  1. Connor Bentley is probably their next big hope - he was the Under 23 World Champion last year - although has been a bit underwhelming on the main tour this year, finishing outside the top 30 at European Games but he does have European Cup level wins in 2023.
  2. So by my tally, we've got the full medal breakdowns for , , and gold medalists for
  3. Germany's defeat at the hands of Colombia has shaken up Gracenote's prediction a fair bit - to the benefit of - who go from losing in the round of 16 to now being semi-finalists - and who are now predicted to reach the final.
  4. Was a bit surprised at the pretty poor turnout from athletes for the Sunderland leg of WTCS but it looks like Yee, Brownlee, GTB, Potter and Coldwell will all be looking to secure their qualification for Paris
  5. No - trying to piece it together from various global media sources but it's a pain that nobody has published the full list
  6. Another couple of medal predictions for Japan confirmed: Gold BMX Cycling - Men's Freestyle: Rim Nakamura Athletics - Men's 20km Racewalk: Toshikazu Yamanishi Wrestling - Women's Freestyle 50Kg: Yui Susaki
  7. A couple more details from Gracenote's predictions Breaking - Women: Gold - Ami Yuasa Silver - Liu Qingyi Bronze - Ayumi Fukushima Breaking - Men: Gold - Philip Kim Silver - Victor Montalvo Bronze - Shigeyuki Nakarai
  8. So at the end of the competition, the status of relay qualification for Paris is:
  9. Barclay Izzard finally records a decent individual result in a WTCS event! (Even if it is probably one of the weakest lineups we've seen in a while)
  10. An interesting development - especially as we missed the 10m synchro quota. I wonder if he will look to team up with Matty Lee again or whether he will just look to secure the 2nd individual quota.
  11. In an Olympic year, the chances of getting a top quality field are likely to diminish so the return on investment is likely to be lower than in previous years and without the pull of the Brownlees it's not a surprising decision.
  12. Can I ask, as a cricket fan, what you would argue that T20 would bring to the Olympics? At the moment, the only argument I've seen for its inclusion is the increased revenue from broadcast rights in India.
  13. If anything it probably has more impact on the European quota with Poland being big beneficiary as they are almost certain to reach quarter finals now.
  14. Which nations are active in flag football? It's not a sport that I'm familiar with.
  15. Agreed. Obviously Neilsen haven't taken into account the results from Budapest - they're predicting that Australia are going to have significant reduction in number of gold medals but their performance in the pool this week would suggest that a dramatic drop off in performance would be required for that to happen. Likewise for America, I read somewhere that they were predicting USA to take around 48% of the medals available across swimming and athletics - for that to happen, but based on the US swim team results this week, that's unlikely. But it'll be interesting to see how their predictions develop over the next 12 months - based on previous cycles, I'd be expecting them to update it on monthly basis.
  16. Multiple media outlets in UK reporting that T20 cricket is "very likely" to feature on the 2028 Olympic programme. With the format being a pool of 5 teams for both men and women. Qualification would be based on world rankings so would include , , , and for men and , , , and for women (always assuming Scottish cricket don't raise any stupid objections) If they reserve spot for as home nation, then would lose out in both cases. It looks like this is purely being driven by money - if cricket is included, the value of broadcast rights in India could increase to 10 times their current value - but it would eat up about 110 athlete quotas. Given it has to be a pretty safe bet that baseball/softball is also going to return to the programme and that is going to require around 230 athlete quotas, it begs the questions, where do these 340 quotas come from? Looking at the Paris quota breakdown, for the non-core sports (breaking, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing), given USA will be expecting to medal in skateboarding and surfing, I can't see them being dropped. Likewise, I think sport climbing is becoming established in the programme so would be unlikely to be dropped. This means the only sport not likely to return in Los Angeles is breaking but that only frees up 36 quotas. Boxing, Weightlifting and Modern Pentathlon aren't officially on the schedule yet so you'd have to assume that the quotas will come from those 3 sports. Modern pentathlon probably joins breaking as a goner - freeing up another 72 quotas but that would still leave 200 short. Losing 23 individual medal events to be replaced by 4 team medals would seem to be a bit extreme.
  17. With Nigeria overcoming Australia yesterday, they could be facing in the last 16. big beneficiary as they are now projected semi finalists.
  18. I though Sagan was targeting the MTB at Paris? Given Slovakia aren't exactly close to getting a spot through the rankings, his best route may have been to focus on MTB at Glasgow.
  19. Caitlin Maxwell takes out 9th seed Araceli Navarro to make it through to the last 16 of sabre. The GB fencing guys aren't challenging for medals, but so far the squad has been delivering some pretty solid results.
  20. New Gracenote assessment: Australia replace France as projected semi-finalist
  21. Hopefully Kristjan Archer can take advantage of his departure and progress to round of 16 (but I won't hold my breath)
  22. They only post the headline numbers - media outlets have to pay for the sport breakdown so the only way to find the information is to pull it from various sources.
  23. Definitely not mine - they are from Gracenote Nielsen. They release a virtual medal table for every Olympic and with it being a year until Paris, this is their initial projections. Normally they will release a new version each month in the run up to the games.
  24. I go with the font of athletics knowledge in the UK - the BBC talking heads and they called her Natalie
