  1. - "A woman dunking", doesn't that happen like maybe once a year? - "Winning 23 Grand Slams", yeah that might also say something about the depth of the competition.. - "When we're too good, there's 'something wrong with us'" and then showing Semenya, about who one may have legitimate concerns about her situation (and no, saying that is not 'anti-women' ) - "When we show emotion, we're called dramatic", you mean like when Youzhny bashed in his own head with his tennis racket? Etc, meh Nike.
  2. I guess she goes without federation help then, because Australia already said months ago they wouldn't send a team because of the whole state doping affair (I wonder if other countries are doing the same, even the likes of the US are present).
  3. Watched Alita: Battle Angel in the cinema, now I want motorball to be Olympic
  4. Didn't know, that sucks so bad. I see now that in 2017 five qualifiers didn't start, that suuuuuucks
  5. What I meant is that the only timing visible in the picture is the on-screen graphic of the time. Drawing conclusions would be much more valid if for example on the arch over the finish line there's an official clock or something.
  6. Too bad the only timing visible in these pictures is the on screen graphics, so it's rather hard to draw any conclusions from this.
  7. Wow, 6:45.73 for Esmee Visser in a training race in Calgary, that's the 5th fastest time in history
  8. Which is why I'm saying Finland is slowly getting back. They were entirely invisible for a while, but in recent months they're starting to be a bit more visible again. Come on, Antti Aalto is even 20th in the World Cup standings. Sure, for Finland's history it's not much, but since Koivuranta (19th in 2014, 18th in 2012) was the last one in the top-20 since Hautamäki finishing 8th in 2011, it's definitely a step forward compared to the last few years. They even have four guys scoring World Cup points this season, which didn't happen in the previous three years. So no, they are lightyears away from where they once were, but yeah, they are improving compared to the last 2-3 years.
  9. Jaqueline Mourão won't compete in the 10km classic, despite finishing 2nd in the qualifying race. This was apparently perfectly planned, she's in fact already back in Brazil. Nicely done, taking away a place from teenage Argentinian Catalina Gonzalez, who finished 11th and so didn't qualify, despite Brazil already knowing Mourão wouldn't compete in the 10k even if she qualified. Ugh.
  10. Two-time reigning champion and second placed Jacqueline Lölling skipped the two races in Calgary and so her chance at a third consecutive title, due to family reasons
  11. And they are (slowly) coming back, ski jumping is going up in terms of quality.
  12. No, it was a total shock. Much like Johaug winning the skiathlon, nobody saw it coming. Insane.
  13. But Mongolia was/is not competing in the OECH
  14. Kyrgyzstan, come on. Brazil wouldn't have finished last
  15. And Ammann's comment "I just realized he started jumping because of me when he was young, and I felt a bit guilty when he didn't really make that next step...and now he does this!"
  16. Always a big shame when athletes don't have their equipment in order
