  1. TISC Returns to the USA! It is my great pleasure to formally announce the United States as the host of TISC Open 2023! . @Olympian1010 was the sole bid this time and it means TISC will return to the USA for a second time, 5 years after they first hosted TISC Open 2018. We are all excited to see what America has in store for us and we wish our hosts the very best of luck on their organisation of what will surely be another great contest!

  7. so here are the quotas for tonight 86: 125: these guys in repechage will try for the remaining 3 quotas tomorrow 86: needs one win needs couple wins at least / I think it's fair to say that 3 quotas will be between KAZ/UZB/SMR/BRN, only the Mongolian can change that 125: needs one win needs couple wins at least / no chance for PUR and I think BLR will beat Ligeti (HUN) or at least he has a better chance. that CAM wrestler is actually Iranian so it won't be walk in the park. last night I would considered Baran (POL) as favorite but Kurbanov (AIN) was better than my expectation so I say 3 quotas will be between RUS/BLR/TUR/USA but POL and HUN can change that

  12. Ogando That was too obvious of a 'I am supposed to do this 400m but really just want to do the 200m tomorrow, so I will just get out from the 400m by doing a false start' Come on man, at least try to make it look like you did it by accident!

  14. Probably because we have two team quotas. It's to prevent the top two teams from meeting in the semis and then getting eliminated. Of course with v in the men's quarterfinals the whole exercise is ruined

  15. Expected Yazdani - Taylor final at 86. Below them things are looking bad for Europe. That old saying goes "If you can't get a quota at the Worlds, better hope your continent get lots of them, so the Continental qualifiers are easier".

  16. Well, finally we can congrat you @Josh. Really sad way to start the tournament for The Netherlands, but they were really choking in het 1st, 4th and especially 5th set. I expected a lot more, but in the end: we lost in recent months two times against Canada, so we have to admit Canada is really the better one now. Good luck in the rest of the tournament; I give Canada just a small chance to beat Serbia and China, but fighting spirit they have, so who knows!!

  27. Greco yes for sure even though that's much harder to predict. we have much more favorites comparing to freestyle but I'm not really informed enough about women's wrestling. I mean I watch medal matches in major events but it's not like I follow all events everywhere. (which I do specially for men's freestyle and less for the Greco)

  32. Ligeti has some tricks up his sleeves and almost gave us a scare when he scored that 4pts against Zare but he is not young and after that Zare easily scored tons of points on him. that guy Khramiankov has couple of wins against our 2nd/3rd tier wrestlers, so I know his potential probably better. of course Ligeti can take the win with one of his nasty throws , winner of that match will finish 5th though but will be one win away from the quota. of course, it's important to win the quota early, because then you can prepare yourself better. but in this specific sport winning the quota doesn't mean the same guy will to the Olympics. they still have to go through our own trial process (even though by wining a medal they will have a huge advantage over the rest) it's also about matchups and different styles. for example that Uzbek guy was great until the SF but Yazdani handled him quite easily, he usually does that against Russian (and ex-Soviet) wrestlers but he struggled against Amine (SMR) who is American in fact. anyway it was a good day, 2 quotas, 3 in the final (2 expected 1 surprise ) we are in a race with team USA for the team title and they are leading after the 1st day. Yazdani-Taylor is probably the most anticipated sporting event here (I mean outside of football) people will get very upset if/when he loses. and unfortunately I can't see him winning. Taylor was just better today

  36. OH CANADA Canada started the Women's Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers on a winning note, defeating Netherlands 3-2 (32-30, 19-25, 15-25, 25-17, 15-13) Pretty poor performance from them in sets 2 and 3, surprised that they managed to find something in the end (they were also down 8-10 in set 5) Celestine Plak led Netherlands with 23 points (17 attacks, 4 blocks, 2 aces), while Nika Daalederop scored 21 points (20 attacks, 1 block). For Canada, Alexa Gray led with 28 points (26 attacks, 2 blocks), with Kiera Van Ryk tallying up 19 points (18 attacks, 1 block). Brie King MVP though IMO, she made some huge digs and had some excellent set choices. Up next, at 10:00PST/1:00AM EST

  38. I see, my previous response didn't match your expectations. Italy seems to be making mistakes here and there. The comeback might not happen at this point. Only women's beach tennis is left, and Greece could seal the deal with finswimming. With 3 events remaining, I'd say: 60% Greece 40% Italy

  40. With 7 events left (3 finswimming, 2 beach tennis, 2 beach volley): 13-9-8 12-0-5 10-13-12 I still think that "15" will be the magic number. Greece need to win two golds in the remaining 3 finswimming events. Otherwise, Italy have an huge chances (it will probably depends by men's beach volley)

  43. Yep, there's been a bunch, but just can't be bothered to update them. On the WA page, there are about 60+ (well ok... maybe i'm exaggerating) meets that have all happened within the last week (or two), therefore it takes a while to find every new athlete quota. I'll probably do some today and some tomorrow.

  44. most of your guys are new to me, not really familiar with them. this is the strongest qualification tournament with only 5 quotas available , so my answer is no I don't think so I don't know your 61kg guy but his draw is not that bad, if he is as good as your usual lightweight wrestlers, he has a shot for the bronze. Aman is the current Asian Champion, that means a lot. Abakarov is the current world champion but he is not unbeatable. he cuts a lot to make 57kg. of course he can end the match 10-0 quickly but if Aman survives the early storm he has a chance in the 2nd period. I think he is in top 7-8 of this weight and with a bit of luck he can win a quota.
