  1. Nagase.
  2. So because of this rowing QF match-up holding the games in Brazil was a bad idea? I agree on the venue but certainly not on Brazil. Also, other nations catch up, in rowing too, wouldn't you say?
  3. Day 4 Finals Canoeing (Slalom) - Men's C-1 David Florence He and the others were pretty confident to skip the second qualification race, with the exception of Clarke in K-1 who needed that second run, so today is the day of truth. He will have to go through the semis first before the final. If he does what he did in the qualification, we can hope for a medal. Diving - Women's Synchronised 10m Platform Tonia Couch Lois Toulson Favourites are others, so I'll stick with what I said yesterday, 4th-5th would be good. Equestrian - Individual Eventing William Fox-Pitt Pippa Funnell Kitty King Gemma Tattersall After Fox-Pitt blew it in the cross country, no chance. Equestrian - Team Eventing William Fox-Pitt Pippa Funnell Kitty King Gemma Tattersall Again, forget it. Note: I'm no expert in this sport, I don't even watch it. I go by distances in current standings. Fencing - Men's Individual Épée no British participation Gymnastics (Artistic) - Women's Team All-Around Becky Downie Ellie Downie Claudia Fragapane Ruby Harrold Amy Tinkler Nominally, this one should be between , , and but they can be 4th again like in the qualification so if any of those big three makes a huge mistake, they might sneak in. Not likely though, confirming 4th would be good. Judo - Women's -63kg Alice Schlesinger Since competing for GB I don't think she's won something big internationally. In her draw she will most likely face Bak , van Emden and Agbegnenou . I see the French as the favourite in her draw but she might very well struggle against van Emden. She should at least beat Bak. Judo - Men's -81kg no British participation Shooting - Women's 25m Pistol no British participation Swimming - Women's 200m Freestyle no British participation Swimming - Women's 200m Individual Medley Siobhan-Marie O'Connor Her time in the semis was superb. Hosszu will probably be too strong for the rest again but O'Connor has a chance for silver though. Gotta watch Ye and Coutts . Swimming - Men's 200m Butterfly no British participation Swimming - Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay James Guy Cameron Kurle Ieuan Lloyd Stephen Milne Robbie Renwick Duncan Scott Daniel Wallace Definitely a medal contender and the main competitor against the USA, if we go according to qualfying times. Good chance and Guy should finally grasp it. Weightlifting - Women's -63kg no British participation Weightlifting - Men's -69kg no British participation optimistic shot on medals 3 reasonable shot on medals 2
  4. Team GB medals after Day 3 Rank Gold Silver Bronze Total 10 1 1 2 4 Instead of the women's rugby sevens team and James Guy it was the duo Daley/Goodfellow and Edward Ling winning the bronzes. The optimistic guess was definitely possible. At least the minimum of expectations has been satisfied but I'm really disappointed with James Guy.
  5. I would have had medal-winning performances wrong though. I was more certain Guy would win a medal rather than Daley/Goodfellow, so yes, others have to step in and make up for other losses. GB usually starts slow but I doubt something like 6 golds in one day like that saturday in London will happen again. We need those solid performances in track cycling, rowing and sailing for 4th place again but most importantly, as many medals as possible or funding will be cut. So far the £347 million haven't been worth it but we will see in the end. The main goal will be unachievable with recent chokes already, some boxers are out already too, Murray brothers in doubles, men's field hockey won't even qualify for the QF etc. Litchfield's 4th place is a good thing actually, I never expected him to finish 4th. He did the best he could. The women's rugby sevens team created hopes thanks to the group stage win over Canada but in the end, they were the better team to begin with. A fencing medal would have done good for the future. So far, it's all about men's foil and an individual medal was probably "easier" to achieve than the team medal, in my opinion.
  6. Another choke, this time by Guy. Also disappointed with the Australians, I can understand Syd's frustration here. Backstroke was supposed to be one of their success stories this time. Oh well. Sadly, I felt the 100m breast was going to be anticlimactic. , , all off the podium.
