  1. Updated as of February 24th, 2020...
  2. by the way, tournaments cancelled or not, South Korea are actually already mathematically qualified in any case, not only "virtually"... and if Padua's tournament is not somehow replaced, also Hungary are already mathematically in...

  4. no, idea... I'd rather wait for an official statement from FIE...hoping that they decide quickly what they want to do... If I were them, I'd simply add the next event to the original OQP...it's only a question of going a couple of weeks outside the original schedule and it wouldn't affect in any form the Olympic preparation of the teams involved, meanwhile cutting the number of useful tournaments could prove unfair for the teams right on the edge of making it through or not... but I'm not FIE...
  5. the decision was taken only yesterday...it's quite normal that nobody is aware of that, yet...
  6. KEN have reasonably good tradition in Boxing...
  7. Thanks God I live in Italy...No need to vote at all... no matter what's the voting result, in any case politicians do whatever they want...and normally it doesn't reflect any hope, will, need of common people...
  8. 2020 Grand Slam (Düsseldorf, GER) Day #3 Recap The last day of a Judo world tour event is usually dedicated to the big men and women... this tournament made no exception... Japan's domination continued also today, but only among the women, where Shori Hamada (-78kg) and Sara Asahina (+78kg) were just unbeatable... among the men, instead, all 3 titles from today's action went to Countries of the former Soviet Union, in particular Uzbekistan surprised most of the audience by winning 2 Gold Medals (Davlat Bobonov, -90kg and Mukhammadkarim Khurramov, -100kg), while Georgia took the super-heavyweights (+100kg) title home, thanks to Guram Tushishvili... so, at the end of the tournament, Japan destroyed the field taking 8 Gold Medals, followed at a remarkable distance by Georgia and Uzbekistan with 2 Gold Medals each and further behind by Canada and France with "only" 1 Gold Medal each... 10. p.s. the next men's Sabre world cup stage (originally to be held in Padua, ITA from March 6th through March 8th) has been officially cancelled (actually, postponed to undefined date...however, surely it won't be held before the end of the OQP anymore) because of Coronavirus, which is spreading very quickly in that area of North-East Italy...

  13. yes, you're right...the individual summary is only a provisional standing...
  14. no, because JPN can't add a full team quota...they will only add 2 more names to the already qualified Shikine (I don't think they can reject his quota and then add 3 more)... however, they have 8 quota to play with to get as many full teams they can...
  15. no, seed #1 and #2 obviously would go to no.1 and 2 of the WR, but then there will be a draw between 3 and 4 to decide who's going to be seed no.3 and no.4, then 5th and 6th of the WR will be drawn into seed no.5 or 6 and so on...

  22. France just killed the Polish dream in women's Foil, as they won the 3rd place match against the Polish girls by a score of 45-41... Hungary's 6th place at the end of the day therefore was enough to save their asses and qualify to Tokyo 2020...
  23. nevermind...there was Bolshunov already in between the 10 Norwegians...
  24. and so, Russia beat Italy in the quarterfinals of the men's team foil event in Egypt, therefore they're still in contention for a spot in the top 4 overall, which would mean that Germany would qualify to the Olympics at the expense of the Koreans... however, to keep their dream alive, Russia need to win their semifinal match vs France and need to finish the day behind them (provided RUS make the final, as said)...
