  2. Full Paris 2024 Projected Medalists Summary Still unsure as to which weightclass Lukas Krjpalek (judo) will compete in at Paris. As for changes I’ve made, here’s a list: Rugby Sevens- Men’s Tournament Originally, it was Gold- New Zealand, Silver- Fiji, Bronze- Australia. Now, after the first two stops of the HSBC World Series, Gold- Australia, Silver- Argentina, Bronze- Fiji. Rugby Sevens- Women’s Tournament Originally, it was Gold- New Zealand, Silver- Australia, Bronze- United States. Now, after the first two stops of the HSBC World Series, Gold- Australia, Silver- France, Bronze- New Zealand. Rowing- Men’s Double Sculls/Pair Sinkovic brothers switched back to pairs for Paris, which has altered my medal predictions in both categories. For double sculls, originally it was Gold- Valentin Sinkovic/Martin Sinkovic, Silver- Melvin Twellaar/Stef Broenink, and Bronze- Aleix García/Rodrigo Conde. Now, it’s Gold- Melvin Twellaar/Stef Broenink, Silver- Aleix García/Rodrigo Conde, Bronze- Matteo Sartori/Luca Rambaldi. For pairs, originally it was Gold- Jaime Canalejo/Javier Garcia, Silver- Roman Röösli/Andrin Gulich, Bronze- Marius Cozmiuc/Sergiu Bejan. Now, it’s Gold- Valentin Sinkovic/Martin Sinkovic, Silver- Jaime Canalejo/Javier García, Bronze- Roman Röösli/Andrin Gulich Judo- Men’s +100kg Took out Lukas Krpalek as I still have no clue on which weightclass he’ll be competing in. Cuba’s Andy Granda now has bronze. Table Tennis- Men’s Singles Predicted Dario Jorgic to win bronze, now I’ve changed it to Lin Yun-Ju. Tennis- Women’s Doubles Krejcikova/Siniakova aren’t partnered up together anymore, so changed it to Siniakova/Vondrousova (IMO the third best Czech women’s doubles player) ignore: turboyev. BTW, later on I’ll also be doing a medal table/list of medalists by sport, and a list of medalists by country. This stuff takes a while to do (approximately spent around 30 hours doing these predictions) so if you could show some support it would be much appreciated. Another couple of changes in swimming, I now have Great Britain winning silver in men’s 4x100m freestyle relay (swimming), which bumps both Australia (now bronze) and Italy (out of a medal position) down. Probably gonna change women’s rugby sevens/women’s BMX freestyle/women’s C1/K1/men’s 100m and 200m butterfly predictions/men’s and women’s street/women’s freestyle wrestling too, only one bronze for New Zealand/no medal for China/same C1/K1 silver and bronze medalists/Milak on the podium/two repeat athletes on the podium for Japan/all Japan gold medalists all sound unlikely.

  7. the men's Epee, instead, is a real mess and are all involved in a very hard fight for the top 4 places, which of course would determine also the Continental spots with 2 rounds to go, only and look quite safe, but for all the remaining spot (and their influence on who is going to qualify or not) it's definitely to close to call right now really, anything can still happen p.s. as often happens, are the only safe qualifier, as they have no opponents in the African Continent and they're too good to drop outside the top 16 of the overall ranking
    3 points
  8. in the women's Epee, are closing the gap (but they're still quite distant from) and for the Top 4 places in the OQR, but unless something catastrphic happens, all of these teams are in good position to earn their Olympic spot. the only real threat looks to be , if they can get another couple of top 2 placings in the last competitions of the OQP and one or more of the above teams miss out on good positions the remaining Continental spots should go to the currents "owners", as their main rivals are way behind and only a top 2 placing in the next events might move the ranking for them ( are basically qualified because of lack of opponents, both in the African dedicated standing and also in the overall ranking there's no risk for them to drop outside the top 16)

After 230 events, 31 NOCs won a medal, the new entries are Andorra and Romania. 22. It was not to be. Maybe the 200 free PB earlier in the session took it out of her so she could "only" go 57.79. Mollie put on a bit of a show in the 200 free going 1:54.36. It's gonna take a WR to beat her in Paris and even that might not be enough. Iona Anderson (100BK) and Thomas Neill (200FR) both earned themselves Doha QTs. Kaylee did as well (200FR) but she's already ruled out going.

  27. NON-Olympic action Today in Doha in the men's -96kg class, the Gold medal went surprisingly to Shahzadbek Matyakubov with a Total of 371kg (modest result, tbh), who just edged out by 1 kilo Davit Hovannisyan. Bronze went to Yang Tae Bong with a Total of 364kg. In the women's -76kg class, dominated the competition, as often happens when no lifter from is competing. Jong Chun Hui recorded 115-135-250kg and easily got the Gold medal. Gintare Brazaite (100-125-225kg) won Silver ahead of Alexia Gonzalez (93-114-207kg).

