  1. Biden is against asylum-seekers after all. So much for the liberal & progressive politics https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65047438
  2. 0-0 draw vs Luxembourg. Yeah, I'd say Slovakian football is not doing great here. Poland plays Czech Republic in Prague tomorrow so let's see how the Santos era begins
  3. Julian Nagelsmann has been fired from Bayern Munich. Thomas Tuchel of all people is the new manager
  4. Nope! It was running under it's own power with all four wheels on the ground
  5. Ah yes, Trabant jokes. Sadly I'm old enough to remember these vehicles being operational The last one I saw moving from point A to B was 2006 IIRC
  6. It's kinda funny since Bydgoszcz has the big outdoor stadium which is basically the #1 facility for athletics in Poland (save for Chorzów for historical reasons) and Toruń has build the indoor athletics arena. Both cities are separated by like 50 km distance and they have a long-standing rivalry for exposure in the region
  7. Well, Kostyuk couldn't handle Potapova at all. Played a terrible match and lost 1-6 3-6 Handshake ignored like expected.
  8. I don't really know. Could be something venue related. I mean even Holland hosted their indoor nationals at the converted velodrome in Appeldorn. I suppose such makeshift arenas won't pass for a global championships. Not to mention some warm weather countries don't really build many indoor arenas for athletics? I believe France and Germany have many arenas like that but that is about it.
  9. 9th place for Ekaterina Kurakova after SP, would be a huge success if she remained in Top 10 after free.
  10. 2026 World Indoor Championships will be held in Toruń, Poland.
  11. Technically speaking she blamed it on tortellini https://www.smh.com.au/sport/tennis/former-world-no5-sara-errani-blames-tortellini-for-failed-drug-test-20170808-gxrguo.html
  12. Iga Świątek has withdrawn from Miami with a rib injury.
  13. Ohtani strikes out Trout. Japan wins 3-2!
  14. Betts at bat ends with double play! Trout could be the final out...
  15. USA escape with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth...
  16. Camila Giorgi beats Kaia Kanepi 7-6(4) 6-7(4) 7-6(4) in 3 hours and 32 minutes And when Giorgi throws the racquet then it's flying all the way
  17. Miami 1000 has started today; Marta Kostyuk beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto in R1 so we have the high drama R2 match vs Anastasia Potapova coming next. We could have some ugly scenes in that one if things boil over, Potapova is hardly as anonymous as Gracheva who played Kostyuk in the Austin final three weeks ago.
  18. Could be one of the worst ends Anna Hasselborg has ever played (at least from what I've seen). Germany take FIVE stones and win 9-3 with one end scratched. Polish commentator said the Jentzsch rink lost 11 straight matches vs Hasselborg before?
  19. Top nations have the resident problem that newcomers are blocked by veterans who can keep up the relative high standard for several years even if they're #5 or #6 on the depth chart. Sometimes there comes a fortunate break with a pregnancy pause or it has to get drastic like the Italians did with Sanfilippo to make room for the youngsters. It's never a problem for minor biathlon nations where talented & successful juniors can immediately move into World Cup level full-time (see Żuk in Poland, Davidova in Czech Republic or Todorova in Bulgaria).
  20. Elena Rybakina wins Indian Wells 1000 beating Aryna Sabalenka 7-6(11) 6-4 in the final. Definitely the two most in-form players to sit behind Świątek in the rankings. If Wimbledon virtual points counted then Rybakina would be #3 in the rankings on merit.
  21. Final World Cup standings for women: 1. Simon 1093 2. Wierer 911 3. Vittozzi 882 4. Herrmann-Wick 874 5. E. Oeberg 764 6. Tandrevold 731 7. H. Oeberg 710 8. Chevalier-Bouchet 670 9. Davidova 668 10. Hauser 604 ... 51. Żuk 82 64. Jakieła 36 77. Mąka 15
  22. Oeberg wins ahead of Olsbu and Chevalier-Bouchet who denies Kebinger a maiden podium.
  23. Herrmann can still 3rd place in the overall from Vittozzi?
  24. Meltdown for Jeanonnot but Olsbu 5/5 in the fog...
  25. Win #88 for Shiffrin to close out the season. Maryna G-D in 8th place
