ok...

In Spain male Rhytmic Gymnastics is already developed. There are national championships with a lot of participants since a few years ago.

ok...

Take that up with FIG who refuses to make a men's rhythmic event, just like UWW refuses to make a women's Greco-Roman event.

FINA can see the writing on the wall and is developing mixed duet in artistic swimming which will likely allow it to survive in the coming years.

No one wants men's rhythmic gymnastics, or synchronized swimming for that part... They are perfectly fine being women only events. And there should be no problem with that. Just like there shouldn't be any problem with wrestling and boxing having more men's events. But these conversations get more and more absurd with every passing Olympics...

I mean I, for one, would very much like to see the FIG embrace men's rhythmic gymnastics.

It's actually a sport I wanted to try out as a kid but was told I couldn't do for reasons.

They could probably add a mixed team event to Artistic Gymnastics but fitting all the apparatus in at the same time would be challenging. .

You may want to see it, but how much time do spend training rhythmic gymnastics?

Thank you! This shows a much clearer picture of where rhythmic gymnastics stands and how it fits in the so-called "gender equality" proposal. I am one of the only ones here who likes the idea to push gender equality, but I was worried about how the IOC is going to make it work. This document explains things a lot better.

I honestly don't think anyone here seriously has a problem with trying to reach gender equality, the main issue is with how they're going about it and which things are being thrown away and replaced left and right.

By the way, only 329 events by the looks of it? So things get added, which means more than 10 events will be dropped compared to Tokyo? Eight of those coming from karate, one being the 50k, baseball/softball....what else?

    • I think the reason is that it's generally preferable to have a fast shooter in the 1st leg, and especially in the prone shooting, where Hofer is quite slow.   Now, I'm not saying I agree with the choice, because I don't. I think it's going to neutralize Giacomel's skiing skills in the 1st lap at least.   I guess the idea is to try and set a very fast pace in the 1st leg, which is usually quite tactical, but I'm afraid that's going to force Giacomel to risk too much because he will feel he has to make some time somehow.   Regardless, Italy must be on the podium tomorrow. I think that would be crucial for the following races as well. I think France is the clear favorite, but the other teams are not stronger than Italy on paper.
