  1. That's what I thought, but aren't there more head-to-head sports than only combat sports?
  2. Followed by, the moment Tokyo actually happened, Beijing being cancelled due to COVID
  3. Except that the UK isn't boycotting It would obviously be a bit of a serious deal if they do (and if other countries follow), simply because they're one of the top-10 countries in world sports, but....they're not boycotting....that's just not going to happen, it's hard to find words on how to make that even clearer
  4. No, one person does, because he needs a reason for every single Olympics to fail in some way, preferably by being cancelled, and for Paris this is the most obvious to have under his Ctrl + V Oh well, everyone is entitled to their fun I suppose
  5. Why specifically in combat sports, and not in other sports?
  6. Good luck in finding that wording, here is the letter ! https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/statement-on-russias-war-on-ukraine-and-international-sport/statement-on-russias-war-on-ukraine-and-international-sport
  7. We should have this thread but only for people who might (even strongly) disagree with each other, whereas people who are actually and specifically doing their best to insult for example users on this forum stay in their little playground
  8. Alright. Which reminds me, almost 2024, meaning the vacation system for next year will open up at work, so it's almost time to register three weeks of Olympics vacation Which is significantly more likely to happen than a (mass) boycott, by the way Still super curious what your "Cortina 2026 will fail/be cancelled" pitch is going to be.
  9. Without trying to be shot or something, so treading very carefully: I can't say I am entirely unhappy with certain Russian and Belarussian athletes being allowed to compete in Paris under a neutral flag and when fulfilling certain individual criteria. The entire situation is a massive hot mess and it is going to be utterly impossible to agree on which one solution is the best thing, but this one seems at the very least slightly acceptable (and better than both excluding every single Russian and Belarussian athlete no matter what or letting every single one in).
  10. No, it isn't. I'm curious what your Ctrl + V thing is going to be for Cortina 2026 by the way
  11. Wow, I've seen weird streaming things, but paying 30 euro (or even 7 euro per match) for one of the more obscure sports....they really, really overestimate how big their sport is As if speed skating would suddenly go behind a big paywall. That's not going to create income, it'll just make it fade into obscurity
  12. Care to elaborate?
  13. Ah, sprint. Still the single most useless of all additions to winter sports Like adding the 400m flying lap in speed skating, where the race is 500m but only 100m to the finish counts.
  14. Right, immediately after my previous comment and enthousiasm I read this, oops Don't think I had ever heard the song, name or name of the singer though, so I'm still glad I got to learn it thanks to TISC
  15. What the hell, anyone here who happened to watch the ski jumping World Cup in Lillehammer and heard the stadium speakers playing......Italy's 2023 TOISC entry (a 1983 song!)?
  16. Thanks for strengthening my point.
  17. Not gonna happen though, football will always stay behind on other sports. Just look at VAR: it's taken absolutely ages to simply implement it, and now we're a few years later and they still didn't manage to implement it in a way that doesn't disrupt the entire game because of this weird thing with first checking if VAR will be used, then VAR looking at it and then if 'needed' letting the referee look at it anyway. Still waiting for the first good referee in football: when play stops, he adds those seconds as injury time at the end. You need 15 seconds to take a goal kick? Alright, that's 15 seconds added in the end. Again, I know it's not gonna happen It is already a good start that since a year or so they're finally adding some more minutes at the end instead of always that bullshit 3-5 minutes.
  18. Which means the other three teams absolutely want to draw France in the semi's, since in that case you either get the ticket or get a second chance for the ticket
  19. Hahahaha Even the easy 6-0 coincidentally right after the Dutch 3-0 wasn't enough, justice Although to be fair to Scotland, as long as the margin was in England's favour, they did put up quite a nice fight every now and then.
  20. Oh come on. I know many people would like to think this is just a matter of quality, but if the quality gap is this big, the Scottish women's football team shouldn't be playing internationally....this is really a pathetic showing. Every single attempt the English make just leads to...well, sometimes a miss, but definitely not actual resistance. If this is Scotland's quality, they should be under League C.
  21. Yes, I've been watching for a while now and Scotland is basically not even really trying. They drop every ball they can right in English feet, they're missing every chance in defense and so on. Either they are truly worse than the local under-11 boys team in my small town, or they're giving it away, it's one or the other. They only had a few small attacks when it was too obvious for a while.
  22. Yeah that's not gonna happen
  23. Scotland isn't even hiding that they're giving it away, most of the time they're barely even trying by the looks of it
  24. Yep, 95,65% chance I heard. Which is why Iceland is actually empty nowadays, everyone killed each other because Sigurður and Gudrún weren't married yet. Oh well.
