The winners will be chosen by athletes/coaches (50%) and a jury (50%, consisting of former athletes, old-winners like Arjen Robben, and press).

Fair nominations in my eyes in all categories.

Van der Poel, Bol, water polo women and Meuwly please. I don't know the para-athletes well enough, so no idea :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Has not been a hugely great year for individual achievement in :GBR so our list includes a few people with lifetime achievements alongside great winners from the year.

Stuart Broad - Cricketer

Frankie Dettori - Horse racing

Mary Earps - Women's Football goalkeeper

Alfie Hewitt - Wheelchair tennis

Katarina Johnson-Thompson - Heptathlon World Champion

Rory McIlroy - Golf

Mary Earps probably the favourite based on the numbers of viewers of her games in the Women's World Cup.

Sports Personality of the Year 2023 shortlist: Broad, Dettori, Earps, Hewett, Johnson-Thompson & McIlroy - BBC Sport

Now wait a sec, wait a sec ….up till now I’d always thought Camogie & hurling were the same sport, the one all sensible people call shinty. Now you’re saying they’re different?
