Johannes Klaebo has announced he will not compete in any WC races until the new year (Tour de Ski, January 1st). He has stated the reason for his decision lies in the fear of contracting Corona virus and the uncertainty of spreading it to others. When ask by Norwegian medias if he will be at start in Tour de Ski, Klaebo replied that he first had to see if Tour de Ski will happen this season and then he will consider his participation. Lastly Klaebo stated his goal and focus for the rest of season will be the World Championships in Oberstdorf in February next year.

Literally more chance of getting in a car crash on the way to the race.

151 podium at international level (WC, WCh and OG) for Johaug! She passed Hirsher and Fourcade!

Here the athletes with +150 podium in winter sports:

  1. :NOR Marit Bjorgen - 212
  2. :SUI Conny Kissling - 211
  3. :NOR Ole Einar Bjorndalen - 182
  4. :GER Gunda Niemann Stirnermann - 163
  5. :SWE Ingemar Stenmark - 162
  6. :NOR Therese Johaug - 151
  7. :FRA Martin Fourcade - 150
  8. :AUT Marcel Hirsher - 150

If my math is correct, i think Geisenberger has 154

That's literally not true in an environment full of athletes who are on the razor thin line between sick and not sick and where distance is definitely not being kept, as we saw in Ruka.

Lots of first-time victories coming.  :champion:

Can't wait for all those athletes who, in a few years from now, have like a 5th place that makes you think "Wow, must be their best ever result!" only to realize they had a win or podium in some race where half the usual field was absent :p

For sure there is always the chance of catching it; lots of athletes have.  But for fit people under the age of 60, the chances of serious consequences - severe illness, death - are indeed of much less then a severe car crash.  :teacher:

Not including Peter Northug here, obviously.  :toast:

That might not be entirely true for people who stress their lungs nearly infinitely more than any regular human being. Sure, athletes are fit, that doesn't mean they're healthy. Not saying it's an absolutely necessary decision, but for anyone following the sport it is without a doubt understandable.
