Good news and bad news from the World Cup qualifications. Marielle Thompson and Kristofer Mahler are back and advanced through the qualifications, Mahler in a solid 8th! Thompson just barely in 16th. The bad news, Schmidt and Phelan both failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. Embarrassing.

Mi chiedo cosa sia realisticamente possibile ottenere dalla nostra attuale squadra di hockey, con questo roster, e che tipo di allenatore potrebbe riuscirci? È chiaro che questi allenatori eccezionali, tipo: Jalonen e l'ex canadese, non sono probabilmente inadatti ad allenare una squadra del nostro calibro. In ogni caso, non vedo alcun progresso da 2 anni in cui il finlandese è coach: siamo stati fortunati ad avanzare alla Divisione Elite, ma siamo ancora una squadra più debole di Regno Unito, Polonia, Ungheria, ecc. Su 5 partite con loro, potremmo vincerne forse 1. Stile di gioco pessimo: scarsa efficacia, errori da scolaretto da parte del portiere, ecc. Nessun progresso da anni.
