  1. Haga in trouble. Norway stayed in the medal fight longer than was to be expected..
  2. Norway is doing better than expected, but Sweden....damn. Even bigger surprise than Germany, but in the wrong way
  3. Watched the replay: Weng moved and touched Eiduka's skis. So technically Eiduka did fall first, but because Weng pushed her skis from under her.
  4. Sauerbrey is impressive We were right in giving her the easier nickname of 'Destroying German' during the OPA Cup races
  5. Right. It'd be cool if they also actually use this rule in regular relays, since there normally bad luck is simply that: bad luck and you're out. Unless someone actually commits a penalty, unlike this here.
  6. This whole thing of women having significantly shorter races and events in so many sports is nonsense anyway. Deal with that first before coming up with all kinds of mixed events.
  7. Latvia changed their original team and now Baiba is in
  8. Not if it's really just nothing but bad luck without any intent anywhere whatsoever Can't say judges have been favouring China this event (like they generally and somewhat surprisingly don't really favour home nations in shorttrack), but this one was...fishy, to say the least.
  9. I think a majority of people were simply working and either heard it on the radio thinking 'oh nice' or will see it tonight on the news But of course I'm free from work Cool to see two medals for the team at once (Desmet trains with the Dutch team, which is why she too had a panther-skin heart on her helmet in honour of the late Lara van Ruijven)
  10. Is it though? Sure, she is their best classic skier, but her freestyle is probably better than that of the other two, so overall it'd be smarter to let Niskanen do freestyle..
  11. Mostly with the graphics She missed one.
  12. What a race though And to think 'they' want to kill this event, whereas not a single event in speed skating (no, not even mass start) has this many ups and downs as a good 10k has.
  13. Right, that seems better from Roest.
  14. Roest doesn't seem good at all.
  15. Niskanen on his way to really place himself among the all-time greats with this
  16. If Canada was competitive, you would have to watch it, despite not liking it, or what? I mean, the Netherlands might have been super competitive in dressage at one point, I just don't get it and so why would I watch
  17. Not sure if this works outside of the Netherlands: https://nos.nl/peking2022/artikel/2416465-van-der-poel-spreekt-schande-van-nederlandse-ijslobby-dit-is-corruptie-een-gruweldaad Basically there was a piece written in a rather poor wording, which according to Van der Poel said the Dutch are influencing the ice. When in reality, they are (as always) measuring everything they can measure to improve their results (nothing different than measuring the snow in skiing), and sharing some of that data with the 'ijsmeester' ('ice master'? 'head of ice'?), Canadian Mark Messer, when asked for it. Mind you, Mark Messer is a super experienced Canadian, arguably the best in this kind of thing, it's not like a couple of Dutchies are going to actually influence what he thinks is best. It's all a bit unfortunate, but corruption or 'biggest scandal in the sport' is hugely, but really hugely overreacting.
  18. Van der Poel 12:40 Bergsma 12:45 Bloemen 12:48
  19. Yeah....but that's quite something you're talking about. They see every sport as nothing but the little fact sheet they are presented with by their employer They're kind of like me watching figure skating: I just quickly check Wikipedia to see who won last time and will base my opinions and expectations on that