  31. In the men's -89kg class, a final C&J lift of 223kg gave Karlos Nasar victory with a Total of 393kg, despite being down in 6th place in snatch (170kg), and put him in the record books yet again. By surpassing both his own junior mark and Tian Tao’s senior world record in C&J he took his tally of world records at youth, junior and senior level to 30 since April 2021. Yeison Lopez Lopez, who has competed at 96kg after serving a doping suspension last year, made a six-from-six 180-210-390kg for 2nd place. He overtakes team-mate Brayan Rodallegas in the extended rankings and now he's 3rd behind Li Dayin from China, who withdrew here, and Nasar. Olympic Bronze medallist (behind 2 convicted dopers ) Antonino Pizzolato is one of the 3 lifters who made huge moves in the rankings. On his return from a back injury that stopped him lifting in 3 qualifiers, Pizzolato made four good lifts for 170-210-380kg. That gave him 3rd place in Doha and 6th useful place in the OQR. The 3rd big move was by Boady Santavy, who had his elbow reconstructed ten months ago and lifted at 96kg on his return at the World Championships in Saudi Arabia two months ago. Santavy, 26, made 172-100-372kg for snatch silver, 6th place on Total and 9th place in the OQR. This was his 1st career competition at 89kg. Keydomar Vallenilla, 3rd in snatch behind Lopez Lopez and Santavy, missed his last two C&J efforts and finished 5th on 171-207-378kg, one place behind the Ro Kwang Yol, who took C&J silver on 168-211-379kg. Marin Robu dropped out of the top ten in the OQR after he bombed out in snatch in the B Group. Two members of the IWF executive board were involved in an intriguing multi-national tussle lower down the rankings, where things get complicated for athletes chasing the one continental slot for Paris 2024. Forrester Osei, chair of the IWF Athletes Commission who lifts for and Kyle Bruce. It started well for Osei with a 145kg C&J but was followed by 5 no-lifts, leaving him with a lot to do. Osei, who was born in London, raised in Ghana and now works as a strength and conditioning coach in Qatar, will need to improve his best total by about 25kg by the end of qualifying in April. Osei and others in contention from will also need an ranked in the top ten, Karim Abokahla, to move up to 102kg for Paris, which he may do. If he does, the 89kg continental place will be open to athletes from Africa or Oceania, rather than Oceania only.

  33. Two athletes still young enough to compete as juniors made day seven of the IWF Grand Prix in Doha the most exciting day yet. In the women’s 71kg, the 20-year-old Olivia Reeves set seven junior world records in 5 lifts to enhance her ranking position. Song Kuk Hyang finished 1st ahead of the Olympic rankings leader Liao Guifang, but the most exciting contest was a head-to-head between Reeves and the Olympic 76kg silver medallist Kate Vibert, who finished 3rd and 4th. Despite dropping down to 71kg and making a career-high total that exceeded her Olympic performance by 5kg, Vibert finds herself in a worse position in the rankings because of Reeves’ run of success. Nations can send only athlete per weight category and now has two in the top 4 on the extended list after Reeves made 115-147-262kg, setting junior world records across the board, and Vibert finished 112-142-254kg. Song failed with a world record attempt on her last lift. She made 120-149-269 while Liao finished 116-148-264, which is 9kg below her best qualifying total. Others who made big gains in the rankings were Vanessa Sarno, up 10kg to 249kg (from 9th to 5th useful place in the OQR), and Olympic bronze medallist Chen Wen-Huei, up 8kg to 243kg (sneakin' in into the top 10, 8th useful place in the OQR now, climbing from previous 12th). Mun Minhee made a 7kg gain in the B group, finishing 1kg behind Eyglo Sturlodottir, who made 104-127-231kg to move within striking distance of the top ten of the OQR (still she has almost 10 lifters yet to pass). the unlucky lifter of the day is Amanda Da Costa Schott, who dropped momentarily out of the top 10 of the OQR.

  38. You compare Gpd pib i dont know what , i forgot to tell that cost of life is not the same , in germany you take the taxi 20€ you lent an appartement 500 ,1 pizza 10 €, you pay 1 coffe 2€ ,the price here you can divide all that by 10 or 15 here hospitals are free, large part of medicaments are 100%free , school is free , university is free ,TV is free, gasoline+energy are cheap ....etc ..etc Except cars are expensive because imported which is a good thing "no more pollution" I have thousands of tv channels from 5 continents , i pay less than 1€ per year Btw your Tv channels are ugly , when you watch 1 match of football each 10 minutes they put 90 publicities of Mcdonalds and kinder you gonna find a plastic toy they say , prices like 6,99€ instead 7 buy 3 coffee you get 1 for free but the price of 3 coffee was already x4 so the additional one was not really free you even miss the half of match while you paid your subscription 99,99€ instead 100 how can they scam you easily like that while your IQ is high like you pretend

