Solid results in the 200 free. Obviously Summer is a beast but I was definitely more excited about MSH going 1:56.76. 1:58s from Jansen and Brousseau are decent results at this point in time and of course it's great to see Penny getting better. Also in the 100m backstroke, 15 year old Madison Kryger set a new PB of 1:00.81.

Men’s team through to the gold medal match at the Pan American Championships and are just one win away from an Olympic quota! Should we win against Colombia on Sunday (far from a given of course) it would be the first time we’ve had a team in archery since Beijing 2008.

Very excited to see the 100m freestyle final for women later today. Harvey seems to be on a roll right now and I wonder if she can get another PB.

  5. Easy win for Hungary as expected, but I felt we gave a decent account of ourselves. A lot of work needs doing though, as we missed quite a few clear cut chances due to our throws being too weak.

  6. Quick midweek update on some trials/national meets this week: Hungary Most of the highlights have already been mentioned by other users on the forum. However, one swim was missed. Yesterday in the men's 200 IM, Gabor Zombori swam 1:57.88 to beat his lifetime best by over a second. That swim gets him under the OQT needed for the Olympics. South Africa (After 3 of 6 days) Josh has already mentioned Schoenmaker's time. However, in the same race, Kaylene Corbett also went 2:23.71 to also confirm her ticket to Paris. She has been 2:22 in the qualification period at WUGS. Pieter Coetze also went 1:55.85 in the 200m backstroke to confirm his spot in Paris. Matt Sates has the OQT in the 200m butterfly but wasn't quite able to clear the OQT at this meet. However, I believe South Africa does accept OQT's from outside the national championships if no swimmer hits it there. New Zealand (After 3 of 5 days) Eve Thomas successfully added the 1500m freestyle to her event lineup to go alongside the 400m and 800m freestyles. She won in 16:07.46 to get under the OQT. Hazel Ouwehand established a New Zealand Record in the Women's 100m Butterfly. Her time of 57.43 gets her a ticket to Paris. Erika Fairweather has been in fine form going 1:55.45 and 4:02.35 in the 200 and 400m freestyles. She's already qualified in both events. Lewis Clareburt is already in fine form. He went 1:47.18 and 3:46.85 in the 200 and 400m freestyles. Both PB's and the latter is under the OCT. These set him up well for his better 200m butterfly and 200m IM events later in the meet where he is still hunting down the OQT's. Despite achieving the OQT at the 2023 World Championships, Andrew Jeffcoat is in danger of missing the Olympics. He already failed to hit the OQT in the 100m backstroke and has one more chance in the 200m backstroke here.

  7. so Iran finished the 1st day with 3 gold and 1 bronze. that looks good on paper but we had a very terrible start and some narrow wins. things got better during the day though. Japan and Bahrain (Russian mercenary, World Champ Tazhiddinov) won other two golds. for some wrestlers it's part of their Olympic trials. they have to reach certain goals to book their Olympic ticket. for example Amouzad made the Olympic team by winning the 65kg gold medal here.

  14. You SHOULD be great at ice hockey, but yer all too tall, and they stick all the ice lovers on massive racing tracks at the age of six months. Wheras with Scots, they just give them granite and tell them "it's basically bowls", in Germany they put you in a tin can and push you down it, and in Russia they take all the girls out of ballet school and see which one's react best to the drugs and twizzle on it...

  22. Women's Endurance events Women's Team Pursuit: Confirmed Quotas: Women's Madison: Confirmed Quotas from Team Pursuit: Safe Individual Quotas: Contested Quotas: - 4585 -------------- - 4482 - 4262 The last quota place should come down to a straightforward fight between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong. Mexico could be in the mix, but they probably have too much to do to be able to close the gap. Uzbekistan are not competing in Milton so it will all come down to what Hong Kong can achieve. Hong Kong will need to finish at least 10th to be able to overtake Uzbekistan. Generally, they have been finishing in the range of 10th-12th so whilst it will be difficult, it's not impossible. Given I used to live in Hong Kong, I've got my fingers crossed that they are able to do enough to get the final quota. Women's Omnium: Confirmed Quotas from Team Pursuit: Expected Quotas from Madison: Safe Individual Quotas: Continental Quota: Contested Quotas: - 2015.50 ----------------- - 1854.50 If Uzbekistan hold on and take the final Madison quota, then there are unlikely to be any contested quotas in the Omnium. Hong Kong would take the final individual quota. If there is a contested quota, Czechia have quite a high bar in order for them to be able to increase their points total as they would need to finish 9th or better but it's not any easier for Spain because although they have a lower discard score, in order to be able to overtake Czechia they would need to finish at least 10th. Czechia should therefore be safe for the final quota - but they need Hong Kong to help them out by taking the quota in the Madison.

At full force to keep our 14 qualified athletes maximum and secure that Universality-program country for 2032... but we will need to qualify 4 athletes less for LA, I think it is pretty doable though

  44. @phelps Our top-media paid attention to the story with the headline ""A group of corrupt officials". The winner of the 2016 Olympics in wrestling accused the judges of bias after the license tournament in Baku" But the story is far from the end! Bayramov stated in the interview for Azerbaijan IDMAN BIZ: "Chamizo should not forget that he won 5-6 matches by biased decisions of the referees, and as a result became a European, World and Olympic medalist." Counterattack is the best defence? But it looks he has no way to say that his own win was fair.
