  1. naaaa...you don't win both the 10km open water race and the 1500m free in the pool if you're not in top shape... I'm sure he's at his best...the 800m free was just a mistake by him, he did underestimate the level of competition and didn't have a plan B once he was strugglig with the low pace in his heat...that's it... if he says anything different, he's just playing mind games looking at the future...
  2. this is better for those teams, with this group composition, they're sure not to face each other in the quarterfinals, so they're safe in the top 5 (which is what they need to go to the olympic qualification tournament)... edit: if the groups are like those posted by @Dunadan they're more balanced, but also more risky for the supposed top 4/5 teams...
  3. those who did play in the WBC 2017 can't be in the Olympic team, as they do not have full ISR citizenship... this new group is eligible to play also at WBSC level, as they've been given official ISR citizenship in time...
  4. this hurts...it really hurts... only small consolation, the German is still well far away from WR time (and I'm sure Greg next year will be ready to swim below 14.30)...
  5. decisive or not (obviously they expected to have ITA vs NED today afternoon), don't forget that they have sold a lot of tickets for a NED match at that time... I know it's not fair, but most times only explicit tv/media requests can change things even if it would be a lot more logical to do that in any case...and this is one of those cases...
  6. p.s. tell that to IOC... are you aware of the fact that men's basketball tournament in Tokyo will play the Gold Medal match hours before the Bronze medal match?
  7. he has a lot to do with that (and also the fact that Italy is showing those matches live on their main pay-tv -Sky Italia, who are behind the tv/streaming production of the entire event- plays its role)... the organizers had stated clearly before the tournament that NED would play always the last game any day under any circumstance...and I don't think they would change that if no word from the "high places" came to give them such kind of "advice"...
  8. yeah, by lately we had quite a few tournaments held in the Netherlands (Baseball European Champs more than once, Baseball & Softball super-6 and more)... and all of them had poor tv/streaming coverage... I do really think they should not even take into consideration any bid from any Country if they can't have an established good quality media coverage...
  9. Pilato! our wonder baby seems not to be bothered by any sort of pressure...she improved her PB/NR once again in the heats... and as expected, Wellbrock and Romanchuk are there, close to super-Greg (who said he's only used this morning's heat as a warm-up...I fear he not only wants to win the gold medal tomorrow, but also try to go for Sun's WR...and I'm not sure that would be a good and safe idea)... the poor performance over the 800m free by both is already only a bad memory...

  11. by the way, today's decisive match between ITA and GBR has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. CET as the last match of the tournament (and not at noon CET, as previously determined by the organizers...sometimes it helps having the world federation's president being from 1 of the 2 Countries involved in the key matchup )... p.s. I discovered that the entire tv/streaming production is made by an Italian service (after explicit request by the WBSC president, Riccardo Fraccari)...if it was for the Dutch TV, no pictures from this tournament would have been available (so, why they always award this kind of tournaments to the Dutch federation?)...
  12. in Fukushima... and, given the start times of the softball and football matches, they're also not at the same time (softball matches are at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. local time; football doesn't start before 4.30 p.m. local time)... on day -2 (all 6 games)...on day -1 it's men's football (all 8 games)...
  13. me, too...expecially when she poses in lingerie for some fashion magazine...
  14. no, Camillo was a fan of chicken meat (not only that, but it was definitely on top of the ranking)... it's all connected with a joke in Italian language...with the way you could describe Camillo's way of walking (with soft footsteps), which in Italian is said "felpato" (from here, the sound like the name of "phelps"...shortened in "phelp" + the final "s" to make it sound more "global")... and since I'm the opposite of that, being quite a big man (wider than taller, of course), often described as an elephant in the crystal shop, someone in my family started calling me "phelps" to joke about a comparison between the cat's delicate moves and my impetuosity... that's how my nickname took shape...
  15. I didn't know it's common name for pets also at your latitude... however, it's a nice name...so, that's why it's so popular...
  16. the cat was not named Phelps...he was named Camillo (and unfortunately I have to use the past tense, as he's been killed a few years ago )...
  17. try this (in case it's not working, use the Chrome browser extension Hola)... https://www.raisport.rai.it/dirette.html?canale=RaiSport Web 2
  18. actually, I did it when I first signed up to the old forum (2011, I had the privilege to be the first user of the forum )... and it has nothing to do with the American swimmer (in fact I didn't use the capital letter on purpose), but it's something related to the lovely cat you can see in my avatar...