  41. Day 15 (August 10, 2024) Athletics- Men’s High Jump I say Gold for Barshim as well. But i may be biased because he is my fav high jumper and probably even my fav no-POL athlete these days. He's got Polish coach :-) No medal for Tamberi would be sad for me cause he's my second-fav male high jumper. It can obviosly happen though. And Woo is serious contender for sure, I haven't picked him for medal myself but maybe you're right. Athletics- Women’s 100m Hurdles I believe Harrison will win this one. Finally she will prove she can run her best in the final as well. Not only in prelims, semis or DL meetings. So i think she will win this one. But ofc - she may even not make it through US Trials here, because US Trials level in some events will be amazing and this is one of those events... No fan of Amusan at all so I don't want her to get a medal here. But she's a contender ofc. Athletics- Men’s 800m I haven't predicted gold for Arop either but maybe we should be more optimistic here. He has a chance for gold. He looked simply great in Budapest. Looking at him - after first 100m you just knew he will win this final. Athletics- Men’s 5000m I said Ingebrigtsen will get 1500-5000 double but surely UGA can have a gold here. Athletics- Women’s 4x400m Relay Athletics- Men’s 4x400m Relay I agree - 2 golds for USA in M and W 4x400 Basketball- Men’s Tournament I may be very disappointed but for now I'm thinking M basketball will be one of the best events in Paris. I just can't wait to see these matches. My only hope is GRE will advance and Giannis will play (but both these things are not very likely). Anyway, let the best remaining top 4 teams qualify now and let's not have many NOs when the best players will be asked to join their teams. Beach Volleyball- Men’s Tournament Yes, SWE and NOR are my favs as well. Where do you see POL here? Diving- Men’s 10m Platform I like the UKR kid very much but i don't see it happen. It would require both CHN athletes to screw things up (one of them can always screw up, but both of them in the same event... - very unlikely imo). And AUS is really strong here as well. Anyway, I predicted a surprised gold for UKR in synchro platform due to CHN collapse, we'll see. Handball- Women’s Tournament It would be very sad for FRA to get to the final here, and then lose it in front of their own crowd. But at least there will be some crowd in the stands this time. Anyway, it can happen ofc, we'll see WCH results soon... Volleyball- Men’s Tournament I believe in POL team here, i predicted them for gold as well, but i'm afraid we'll lose QF game again - OR we will win QF relatively easily and then we will celebrate too much, lose our concentraton and implode heavily in a SF But if we advance to the final somehow - I don't tnink we'll meet JPN there, they are strong but - i don't know how to say it politely - JPN guys are playing well but they are not hmm... high enough??? Ofc, after what i wrote, POL will lose QF against JPN for sure... Waterpolo- Women’s Tournament Here i predicted gold for HUN but you are right here i guess

  43. Jakub Borguľa won yesterday the sprint in Pokljuka. It was his first competition as a junior. Great result and achievement. Today finished 10th in the Individual, while his mate Adamov was 4th.

  44. Apparently it's likely to be the last World Cup in Tomaszow, considering next summer a new track in Zakopane - on 1km altitude - should open it's doors. Curious how it's going to be there, athletes are....not impressed, to say the very least, with Tomaszow (in terms of being one of the most boring cities they've ever been to, and the ice this week has often been horrible) Personally I really don't mind: there's a nice atmosphere inside the arena during the races, with a nice audience being there, unlike often is the case in for example the Asian and North American legs. Plus terrible ice isn't necessarily bad, as long as the ice quality is more or less the same between the 1st and last pair of a distance, it's fine. It's not fun if every single track is always a super speedway, you also need tracks that are heavy and favour the distance athletes more than sprinters, who are favoured in the high altitude tracks.

  45. Breaking news. Lake Placid has put forth an offer to host sliding sports for the 2026 Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to take place in Italy, where organizers are struggling to provide a venue for bobsled, luge and skeleton racing. The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced the bid after its quarterly meeting Thursday, only two days after the chief of the Milan-Cortina Games said it is possible the hosts could come up with a new proposal to build a track.

  47. I don't know where put this, so After 1 month and 158 events in 14 sports (only luge and ice hockey have still 0 events), 29 NOCs won at last a medal. This week, Ukraine and Australia sign their 1st podium of the winter season. 22 16 13 [51] 18 12 11 [41] 17 10 20 [47] 16 19 11 [46] 16 15 24 [55] 10 11 09 [30] 09 10 06 [25] 08 13 12 [33] 08 07 07 [22] 07 07 04 [20] 06 07 09 [22] 06 07 05 [18] 06 03 08 [17] 03 05 04 [12] 02 02 02 [06] 01 03 01 [05] 01 02 02 [05] 01 02 01 [04] 01 02 00 [03] 00 01 02 [03] 00 01 01 [02] 00 01 01 [02] 00 01 01 [02] 00 01 00 [01] 00 00 03 [03] 00 00 02 [02] 00 00 01 [01] 00 00 01 [01] 00 00 01 [01]
