A team of 24 athletes for Ireland (12 men and 12 women) and not a field event athlete in sight. One day we might have someone who can jump or throw something far.

Too bad, but after his sensational run last week, he’s obviously got his eye on higher things.  Don’t think we’ll be seeing many star names overall - except :POL, who always put out their best for home events.  But it’s good to have an event which is mostly about the youngsters & Pavel Maslák.

Nah, we will see most of them.

Mayer and Thiam are confirmed, mPV will be stacked, Ingebrigtsens, Mahuchikh, wLJ etc

You have enough people who can run fast enough to avoid answering the question of why you don’t have anyone on the field events..road runner goodbye GIF by Looney Tunes

:SLO Team Slovenia :SLO

17 athletes (8 men, 9 women)

Men

  • Tilen Ovniček (60m)
  • Luka Janežič (400 m)
  • Lovro Mesec Košir (400 m)
  • Jure Grkman (400 m)
  • Gregor Grahovac (400 m)
  • Žan Rudolf (800 m)
  • Filip Jakob Demšar (60 m Hurdles)
  • Jan Luxa (Triple Jump)

Women

  • Maja Mihalinec Zidar (60 m)
  • Agata Zupin (400 m)
  • Anita Horvat (400 m / 800 m)
  • Jerneja Smonkar (800 m)
  • Maruša Mišmaš Zrimšek (800 m / 1500 m / 3000 m)
  • Klara Lukan (1500 m / 3000 m)
  • Lia Apostolovski (High Jump)
  • Tina Šutej (Pole Vault)
  • Neja Filipič (Triple Jump)

There is no doubt our highest hopes are Šutej, Mihalinec Zidar, Mišmaš Zrimšek, then Janežič and Horvat.

At least one medal is very realistic goal. Too bad EAA has such Relay criteria, otherwise we would definitely send Men's, maybe even Women's relay to the start.

BTW, this is second biggest delegation, most athletes took part in Vienna 2002, with 20 athletes, that was the year Jolanda Čeplak broke still valid WR on 800 m.

:GRE  Team Greece  :GRE

20 Athletes (9 M + 11 W)

Men

  • Ioannis Nyfantopoulos (60m)
  • Konstantinos Zikos (60m)
  • Andreas Dimitrakis (1500m)
  • Konstantinos Douvalidis (60m Hurdles)
  • Konstantinos Filippidis (Pole Vault)
  • Alexandros Peristeris (Long Jump)
  • Miltiadis Tentoglou (Long Jump)
  • Nikolaos Andrikopoulos (Triple Jump)
  • Dimitrios Tsiamis (Triple Jump)

Women

  • Maria Gatou (60m)
  • Kiriaki Samani (60m)
  • Rafailia Spanoudaki (60m)
  • Irini Vasiliou (400m)
  • Konstantina Giannopoulou (800m)
  • Anastasia Marinakou (1500m)
  • Elisavet Pesiridou (60m Hurdles)
  • Ioanna Zakka (High Jump)
  • Eleni Polak (Pole Vault)
  • Spyridoula Karydi (Triple Jump)
  • Paraskevi Papachristou (Triple Jump)

I think our team is quite strong even though we are missing 5 other athletes that qualified, including a few who would've had good chances to win medals. Still, I think Tentoglou and Papachristou have very good chances to win medals and possibly even gold. Both are EL for this year and have been European champions in the past so that's why I say it.

I also think Polak has a chance to win a medal. Possibly Zikos or Spanoudaki could surprise too. Filippidis and Tsiamis have won European medals before but I don't think they have any chances based on current form. I think we can leave Torun with 2-3 medals and I would be happy with that.

Also disappointing to not have anyone in the men's high jump for Greece. We have two guys who won medals in this event at previous European Indoor Championships (Antonios Mastoras won silver in 2015 and Konstantinos Baniotis won silver in 2019). Mastoras hasn't competed since 2018 and Baniotis since 2020.

Douvalidis announced today that he is injured and will not be going to Torun anymore. I was hoping he could do well, he was 5th in 2019...
