Some of older Totallympics users will remember great Vadim Khamuttskikh who sadly passed away. He was a great player, 3x olympics medalist.

Cristian Ghilli, 19 yo, 3x European and 2x world champion in junior skeet (https://www.issf-sports.org/athletes/athlete.ashx?personissfid=SHITAM0705200201).

Apparently he shot himself by accident while hunting.

More on that story.  Most commentators a bit sceptical about the explanation.

    • how can you say that?   we've never had so many medal chances like nowadays, we can bring something home in almost every sport   who cares if CC skiing is no longer a medal factory? we have others now   OK, most of our champions are not youngsters anymore, but again, who cares? the Home Olympics are next year, not in a decade   don't look at the single world championship's race, just look at how good we are in many Olympic events and please, for you health's sake, relax and try and enjoy the competition as it is (independently from the Italians' results)
    • Harrop surprisingly lost to Fatton after being unbeaten so far this season in the sprint races, all according to plan in the men's division, where Cardona Col proved once more unbeatable   finally,  and  get the Olympic Quota Places among the women,  and  get the OQPs among the men

    • I have already written that I will consider 15 medals a success, but it will still be less medals than in 2022 (17)- an edition over our real capabilities at that time in my opinion. In any case, it may be 2 times in a row that Italy as the host of the Winter Games we will get fewer medals than in the previous edition and it will not be nice. Currently we have a more stable base and results achieved in summer sports: 2 more great last editions of the Games and this can no longer be called a coincidence.   It's hard to change anything positively with 1 year to go until the Olympics. We have to count on our veterans in various sports not having injuries and being in good shape. Unfortunately, cross-country skiing has been neglected for many years and even Cramer's good work over the last 3 years couldn't change much. Maybe if we gave him 7 years from 2019, the situation would be better.
