  1. Looks like we're back to collective punishment in sports.
  2. I like this sport but making it a combined makes no sense. Should have been lead and speed but maybe it would have been too much, considering the 4 skateboarding and 8 karate events.
  3. Because you don't like China winning it? They show the most amazing performances, similarly to the US teams in basketball. Honestly, it's not surprising to me when I see non-Asians refering to table tennis as 'ping pong'. I'd like baseball/softball to stay for longer, not just for Tokyo.
  4. Yeah, I understand but this is how I saw the thread too, a playground for personal preferences. Phelps is right, in the end the IOC couldn't care less about our opinions or anybody else's. Karate and baseball/softball are certainly popular enough to vindicate their inclusion but the others were a bit surprising for me, especially skateboarding. I wonder what squash will have to go to get included. And of course football had the best attendance, we're talking about Brazil and football after all. One thing I forgot to mention in my listing before was badminton returning to classic KO rounds like in tennis and table tennis. I fail to see the point of group stages in this sport.
  5. Well, what would you suggest then? Leave the programme as it is?
  6. Ah, yes it's interesting, global and I like it.
  7. Yes, precision is also good. Chances for Cambodia and Madagascar, and of course France.
  8. Haha, well your swimmers didn't spare one gold to Laszlo Cseh either (although this year Schooling beat everyone in 100m Butterfly).
  9. So should the rest catch up in swimming since it's one of the core sports to begin with. Congrats though, amazing overall performance once again.
  10. I'm all about more events so I'm ready for people disagreeing with my "utopic" proposals. Archery: mixed team [+1] Athletics: 4x800m or 4x1500m relay [+2] Canoeing (Sprint): two women's C events and men's/women's K-1 5000m [+4] Canoeing (Slalom): men's C-2 stays, 2 out of 3 team events (women's K-1, men's K-1, men's C-1) [+2] Cycling (Track): keirin goes in exchange for 500m/1000m time trials and men's madison [-2 +3] Equestrian: out with dressage [-2] Fencing: full programme with all teams [+2] Football: I like LDOG's proposal of men's futsal and women's football [+-0] Gymnastics (Trampoline): synchronised events [+2] Modern Pentathlon: mixed team relay [+1] Shooting: a men's 300m rifle event and 10m running target for both (also, what ever happened to women's double trap?): [+3] Swimming: mixed 4x100m relay [+1] Table Tennis: doubles instead of team [+-0] Taekwondo: at least one more category for both [+2] Triathlon: mixed team [+1] New sports not being introduced for Tokyo: Air Sports: whatever Bearas would suggest [+2] Boules: pétanque singles [2] Inline Speed Skating: various distances, road only (and I don't care about speed skating already being at the Winter Games) [+6/8] Orienteering: middle, sprint relay [+4] Squash: singles [+2] Wushu: taolu only, I know some would really hate this sport at the OG [+6/8]
  11. Says you from the country always winning the medal table thanks to swimming.
  12. Yep, most certainly. Shooting was superb.
  13. Ah okay. Well, I think Italy can profit from karate next time, depending on which category becomes Olympic (Luigi Busà, Sara Cardin, ..). Thanks to you as well, it was a total surprise. I didn't expect that many golds and China to do that bad for their standards.
  14. So Italy finishes with 28 medals. If I remember correctly, your goal was 30 for London, right? You came close this time again, even if some Italians didn't have faith in their team. With a better performance in fencing, it would have been possible. Maybe in Tokyo.
  15. Team GB medals after Day 16 Rank Gold Silver Bronze Total 2 27 23 17 67 Joe Joyce wins the 67th and final medal for Team GB, a silver. Great Britain won medals in 19 different sports and at least one gold medal comes from 15 different sports. More than any other country so in that regard, GB is the best. 1. Great Britain - golds in 15 sports 2. United States - golds in 13 sports 3. China - golds in 10 sports 4. Germany - golds in 9 sports 4. Russia - golds in 9 sports 1. United States - medals in 22 sports 2. China - medals in 19 sports 2. Germany - medals in 19 sports 2. Great Britain - medals in 19 sports 5. Russia - medals in 17 sports
  16. Okay, I've seen the match now. That's a way to waste a medal.
  17. Typical, when I'm away something of interest happens.
  18. I have absolutely no idea why they wouldn't send the silver medalist from 2015 instead.
  19. After everything you've said about so many nations here I want to thank you for making these two weeks entertaining. I don't know why you're so upset all the time. We've seen amazing performances in Rio (team eventing, men's eight rowing, field hockey, handball, team sprints in track cycling, women's javelin throw...). Excuse me now, I'm going to talk to my uncle now about what amazing performances British and international grandpas can achieve. Rock Lee approves.

  21. Team GB medals after Day 15 Rank Gold Silver Bronze Total 2 27 22 17 66 Farah and Adams maintained their Olympic titles from London, Liam Heath won the K-1 200m and we also got some bronzes from Vicky Holland, Bianca Walkden and the women's 4x400 relay. With that, the total of London 2012 has been surpassed, with one more secure medal to come today. Great job for the best British team ever indeed. I've never expected second place ahead of China!
  22. Chen was amazing.
  23. Petriashvili made it quick and Akgül might be doing the same as last year.
  24. Fair enough. btw, what a great finish for Mexico on medals today.
  25. I've read that too but women's freestyle hardly isn't popular enough yet and men's greco-roman has issues too.
