Good start of the season for  Zografski, though the rare occasion there is a Normal hill on the schedule is always to his benefit. Will see if he can stabilize a top 15-20 placing in the coming starts.

 

Also a nice surprise to see  Tomasiak doing well. I don't know what is the general feeling in Poland about their current state in ski-jumping, but i'm seeing a big problem for them. The time of the seemingly eternal old dogs Stoch, Kubacki, Zyla and Kot is coming to an end (for some even at the end of this season) and there is practically no one coming up to replace them. 

 

I don't think they will become the next Finland and drop out completely from the scene, but so many years without a breakthrough young guy has to be very concerning. Zniszczol, Wolny, Stekala were all failed prospects. While Wasek had a very good last season, his consistency is still a question mark.

It's the same with Italy in alpine skiing, and if Colturi doesn't return, it will be agony – she's already in the women's technical events. I don't see the point of hosting the Olympics at home if you don't have any future development plans for your flagship discipline. At least Poland doesn't have the Olympics at home, just like Finland once did.

Ah, feeling in Poland? Maciusiak is a "budget option" and wel, Stoch works with Dolezal as his personal coach (similar to Małysz with Lepistoe back in the day) since Maciusiak is a complete nobody to coach Stoch. Maciusiak's biggest claim was Andrzej Stekala (remember him?) revitalisation project and most fans expected him to be a NT coach in the lean years after Stoch & Kubacki retired (less sponsors & money etc). It just came a little premature before 2026 WOG.

 

Btw, Piotr Zyla might continue beyond "expiration date" since he doesn't have the Olympic pension bc Stefan Hula was in the team squad in 2018 that won WOG medal. 

 

Btw2, Tomasiak is coached by Wojciech Topor at the so-called "club tree" so Maciusiak hasn't "broken" him yet hehe.

 

Btw3, Kot is a wash but he has ties to federation so he will be in the picture regardless of his current results (not to mention the two-three seasons he was actually good at WCup level).

For the record the last  male ski jumper of any serious note I recall was Staffan Tallberg (I consciously watch sports since 1991/92 so I remember Nieminen, Vettori & Felder but I don't recall Mikael Martinsson getting Top10s in 1992 season tbh - pre-Internet days and all that).

Kraft absolutely muffed his last jump, first to ninth.

also small mention for Hektor Kapustík who already made it in the 4 this season races 3 times to the main round. 

 

Last time a slovak ski jumper made it to the main round at WC was almost some 20 years ago

Another "should mention" - Queen of the Nordic Combined  Gyuda Wetfolfold Hansen has switched to straight Jumping this season in a bid for an Olympic spot.  Is doing OK with.a run of top 20s, but team competition will be tough.
