  1. Sure. Here's how the Italian jury result during last year Annual Contest, using the traditional method. J1 J2 J3 J4 J5 TOT IRL 9 8 8 11 2 38 NZL 8 1 5 12 3 29 CRO 1 9 12 7 29 LTU 10 6 4 20 BRA 10 2 2 5 19 TUN 11 5 3 19 NED 7 12 19 CHN 9 9 18 SVK 7 10 17 ALG 10 7 17 ESP 7 9 16 GER 2 12 14 Now here how I propose it could work: 1) First every song receiving the maximum 12 points should be ranked. J1 J2 J3 J4 J5 TOT CRO 12 12 GER 12 12 NED 12 12 NZL 12 12 POL 12 12 2) As we can see, last each jury member chose a different "winner" song. So in this cases the first tie breaking criteria would be total number on individual juries voting for them, which will result in something like this: J1 J2 J3 J4 J5 TOT JV NZL 8 1 5 12 3 29 5 CRO 1 9 12 7 29 4 NED 7 12 19 2 GER 2 12 14 2 POL 12 12 1 3) Then we can see there's still have a tie between the Dutch and German entries. So, the next criteria to apply would be which of those received the "bigger" points, resulting in the Netherlands' song beaing ranked third and Germany's fourth. As you can see at this point, Poland's entry which wasn't originally ranked, yet was deemed the winner by one individual jury would still receive some decent points. 4) Then we will repeat the same process with those songs ranked second by the individual juries: J1 J2 J3 J4 J5 TOT JV IRL 9 8 8 11 2 38 5 TUN 11 5 3 19 3 DEN 3 11 14 2 AUS 1 11 12 2 COL 11 1 12 2 5) Now, Australia and Colombia tie can't be broken by the factors explained above, so a random draw would take place to rank them. 6) Then the same process would be repeated with songs ranked 3rd, then 4th and so son, if necessary.
  2. @OlympicIRL for the moment I choose option A was thinking the following: For multiple member juries, instead of adding the total points, what about applying the tie-breaking criteria? That would mean that for that specific jury, their numer one song should be the one with most individual juries ranking it first. Then in case of a tie, we should look for each song how many 2nd places, then 3rd places, etc. And only in case of an absolute tie, then a random draw?
  3. Couldn't agree more. Still more chances for Aruba to catch Mexico in laser radial, than Mexico overtaking Canada in 470. Poor Trinidad and Tobago has to battle a Canadian fleet
  4. First, and in the foreseable future, only Mexican medalist in a Winter discipline
  5. I'm just glad a Mexican athlete will earn a medal in women's mixed team 3x3 hockey. That would probably make her the first athlete from a Latin American NOC to earn a medal in a Winter Olympic Games
  6. I agree each event should have a continent from every continent; however, with so few quotas it's unfair that they get a free pass just because there are no other competitors in their area.
  7. Carlos Girón, 65, pneumonia. Diving, 1972/1976/1980/1984 Summer Olympics Silver medal, 3m Springboard, 1980 Summer Olympics
  8. I just wish these "free" continental quotas will be limited in the future, like establishing that the only will be awarded if three or more members from a continent with a current ranking compete in it.
  9. I think rather Venezuela qualified, isn't it?
  10. And Venezuela gets the ticket for Tokyo Another missed oportunity for Chile after 2016.
  11. A long shot, but can she actually earn points to keep the fight for an Olympic quota?
  12. Surprisingly, Mexico forced the Dominican Republic to a fifth set, which was surprising in itself. Sadly, they drop the towel in the end. I'm curious about what they can do against Puerto Rico and Canada.
  13. Wow, Venezuela upset the hosts 3 sets to 1. This could be an interesting tournament.
  14. Happy New Year everyone May 2020 be a great year for each of you and Totallympics.
  15. So if Norway won't do it, who qualifies?
  16. I don't say it was bullshit, just explaining why some here might consider that a bullshit medal. As you say, I myself only blame Mexican riders for originally losing that race.
  17. Because they originally won bronze after Mexico had two false starts in the bronze medal race
  18. Well, Paul is most surely in Tokyo as Trinidad and Tobago in sprint is the first NOC not qualified for the team event, and they hold can't longer be pushed behind 7th place. They will likely get another spot in keirin, as they're currently in fifth position on the list.
  19. It seems Njisane Phillip tested positive, so that substracts a gold and a silver for Trinidad and Tobago, not to mention this will really hurt their chances to qualify for Tokyo in team sprint. Also, Mexico got silver and Peru a bronze medal in men's team sprint, after both Trinidad and Tobago & Brazil got disqualied
  20. I know it's quite early, but before I go help cooking, let me wish everyone here a Merry Christmas Here in Mexico, people get together tonight and dine, the menu is different according to the region, but tonight we're having onion soup and turkey with mashed potatos and vegetables this time.
  21. I'm not from South America, but I can tell you the following are quite good: Bandeja Paisa Ceviche & Lomo Saltado Churrasco Chivito Asado, Milanesa & Cordero al Palo Chorrillana
  22. No surprises as Elizabeth Cui wins the quota in women’s springboard and Domonic Bedggood winning the men’s platform competition by just 0.15 over fellow Aussie Sam Fricker
  23. I don't think it's that bad... Lima also had its entire OC shuffled with less than two years to go and they delivered. Santiago should not be as problematic as it is a better planned city, unless the protests continue and violence scales.
