ceremony ----------------------------------- Special Guest: La Rappresentante di Lista (Veronica Lucchesi & Dario Mangiaracina) TAISC 2023 Winner ----------------------------------- Participant Nations Parade Competitors' Oath Follow Live the Grand Final * Saturday 23rd March * 9:30 GMT Teatro alla Scala The Teatro alla Scala was founded, under the auspices of the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, to replace the Royal Ducal Theatre, which was destroyed by fire on February 1776 and had until then been the home of opera in Milan. The cost of building the new theatre was borne by the owners of the boxes at the Ducal, in exchange for possession of the land on which stood the church of Santa Maria alla Scala (hence the name) and for renewed ownership of their boxes. Designed by neoclassical architect Giuseppe Piermarini, La Scala opened on 3 August 1778 with Antonio Salieri's opera L'Europa riconosciuta. The theatre is regarded as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres globally. The theater complex is home to the La Scala Theatre Chorus, La Scala Theatre Ballet, La Scala Theatre Orchestra, and the Filarmonica della Scala orchestra and is located in the square of the same name, next to the Casino Ricordi, home to the Scala Theater Museum. The original structure was renovated in 1907 when it was given its current layout. In 1943, during World War II, La Scala was severely damaged by bombing. It was rebuilt and reopened on 11 May 1946. The theatre underwent a major renovation from early 2002 to late 2004. The Milan City Council approved the project by the architect Mario Botta for the restoration. The opera house re-opened on 7 December 2004 with a production, conducted by Riccardo Muti, of Salieri's Europa riconosciuta, the the same opera performed at La Scala's inauguration in 1778

These are Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, Via Balbi, Via Cairoli. The Palazzi dei Rolli (Italian for "Palaces of the Lists") are a group of palaces, most of which also date from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, which were associated to a particular system of ‘public lodging’ in private residences, whereby notable guests on State visit to the Republic were hosted in one of these palaces on behalf of the State.
