  1. Man, British Empire is taking all those hits while buried in the grave. Anglicization of the global languages is the longest-lasting effect of the Seven Years War
  2. Aryna Sabalenka beat Ons Jabeur in three sets. In the other group today: Świątek beat Kasatkina 6-2 6-4 (fifth win in a row in this match-up) and Garcia beat Gauff 6-4 6-3.
  3. Trade deadline passed today. Here are the moves:
  4. First match finished. Maria Sakkari beat Jessica Pegula 7-6 7-6 @Makedonas
  5. Three straight games for Jeremy Sochan with double-digit points (CH is 14 so far). Meanwhile LA Lakers finally won a game after going 0-5 to start the season.
  6. Ross Chastain floors it against the wall and makes up five spots in one corner to advance to the NASCAR Playoffs finale. If this was a cartoon movie nobody would believe it Days of Thunder 3 just have a new script ready...
  7. Astros won 5-2 so the series heads to Philadelphia tied.
  8. Game 2 and Astros takes 5-0 lead again
  9. Brazil has over 200 million of citizens and the best they can do vs Bolsonaro is to bring up 77yo old-timer? No wonder populism is ahem.. popular. At least it gives an impression of being something new or simply younger.
  10. Yeah, in 1983 after he won TJ at the first World Championships.
  11. YEC starts on Monday. Great draw for Iga Świątek with Kasatkina & Gauff whom she owns lately in her group. The other group is anyone's for the taking if Sabalenka's serve somehow holds up.
  12. World Series Game 1 is underway. Kyle Tucker hit two HR in two at-bats and Astros take a 5-0 lead after three innings
  13. Women's cancelled GS re-scheduled to Semmering.
  14. This is what you get with 80 year olds running the politics
  15. Let's hope it won't be too confusing with Norway? Not like we should expect the Fialkova family team to keep up with most of the Norwegians anyway?
  16. Looks like the Sauber buyout has been finalised. Which means Alfa Romeo becomes Audi.
  17. No way they're moving the NA races before the Thanksgiving weekend IMO. Early December dates in Europe were also often compromised, it just so happens that most countries have the best winter conditions around the same time. You can stage races in March in the arctic parts of Sweden, Finland and Norway. As for expanding the calendar, well, as long as Shiffrin doesn't retire US TV might be interested in carrying the coverage. If only she hangs it up then I can see a World Cup calendar with zero NA races.
  18. Some high-profile progressive Democrats busted for sending a letter to Joe Biden urging him to negotiate directly with Putin and ignore Ukraine in the talks. Cortez-Ocasio among those useful idiots who signed it.
  19. Will this be another Maribor-like annual shitshow? I assume they counted on late October/early November being suitable to have snow at such high altitude but if this doesn't work there's like no other place to put this on calendar given how Wengen is locked and St. Moritz would be unwilling to move around. And they won't throw the North American races to March like it was in the 80s.
  20. Tomasz Wójtowicz (Olympic & World Champion in volleyball) passed away from cancer at the age of 69.
  21. Well, firing Joe Girardi turned out to be a good move Then again Astros should be huge favorites in WS (no way Yankees come back from 0-3 down in ALCS).
  22. Well, it was about time Lance Stroll reminded everyone he's only riding his daddy's wallet in F1...
  23. Yeah, there were some reports of his ill health in the last few weeks. The question remains whether the Red Bull co-founder's son is a racing fan too? Red Bull has sponsored many other sport events, not just motor racing.
  24. Playoff groups: Group A: Portugal / Cameroon / Thailand Group B: Chile / Senegal / Haiti Group C: Panama / Paraguay/ Chinese Taipei / Papua New Guinea Anyway, two hosts got very favorable groups but New Zealand can crash out versus the two UEFA teams for sure, Sweden & Germany got the easiest groups among the top teams. Given the underwhelming Netherlands performance lately, Portugal is not without a chance to cause an upset if they win their playoff match.
