  1. Big event of the weekend is the New York marathon on Sunday on ES/D+. On the undercard on Saturday, the US 5km Road Racing Championships. https://www.usatf.tv/gprofile.php?mgroup_id=45365&mgroup_event_id=2519&year=2023&do=videos&video_id=367317
  2. Wow, back in the olden days on the BBC his black-and-white routines with Belousova in the 60s always used to be shown as the epitome of classical elegance in ice skating.
  3. Following the success of the UCI Glasgow “All kinds of cycling all at once” meet this summer, the FIS propose a similar deal for their sports in 2028. Engadine & Lillehammer keen to host. https://www.fis-ski.com/en/international-ski-federation/news-multimedia/news-2022/two-candidates-apply-to-host-fis-games-2028
  4. No they wouldn’t, because a Pan-EU team would be picked on political lines, so you’d gave Maltese sprinters, Cypriot ski jumpers, Irish baseball players, Lithuanian rugby players etc etc.
  5. The season’s first snows have frosted the Rocky Mountains, the northern Plains, the Great Lakes and northern New England over the past week, resulting in the most extensive early-November snow cover in at least two decades. On Wednesday morning, snow was on the ground in 17.9 percent of the Lower 48, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. And I’m guessing 100% of the Upper 1. https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/snow-cover-in-the-lower-48-is-at-record-levels-as-november-starts/ar-AA1jdZxe
  6. Just a reminder - season starts Saturday 11 November with the first Norwegian domestic races!
  7. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. A strong cold snap is currently spreading across the US - bringing with it potential record lows for much of the country. Already felt in places like Denver, the abnormal chill will affect wide swathes of the Midwest, South, and East, forecasts show - including almost all the Lower 48 states. A bone-chilling Halloween! US braces for the big freeze as 60 MILLION are set to be blasted by frost or snow from the North East as far as Texas and New Mexico | Daily Mail Online
  8. Big Cross Country meet in Atapuerca tomorrow morning. Rather a ermmmm risqué poster!
  9. Well, like I said, big interest for & In the women’s race. Just click on the stream & rewind if you want to watch it.
  10. Got a few things Various NCAA Cross Country meets Alpine skiing from Rugby League Test - v - great match last weekend Berlin Track Cycling Champions League Maybe some NCAA Volleyball, Cyclo-Cross, other YT oddities.
  11. It’s the NCAA Conference Cross Country Champs this weekend. Most of the primo ones are on pay TV, but PAC-12 should be a good one, probably involves some of your own young athletes & is FTA. Live at 18:00 UK time tomorrow.
  12. In English it’s probably “questioned under caution”. Basically, an official notification that you are being investigated and it’s time to seriously rethink the “abducted by aliens and replaced by a body double” defence strategy.
  13. No. But if the Government thinks it does not have to repay , what chance is there they will repay their own citizens? Tanzanian & various other African states have a 60-year history of borrowing money & not repaying it. That’s why they are poor, because ultimately all economic success is based on honour & obligation. Communist-style theft only works in the short term.
  14. It is the only way. Cross Country skiers all began by moving to , speed skaters to etc etc..
  15. Is it China’s fault if countries are stupid enough to borrow money, spend it on ministerial BMWs & then can’t repay it? Is China any harsher with Africa than Germany was with Greece? Nowadays, all borrowed money ultimately comes from someone’s pension funds. When I was young I thought differently, but now that I am a pensioner…..
  16. Out of nowhere, an original excuse for a failed test - accidentally ingesting your son’s cough medicine. Judging by his photo, “caught it off a tattoo needle” might have been worth a shot. Also: matches my theory that many doping fails are ageing professionals looking for another couple of seasons of paydays. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67189213
  17. Judges taking an insane risk there.
  18. Ok, a single run result would be fine also.
  19. Mia Brookes qualified first this morning, so it would be a tragedy if yesterday repeated itself.
  20. Also one from the Basque country, so the commentary might be an adventure. https://www.eitb.eus/es/deportes/deporte-en-directo/
  21. European Cross Country season starts this weekend with two good meets. Belfast, Saturday - lots of age group races to really chew the place up before the big names start.
  22. Not as bad as the time they beat us 9-3 at curling!
  23. Will still exist for the urban events of course.
  24. Yep, King of Jordan just said so.
  25. Also got the Track Cycling Champions League coming - you might remember its the 4 races in one night format, not the traditional World Cup style event over several days. Anyway, Mallorca on Saturday night.