  7. Another unexpected bronze for GB, this time thanks to Daley and Goodfellow. Big score for Chen/Lin.
  8. A bit strange, Brunet should have won but how many times have I said "should have".
  9. Thanks and for Slovakia it's gonna be tomorrow too then.
  10. Good bronze for Ling and certainly not expected.
  11. Too bad for India.
  12. What happened to Pironkova?
  13. Day 3 Finals Diving - Men's Synchronised 10m Platform Tom Daley Daniel Goodfellow I don't see them on the podium, there are other strong duos. 4th-5th would be good. Fencing - Women's Individual Sabre no British participation Gymnastics (Artistic) - Men's Team All-Around Brinn Bevan Louis Smith Kristian Thomas Max Whitlock Nile Wilson Things have to go perfect for a medal although they are not chanceless. Judo - Women's -57kg Nekoda Smythe-Davis Filzmoser , Pavia and Matsumoto in her draw so no chance. Judo - Men's -73kg no British participation Rugby Sevens - Women's Tournament National Team Very strong field, everything is possible from final to 4th. I'm hoping for a medal here after they beat Canada in the group stage. Shooting - Men's 10m Air Rifle no British participation Shooting - Men's Trap Edward Ling Currently in 2nd position but it's a long way to go. He should make it into the final if he keeps calm but you can't predict shooting. Swimming - Women's 100m Breaststroke no British participation Swimming - Women's 100m Backstroke no British participation Swimming - Men's 200m Freestyle James Guy Hasn't been impressive so far so he might end up without medal. On paper he should have a chance for gold even but I think silver would be a good result. Swimming - Men's 100m Backstroke no British participation Weightlifting - Women's -58kg no British participation Weightlifting - Men's -62kg no British participation optimistic shot on medals 4 reasonable shot on medals 2
  14. Team GB medals after Day 2 Rank Gold Silver Bronze Total 8 1 1 0 2 Peaty and Carlin relieved the team by winning the first two medals. Carlin was a bit of a surprise she could clock 2nd behind Ledecky while Peaty stunned us again with another world record in the final. Well done! Richard Kruse came close to a medal and finished 4th in individual foil.
  15. Thank you for confirming this.
  16. Not another judo disappointment for Japan after London, please. Congrats to Italy though, not long ago I remember somebody saying Italian judo was in ruins.
  17. So would you say this win is worth a moving Kim?
  18. Oh, look what we have here. The anticlimactic wait for GB to finish 4th.
  19. In my opinion she was robbed, but that's just me I guess. I don't like this result or outcome, sorry.
  20. I don't see what's wrong with Li's first attempt. She should have won.
  21. Koha and her team.
  22. Day 2 Finals Archery - Women's Team no British participation Cycling - Women's Road Race Elizabeth Armitstead Nikki Harris Emma Pooley Yesterday was a good example for an (almost) unpredictable race so no prognosis here as chances are existing though. Diving - Women's Synchronised 3m Springboard Alicia Blagg Rebecca Gallantree 4th or 5th probably. Fencing - Men's Individual Foil James Davis Laurence Halsted Richard Kruse One of two long shot medal events for British fencing. Davis has the best chance in my opinion but he will have to beat first, then in R16, in the QF and in the semis it could be Ota . Judo - Women's -52kg no British participation Judo - Men's -66kg Colin Oates Le Blouch is difficult for me to estimate but if he makes it, he will have difficult draws ahead of him: most likely An in R16 and Sobirov in the QF. No medal contender, could exit early. Shooting - Women's 10m Air Pistol no British participation Shooting - Women's Trap no British participation Swimming - Women's 100m Butterfly no British participation Swimming - Women's 400m Freestyle Jazmin Carlin Should swim into the final and aim for 5th-6th position. Swimming - Men's 100m Breaststroke Adam Peaty Not only GB's first real medal contender but also for gold. In fact, anything else now would be a huge disappointment. Swimming - Men's 4x100m Freestyle Relay no British participation Weightlifting - Women's -53kg no British participation Weightlifting - Men's -56kg no British participation optimistic shot on medals 2 reasonable shot on medals 1
