How i hate Pigossi........

So an update on the men’s/women’s shortboard events:
 
In women’s shortboard,  Tatiana Weston Webb has advanced to the final (and has assured herself a guaranteed silver medal) where she’ll face the winner of  Sanoa Olin v.  Leilani McGonagle (both are guaranteed at least bronze). As Tatiana has already qualified for Paris through the WSL Championship Tour, the heat between Olin and McGonagle is a direct battle for a Paris quota. In men’s shortboard,  Francisco Bellorin (guaranteed at least silver) has advanced to the final, with the winner of  Lucca Mesinas and  Miguel Tudela (both are guaranteed at least bronze) joining him. As none of these athletes have secured an Olympic quota yet, whoever wins the gold medal match will qualify themselves for Paris.

We have now reached the midway point of the Pan American Games. Let's take a look on how nations are performing relative to 2019. Of the 197 events completed, 175 were also held in 2019 (with some minor weight adjustments in boxing). Here's a table ranking how much better (or worse) a nation is performing.

Canada (+16 total) and Mexico (+15) have seen a very large increase, including +13 gold medals. Brazil is still on pace to finish second on the table, but the race may be close should Brazil slightly falter. Despite being suspended, Guatemala is doing well as is Uruguay (+4).
 
On the negative side, Cuba has dropped the most medals relative to 2019 by losing 25 medals. Argentina also suffered quite a bit going -18. The Dominican Republic rounds out the bottom three with -7.

What a day for Brazil. They won 6/9 events today catapulting them closer to Mexico and Canada. Venezuela moved into the top 10, pushing Argentina out who still struggles to win gold medals.

Aquela arena parece ser usada para todo tipo de coisa menos Ciclismo de Pista né
 
E minha sugestão seria o Pentatlo só com 4 modalidades  Porque aquele negócio de obstáculos é bem ruim mesmo.

O legado do Rio para o Ciclismo de Pista foi zero né? Não parece que há interesse algum por essa modalidade. Ciclismo até agora só decepção tirando os dois bronzes do MTB. O Tiro foi outro esporte com desempenho horroroso aqui, ao menos ganhou um sofrido bronze para não passar em branco.
 
Quanto ao Pentatlo, Brasil poderia ter ganhado medalhas nos revezamentos não fossem eliminações no hipismo. Um esporte que depende mais de sorte do que competência não deveria estar no programa olímpico. Peguei ranço sim 

Vôlei de Praia
 
Dois ouros em dois possíveis, não tem muito o que falar haha. Campanha perfeita e a dupla Ana Patrícia/Duda consolidando a boa fase. Ótimo desempenho da dupla André/George também. Sinceramente, não esperava muito deles depois da péssima participação no mundial, mas acho que eles deram uma boa resposta e voltaram pra briga interna pelas vagas. Até porque não há nenhuma dupla se destacando no masculino.
 
Boxe
 
13 categorias, 12 medalhas e 9 vagas olímpicas, não dá pra reclamar! Excelente trabalho da equipe técnica do Boxe, e dá pra entender porque o esporte virou o carro-chefe do país. Uma pena que hoje tivemos duas desistências que poderiam ser ouros, mas a missão foi feita. Agora, temos outras 4 categorias para buscar as vagas no pré-olímpico, e acredito que conseguiremos mais.
 
Ciclismo de Pista
 
De longe a pior modalidade do ciclismo brasileiro. É uma pena que passa Pan e Olimpíadas, e não há quase nenhuma evolução. Falta investimento e vontande de querer mudar o panorama do esporte no país. Já estamos praticamente fora de Paris nesta modalidade, e não consigo entender como conseguimos ficar atrás de países como  e  nos rankings.
 
Pentatlo Moderno
 
Nem uma medalha, mas uma vaga olímpica garantida. Pra ser sincero, era isso que eu esperava, mas poderíamos ter conseguido mais, obviamente. O rev feminino quase pegou medalha (a propósito gostei bastante desse evento). Mas, é claro como a modalidade não soube aproveitar a medalha olímpica da Yane e, desde então, só tem tido papel figurativo nas competições. Vamos ver se após os Jogos Olímpicos, junto com as mudanças do esporte, o Brasil consiga trazer melhores resultados
 
Tiro Esportivo
 
Fiquei um pouco decepcionando aqui, esperava uma participação um pouco mais eficiente dos atletas brasileiros. Apenas uma medalha de bronze com o Wu na Pistola de 10m. Fiquei bastante contente com a conquista dele. Eu conheço o Wu, e a sua esposa, Rosane, e eles são super simpáticos, então estava na torcida por eles. Mas o Brasil precisa trabalhar aqui, este é um esporte que dá muitas medalhas e há bastante espaço para crescer. Também esperava algumas vagas olímpicas, era uma ótima chance para garantir mais alguns atletas, mas acho que algumas vagas ainda iremos conseguir nos próximos eventos.

Good day for Brazil with 6 golds!

Um ótimo dia para o Brasil, finalmente com um esporte que superou a expectativa de ouros (previ 2 para o Boxe, ganharam 4), além de outro que correspondeu às previsões (Vôlei de Praia com 2 ouros, algo que era até arriscado não acontecer). Com isso compensamos 2 dos 4 ouros perdidos em outros esportes.
 
Amanhã começa o Judô e espero uma campanha decente do Brasil. Finais do Baseball e Tênis também podem trazer alguma dourada.

Legally, is simple, but the Constitutional Court does not want to hear the case again, because it means removing the corrupted current board.  All government has been taken by corruption because they found a gold mine in it. Too sad. Maybe next year when new government takes office in January.

If I am not wrong, that's the second time where we have two editions of Panam Games in a row, which both hosts have a frontier between them 
 
The first one happened in 1955 - 1959 in Cidade do México  and Chicago .

I actually live in Guatemala now and some of the people here are very upset over this. The country just went through some civil unrest earlier this month due to some corruption in government, and the people are getting really sick of it. It's so sad that the athletes have to pay for the corruption of the government.
