I don't know if it makes any difference, but Jesolo is not an official FIG event. It's just like a "friendly" meet. But of course they apply FIG rules to the scoring system, it's just that it's not officially sanctioned or promoted by FIG.

Also, the artistic gymnastics all around world cup in Stuttgart has been canceled. This is insane. I would be okay with a closed doors event, but canceling it is one of the worst things that could happen to the Olympic qualification system.

IFAGG is a mess. FIG looks like a super professional federation compared to IFAGG. Not many people even know aesthetic groups gymnastics exist as a sport. Even I can't really take it seriously, to be honest.

Not a good start for the all-around world cup series, unfortunately. Mostly unimpressive performances today. Hurd was solid, but far from her best form, and I'm really not impressed with DiCielo (as expected she was terribly overscored). Hatakeda hit her routines, but 53.8 is nothing to write home about. Even Hurd scoring 55.832 is nothing spectacular, really. She would have placed 7th last year at the world championships and I believe 57 will be the threshold for a medal in Tokyo. Gadirova has lots of potential and she would have earned the bronze medal if she did not have to count a fall. She's very promising. Everybody else is just meh. Biles, Lee, Andrade, Xijing and two Russians (among Listunova, Urazova and Melnikova) are capable of scoring higher than what Hurd scored today. And what happened to Villa? The girl looks exhausted in her first competition this year. Unbelievable.

I've just discovered paralympic powerlifting and I'm in love with this sport. It's so exciting to watch! I never trusted weightlifting after so many doping scandals, so I could never get into it, but powerlifting is absolutely amazing!

This is shocking news since Turkey has never been even remotely successful in rhythmic gymnastics, but now they placed ahead of the (very competent and Olympic-quota favorite) USA group. EDIT: Now earned their first ever medal at a Grand Prix event too! The Pan American Championships are going to be very interesting.

With due respect, you're describing the routines of the US girls. You have to learn to appreciate other teams too. Dutch and Canadian girls have awesome choreography, especially Brooklyn Moors. EDIT: If you want to watch routines that are closer to NCAA in elite gymnastics, Belgium is your team to watch (especially Nina Derwael). They have very simple acrobatic skills, okay-ish choreography and clean execution. But they perform too few difficult skills for me to care. I prefer gymnasts with a solid dancing background but way harder tumbling skills (Saraiva and Andrade from Brazil, most of the Russian girls, some of the Chinese girls).

It was a tough choice between 2012 and 2020, but ultimately I voted for 2012.

I'm still hopeful Reis will get a medal after all. Unlikely, but this sport is so crazy the results keep changing years after the events ended.

Are you surprised at all? The Academy Awards were created by Americans to award American movies. In all seriousness, the Palme D'Or is the only award I respect (even though Spike Lee is the jury president this year and I dislike all of his movies).

Yes! Great news. This makes for a far more exciting Olympics now. Unfortunately the same can't be said about women's artistic gymnastics. Biles will be as dominant as ever and keep this sport from being any fun. I can't wait for her to retire.

That's the point: they add a lot of important themes on a superhero show. I can't stand them. I will never buy into the illusion if there are superheroes. I'm confident it's a good show for those who want to watch it, but unfortunately I don't.
